QUOTE(assemble @ Jul 9 2007, 06:40 AM) Just one question, why is it teams that are interested in participating need to pay the rm100 registration fees, you said that the team that won will be fully sponsored by SMM and In2, and I don't see any reason why any registration fees are needed here since you guys wont give out any prizes in terms of cash and trophy. 18 teams, thats a total of rm1800. Do you mind to explain how this rm1800 will be use to fund the qualifier? Cybertime being one of the biggest lanshop in Malaysia and being the sponsor of the best team around are not willing to fork up some of the pcs to held a qualifier? That is a total joke. Unless you tell us that the money will be use to pay the marshall who will be very dedicated to host the event. Plus another point is why arent any other teams allowed to join this qualifier? I remember there are another quite decent cybertime team around, and I dont see them in the list. The fact is, if you are charging rm100 per team, then it should be open to public, correct me if I'm wrong, I just think that this qualifier is out of the point where it had been too commercialized instead of for the well being of the community. okok im not the organizer or wut...but let me explain to u assemble... PLACE>>>>FREE???????? MARSHALL>>>>>FREE???????? summore if the organizers need take money let them take la..u think organize tournament so easy ka?IF u r interested juz join...WIN...n refresent MALAYSIA la...dun interested sit back n relax...watch tv ka...need ask so much?????????? everything is about BUSINESS La dude...

Quarterfinal matchups
MKVL vs Sino.MnG
Cybertime vs Imax
Cybertime 1 vs Ice 1
Auto.DOP vs w4si
Ok just back from the tournament area. Let me try clarify a few things.
1. This qualifiers is organized by a group of Dota enthusiasts (myself included) that thinks Dota deserved to have its own qualifiers to ACG rather than just a simple recomendation by ourselves. In case you all are wondering , YES , we are in the position to just recommend a team to go . All we need is just a rather long explanation written by myself to do so.
2. This is not a Cybertime event , nor it is a Corporate-sponsored event. It is a private event. It works by us renting a portion of the cybercafe to conduct the event and go through the whole tourney process to determine the winner. That winner will be our recomendation to ACG Singapore and IN2 will take over from there.
3. Due to our limited contacts , we could only managed to get Cybertime as our venue for this tournament. Bear in mind that we are not only renting the PCs , we are also renting their technician services to fix / replace mulfunctioning equipment that happens frequently in an overheated CC due to the huge crowd. All this requires cash resources and we can only get it from participants registration fees.
4. The dedicated marshalls will also need a certain amount of compensation for their work. They do the draftings , solve match disputes and at certain times controlling the crowd from getting over enthusiastic. Some of these marshalls are directly involved in the negotiations to get this tournament going and I cant even start to imagine the amount of patience needed to go through the heavy bureaucracy for them to get this far.
Hope this post clarifies some matters and all the best for the team that will represent Malaysia to ACG this year.
BTW , replays will be posted after the ACG at Singapore is finished after receiving some advice from overseas counterparts and the Gamers themselves.
