Dark
A rare sci-fi mind blowing gem from Germany, some will call it a darker, slow burn German version of Stranger Things
First few episodes is a bit slow, you can't really understand on what's going on, I almost drop it after watching the first episode few months back, but once you get past the first few episodes and into the major mind blowing revelation, you can't stop already.

El Camino - The proper send off of Jesse.
This one solely for those who wanted a more definitive closure for Jesse Pinkman. Picking up right after Jesse escapes the meth facility. Gilligan did his usual passive Chekhov's guns set-up that kept you guessing the payoff. It's the last hurrah that won't rival the best Breaking Bad episode but a bittersweet finale that close the final chapter. A great send off or a very well written epilogue. The flashbacks tug your heartstrings with cameos of the who's who of Breaking Bad.
*
yup, finally they put a full stop on the ending of Breaking Bad finale after 6 long years

it's nice to see the returning characters, oh my, Todd has put on lots of weight laugh.gif
Too bad didn't see even a glimpse of Saul, only got a mention, the lawyer laugh.gif

and Bryan Cranston is excellent, feels like he's just walk out from the set of BB 6 years ago rclxms.gif
while the rest of the characters you can notice some differences in term of their acting compared to BB

and... also finally they put the nail in the coffin where there are a lot debates over a popular plot

Don't put too much expectation into The King based on the big names mentioned in the trailer, some of them are just cameo at best

IMO it's just a mediocre medieval movie, the plot & pacing isn't much to shout about, but I love the attention to the details on the armored knights, and I like the final battle too, was expecting a grander scale, guess they run out of budget? or shorthanded? but the long shot is impressive nonetheless.

Dracula
3 part mini series
a fresh retold of a classical tale based on Bram Stoker's Dracula with a modern twist

All of the classical characters made an appearance in this retold take, but with some change of roles from minor to major & vice versa from the original classic.

first arc was nice, 2nd arc is interesting, but final arc ending ruined everything, IMO that's the dumbest twist at the end

Genre: sci-fi
Visual: 4K and Dolby vision

Lost in space is pretty okay but in order to create suspense, the writers and director put no logic in it for ppl with high IQ and drive a spaceship to unknown space.

Example: working on the sea and space without safety rope

No security plans to handle rogue ppl

Always something bad happen in each episode to the main cast

Star trek: Discovery and another life are better
*
Well, it's a rated 7+ show that's targeting young audience, can't expect too much
can't make to story too complicated or too "adult realistic" else the kids will lose interest laugh.gif

another great space sci-fi series was The Expanse, S1 & S2 was briefing shown on Netflix, until Amazon bought over the rest of the seasons right

Ragnarok
One of the rare non-english series coming out from Europe, in this case Land of Vikings, Norway.
Based on Norse mythology (obviously), mortals, gods, "monsters", and the Jotunns conflicts in a remote sleepy town.
There are plenty of hints in the series, although the names aren't called out directly, you can see who's who from the myth, Thor, Loki, Odin, Jotuns & etc...
It's not bad, not the best either, but OK nevertheless
S1 ended in a cliff hanger, damn I hated that... but can't wait for S2 wink.gif

Don't forget the Netflix original docuseries/documentaries

Most if not all are pretty high quality and very very informative

Pandemic to give you more insight on the flu outbreak
Rotten will make you think twice about something that we have taken for granted all this while

October Faction
This is another good example of albeit having a good source material (great comic), but the execution falls flat, face down in a pile of shits

Production value was pretty low for Netflix standard, some CGI was horribly done, and feels very cheap, story was everywhere, plot execution is pretty bad. Seriously, don't waste your time on this crappy series.

