Proud of the boys, although a little disappointed we didn't get the fifth to win it. What a crazy game, definitely worth losing sleep over! laugh.gif

Yeeessssssss that was a very very professional performance, love it. Palace are a notoriously organised team and apart from that header that tomkins got in the box, I don't think there ever was a real worry of us conceding.

Cap really is a special player, he has that natural poacher's instinct in and around the box which is rare for a winger. Drifted in and out of the game yet somehow ended up on the scoresheet. Lad is class.

Felt a bit sorry for tammy, that finish from willian's immaculate layoff was perfect but credit to frank, michy's had a great cameo yet again and was involved for the second goal, as his deflected shot dropped nicely for cap.

Frank might want to review why tomkins was left unmarked in the box, but we were always in control.

Note: Special mention for reece james who looked like a seasoned epl rightback! Finally azpi can get some rest once in awhile smile.gif

Absolutely adoring the zouma and tomori partnership as well, it's crazy how quickly kurt has recovered under frank's guidance. Not too long ago everyone was screaming for him to be dropped, now he even looks more solid than tomori at times biggrin.gif

How the hell do spurs keep getting these VAR decisions in their favour?? Quarter of a boot beyond the line counts as offside? Since when was that even a thing?? sweat.gif

I swear they make these things up as they go along man

Sheffield get the equaliser they so richly deserve! Hahaha even VAR can't save them looollll. They should be in the lead though. There's just seems to be an added impetus to help spurs out with these and it's annoying. Or maybe it's just me laugh.gif

Sheffield are real ballers though. Away from home and playing without fear.

More points dropped by spurs. Shaping up to be yet another perfect weekend of football. Hoho.

Pool escaping a penalty when there was a clear handball incident which lead to an advantage.

Sigh. Why do we never get these sad.gif

Certainly looks like it at the moment. City definitely don't deserve to be 2 down though.

Well, bernado Silva handball first followed by arnold, but half of MC players complained and stop running back to their half, they shouldnt stop unless referee stop the game

Second goal no offside after the line was draw

First goal was indeed unstoppable, but never should've happened.

I'm not so sure about the second either, even with the lines he looked borderline off imo, especially his upper body / chest. With how those 'magic lines' can be drawn during VAR checks (similar to Sheffield's first goal yesterday which was somehow disallowed for half a boot length), he could easily be off. But of course no checks occurred and we'll never know, this is what bugs me.

Whenever VAR comes into play, all goals / offsides come under 200% more scrutiny, and refs are free to decide which teams are on the receiving end of such checks. If there was no sudden VAR check on azpi's potential equaliser vs pool, would it have been disallowed? Of course not, as the linesman didn't even flag for mount being 'marginally' off.

So who decides these checks? Do we need like what, more than 5 players in the ref's ear? The managers screaming at the assistants? Does the ref selectively decide what to check and what not? It's such a horrible mess with certain teams always getting them in their favour.

Officials will decide what goes and what doesn't, it's so easily manipulated it's insane.

Aye. I didn't see anyone feeling bad for us last week when Firmino's armpit was deemed offside. But sure LiVARpool rocks on I guess.

This is EXACTLY how Sheffield's goal vs spurs looked like before magic VAR got involved. Yes, hard to believe I know laugh.gif

After they drew the magic lines, zoomed in and out a few times, added a few double lines on each side for good measure, VOILA, half his boot was offside. It's all a big mish mash of inconsistencies, with certain teams getting the most out of it,and some decisions coming under more scrutiny than others.

Guys, Willian is 31, his contract will be up in the coming summer. Rumours saying he wants a 2year contract but as we all know, our club have a policy of only offering 1 year contract to players over 30 years old.

Do u guys see our club breaking the club policy finally on a player that deserves a longer contract?

I think Willian has been key figure under Lampard and absolutely deserves a contract renewal. Hmm
*
Ahh don't you remember we just recently broke our over 30 policy for his fellow ex-chelsea brazilian luiz icon_idea.gif

Luiz ended up being sold, so he might want to think this through laugh.gif

In all seriousness, based on his recent performances I'm with you in believing that he does deserve another year, but two? Kinda risky, wingers like him rely so much on pace, I'm worried he might drop off badly when he loses a step or two. Let's wait till the end of the season at the very least.

Looking into sancho's recent comments about how he looks up to Frank and Drogs when he was younger though, the club might have other ideas tongue.gif

just give him one year with an option for another.

Our normal procedure for players his age kan? Anyway I don't really blame him or his agent for trying for 2 years, after luiz managed to break the cycle. He seems to love the club though, I'll give him that, despite the nonsense that went on with conte. However i feel it will also depend on the success of jeremy boga's loan at sassuolo, and how much frank rates him. He's scored some cracking goals already! Just need to findout if he's OK with being a bit part player, or would frank rather he challenge for a spot immediately. If boga gets in, willian would probably leave.

Mount on the bench, hope kante is at his absolute best today. Then again even at 50%, he's still a friggin animal.

A lot of what needs to be said has been posted here, so I'll just give my take on what I think we needed to do more of.

Basically, we mustn't be shy to change up our game plan when good teams apply an insane level of press on us. They had fernandinho as a makeshift centerback. Fernandinho for heaven's sake. It bothers me to no end that we absolutely refuse to take advantage of tammy's height and strength, he's built like a tank yet we're almost allergic to playing it long even when the situation desperately calls for it.

The amount of times we kept playing it between our CBs, only for kepa to aimlessly punt it long once we realised there's no space left, was doing my head in! The slow pace of which we moved the ball had some shades of sarri in it, and not in a good way.

No shame in losing 2 - 1 to the reigning league champions, but the manner of how we conceded was disappointing. One via a heavy deflection after a poor jorginho pass got intercepted, and the other was just poor tracking by emerson and tomori.

Still a learning process for lamps, if only willian put away his chance he had and kante took a better touch to put him through on goal (in addition to the goal he scored). That's the main difference between us and city/pool at the moment. Salah / mane would put away those chances / half chances and be cruising 3 nil at the break. We're getting there though.

Valencia next, need to bounce back from this.

Damn it was so satisfying denying little bit*ch fc at their home ground, all that rolling around on the grass clutching their faces, you'd think you walked into a bad acting convention.

Should've won though with all those chances that dropped to willian. Second one he really should have put away, just needed to steady himself, although the ball from michy wasn't the best.

We did okay, just disappointing that we couldn't hold on. Sigh. Defence was just all over the place, I think this is the worst we've looked defensively in the CL, and that's saying something. Seemed to have completely relinquished control of midfield in the final 20 mins, and not the best strategy by the boss.

Kepa had a bit of a mixed performance but that penalty save (which wasn't a pen to begin with, thanks to uefa being a big fan of little bitc*h fc) definitely bagged us a point. No sign of weak wrists there. That and his superb save from maxi gomez were his best moments in the game.

Note: the fact that uefa decided to add 7 minutes and just 3 to our game vs ajax just shows once again that underneath the glitz and glamour of that epic champions league theme song, the competition is basically run by morons with their own agenda.

Interesting how a couple of fringe players have muscled their way into the first team, literally out of the blue. Hope we're not underestimating west ham here.

I'm impressed by how reece just shrugged off the attention of antonio there. Lad's an absolute unit laugh.gif
