dude, hi to all 4520 users..

ive been using this lappy for almost 2 years.. no problem n loving it, w 4gb ram.. but recently, my stupid fren go put the speaker max n suddenly my speaker wont produce sound anymore... does anyone know how n where can i fix this... i stay in kl... any recommended shop?

Is your warranty still valid? If yes, send it back to where you got it.
If no, I think you'll be charged.

yup, second fabianz...if have warranty, just send to Service Center..if not, have to replace lor...need to pay one..

I've been using this for 2y+ and suddenly won't turn on anymore. I click on power, it flashes for couple seconds and dies again, everytime. Went to acer support center they told me the motherboard is fried.

The WHOLE thing had to be replaced because they don't have the facilities to FIX (which is weird considering my Toshiba laptop could be fixed when couple ICs were fried and I thought ACER is #1 in this country). What makes me mad is how expensive the mobo was, around USD $200. I would rather buy a new laptop but I told them to replace it anyway.

I got it back couple days ago. There are things that concerns me.

The MOBO serial number now says fffffff****, my old mobo had a more valid serial number.

I'm afraid they did fix my mobo, changed the serial number and sold it back to me. If so may they burn in hell.

Lastly the only give you 15 days for a return if anything would to happen. 15 days LOL!

Anyway I tried Win 7 for fun and it works just fine. You just need Vista's Chipset drivers for the SMU. And Windows 7 update will install the other drivers.

It runs fast enough even if I only get 3.1 for performance index.

CAN ANYONE tell me their CORE GPU ETC normal operating TEMPERATURE after prolong use (1h+). I mean just when web browsing with FF.

I got 3.0 in Windows Experience Index.
My CPU temp is just around 60C when browsing.
With notebook cooler.

Hmm..my memory card reader stop working now..
when i plug it in, it doesnt detect the memory card already..
i'm sure i installed the driver all from the CD provided..

You're using XP? If yes, the card reader is working with Vista only. Weird.

Latecomer here, coming out of my lurker shell.

Anyone can give some helpings on how to get the laptop's Bluetooth receiver to work, also why my card reader port can't read anything that goes inside (obviously, like an SD card)? I'm running Vista Ultimate x64 with Service Pack 2 btw.

i have the same problem as yours previously.
i insert a SDHC card with an adapter and the laptop unable to detect it.
the solution is to flash the BIOS with the latest Bios.

hi all 4520 user

i been using my GF 4520 for nearly 2 years no issue at the moment
just that it will be quite hot, playing online game & the temp go up to 80C with notebook cooler

1 more thing , due to seldom use the battery, now the batt KONG already, can last for 1 hr only

but still quite ok compare to my compaq , playing the same game u can hear the fan blow like blower & damn hot

the oni problem that i faced is the dvd driver cannot read the dvd anymore
besides that everything is fine:D
can play PES2008 with the medium quality,play counter strike also can o0o,ehe
now,im installed my acer 4520 with windows 7 ultimate 32-bit
n lo0ks great!

mine also...same as harrykh...after use it for sometime 2+ years...but my WIFI modem condem first...change new card also cannot work...my fren said may be mobo...I click on power, it flashes for couple seconds and dies again, everytime. sent for repair they said mobo kong...change new rm500++..still at shop...

wanna share story also!..

1st, dvd rom died.
2nd, soundcard died.
3rd, when this thing sleeps, it wont wake up UNLESS you click the mouse (provided you sleep with mouse attached to USB).
4th, extremely long boot (random period, but usually 5mins+ to get to the first boot up screen after pressing power button).
5th, press power ON, 3 secs later it turned off. have to do it around 20+ times to finally boot up.
6th, no longer boot up.

feels like telling a story of a man during his lifetime lol..

is aspire 4520 compatible with win7 ultimate???
anyone done it before????

completely compatible!.. format my customers 4520 yesterday and add 2gb more ram into it and it work fine!... dont feel any lag compare to my sister toshiba with pentium dual core 1.8ghz+2gb ram!...

this laptop comes with vista starter edition with DVD provided!

What is the RAM u used and what is your best recommendation? Currently still with XP3 on 768 RAM. Plan to upgrade RAM to MAXIMUM and install new win7..

kingston ram will be fine.maximum you can add is 2gb ddr2 ram

my screen doesnt show anything upon power on, the power n hdd led are on, the screen become slightly brighter but nothing shows up, my friend says it is because of the graphic card (nvidia), if i were to repair the gfx card, how much will it cost? warranty period has over..