I only go look for the comic after finishing it, the comic is waaaaaay better than this crap

Altered Carbon S2

Well, S1 was pretty awesome, loved Joel Kinnaman's version of Kovacs, and there are tonnes of gorey violence plus sex & nudities to goes with it too, special effects are top notch, some detective works there and almost the whole S1 keeping you on edge try to figure out who killed Bancroft

and come S2, which feels underwhelming compared to S1
it feels like it's made with much lesser budgets, and the gore & sex are toned down significantly, and I remember only seeing a pair of MILF tits for few seconds in the final episode tongue.gif
Anythony Mackie is a good actor, but his version of Kovacs is a bit underwhelming also, and his "enhanced super soldier" sleeve are kinda meh as well
Still a good watch, but it's unable to achieve the level of S1

Still watching "Money Heist" season 1... there's already a Season 4? Wow. This show is so raw yet grounded in reality (as in each scenario can occur in the real world).

Heard a lot about "Tiger King" (the most watched TV show on Netflix apparently according to recent ratings), so this should be a good watch.
*
Money Heist S1 & S2 is pretty great, but IMO they dropped the ball by going for S3, IMO they should have ended there at S2
S3 is kinda meh, a lots of their plot doesn't make sense at all unlike S1 & S2

The documentary has more twists than most movies and it's real. So yeah, it's damn good.
1st eps is basically an intro. Once it delve into other owners of exotic cats, the story just gets crazier.

Ozark S3 is slow at first and then ramps up in the last 3 episodes. Damn S3 finale is super intense.

believe it or not, i rewatch ozark season 1 and 2 before getting on the third one. falling in love with julia garner all over again, and that southern accent!!! amazing...
*
Ozark is a great slow burn drama, a BIT similar like Breaking Bad, but I think they managed to up the game in S3

S3 final arch is pretty gut wrenching, I kept rooting for Ben, but at the end... haiz... bye.gif

and again, seems whoever gets near to the Byrde family will get burned, badly...

and the season ending, again, was spectacular unexpected rclxms.gif

Currently watching Demon Slayer anime on Netflix. I've heard alot of praise for this series, but man it really surpass my expectation. The animation is gorgeous and super high quality (ufotable is goddamn god-tier studio), the action is amazing and the story starts off really basic shonen but become more and more interesting as it goes on. I was surprised at how gory it gets at times too. MUST WATCH.
*
yeah, it's good, but if you go looking for the original manga after watching you might be disappointed like me too laugh.gif

I'm having hard time adjusting to the crappy drawings (sorry to say) after the high quality anime

Huh...both season of Castle Rock just released on Netflix. I thought this is Hulu show, guess Netflix got rights for international release.

Anyway I highly recommended it. It's basically Stephen King All-Stars show taking place in Castle Rock town and it's an anthology.
*
yeah, kinda surprised to see it released on Netflix, never see that coming laugh.gif

anyway, it's a very good series, highly recommended, especially for the fans of Stephen King

first season featured the infamous Shawshank prison from the even more famous movie: Shawshank Redemption

there are a few references to it as well thumbup.gif

Is Dark good? I've tried watch ep 1 and fell asleep it's so slow, also this is the whitest cast i've seen in series
*
Last time I did dropped Dark after first episode, like you also it's kinda too slow for me

but last year when I tried picking it up again after hearing lots of praise, rewatching it past ep2, OMG!! the plot is really mind twisting until turning your brain inside out!
I really can't stop binge watch it until end of Season 2, it's really one of the best sci-fi mystery drama out there

My brain took a beating after S3 because this season feels alot more dense than usual (maybe it'll change after a rewatch like S2 did for me).

This show is hands down the best, most complicated and well written time travel story ever. And it even managed to nail the landing. notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif

I have problem finishing S03Ep01, confused.gif confused.gif confused.gif confused.gif question marks keep on appearing on my head at almost every minutes
Mikkel? Micheal? who's the red hair boy again? one armed detective? where's the priest? confused.gif confused.gif
by the end of S03Ep01, I still have problem remembering who's who and who did what in S02, when "Continue next episode" appearing on screen, I quickly stopped it laugh.gif

Guess I gotta find time to re-watch S1 & S2 again laugh.gif
