no surprise there, S1 is a great R rated series
but S2 they tone it down to PG13, the plot also kinda horrible, the animated version is so much better

Sorry to say both of those "child stars" can't really act, especially Daniel-san tongue.gif

watched a few episodes just for the sake of nostalgia, decided to drop it, just can't stand the poor acting and poor fight choreography

They finally added the last 2 seasons of Voltron to Netflix Malaysia. Good lord that took forever.

On the mood for some documentary lately, so I watched this:

The Social Dilemma -- About the predatory nature of social media, their corporations and how the design evolved over the years. Highly recommended. It really highlight how powerless we are against corporations without any proper regulations from the government.

American Murder: The Family Next Door -- About the highly publicized Watts family murder in 2018. Good lord this is harrowing and just all around depressing.

American Vandal season 2 --- This one is actually a mockumentary (as in fake documentary done for comedy). This season saw our favorite investigator pair visiting another school to unravel the mystery of The Turd Burglar. It's so damn good and really funny. Lots of twist too.
*
I thought Voltron was banned here due to the LGBT scenes in the last 2 seasons laugh.gif
anyway, already finished it long ago by using vpn tongue.gif

Now just hope they renew/release another season of Dragon Prince soon

Urghhhhhhh....Netflix cancelled GLOW after renewing them for the final season because of Covid.
*
filming a series that requires extremely close body contact during this pandemic time is close to impossible
even if it's possible, production cost could balloon up for all the extra precautions need to be taken, probably extra cost for covid insurance

who knows, maybe when the pandemic is gone, there will be renewed interest to revive the series, heck some series even waited for decades to have it's next season tongue.gif

The Haunting of Bly Manor

The same casts & producers return for another round of acclaimed "horror" series.
Why the "horror" there? Bcos it's more of a love story than a proper horror.
Loves stories there are the main dish, horror are served as side dish

There are some plot twists there similar to the Hill House, but IMO the main revelation here is kinda underwhelming, also IMO there's too many monologues & repetitive scenes, and some scenes and episodes are kinda boring.

If Hill House is making your skin crawls but this? it's kinda underwhelming... not scary enough
Bend neck lady FTW vs the Lady in the Lake

If I were to rate the Hill House an A+, this Bly Manor only deserve a B-, but nonetheless still a good "horror" show

Yeah, it's good, very good, highly recommend it

even thou I don't play chess at all, most of the chess lingo are like alien language to me, but I've enjoyed this series tremendously

Anya Taylor-Joy as Beth is excellent here, especially her big haunting eyes is mesmerizing

The Liberator

If you are eager to scratch the itch for series like Band of Brothers, this is the one that will ease the itch

Excellent WWII stories told in 4 short "animated" episodes, each detailing the different WWII European campaigns, exposing some sensitive topics that usually weren't told in other war stories.

Are the Nazis really evil? are they the only one that commits war crimes? how were the non-whites US troops are threated by their own?

I rate this as an excellent solid 5/5 miniseries on WWII, the only complain I have is it's too short! wished it has more episodes

doubt there gonna be S2, it's based on a book, and at the war ended at the end, our hero balik kampung already, so that's the end.

It was originally planned as a 8 episodes miniseries on History channel, somehow didn't make it there, and Netflix come to rescue and pick it up, end up with 4 episodes only.

Mosul

A Netflix movie based on a true event about a team Iraqi SWAT team fighting against the Isis in the war ravaged Mosul, their story unfold from the eyes of the new young recruit.

One of the very few (can count by one hand) middle east movies I actually watch. Maybe was having some prejudice against them previously...

But surprised surprised, it is damn good!!!

Story is engaging, action top notch, and boy... the ending is really unexpected!

I wouldn't spoil much of the plot here, but please go watch it.

If compared to the recent action movies by Netflix like Thor's Extraction, this won by miles.

5/5 for me thumbup.gif

Watched 2 episodes, so far pretty awesome. While Money Heist veering off to cartoonish tone, here is a more grounded take on the"gentleman thief" genre. It's sorta reimagining of the fabled Lupin as in what Sherlock did.by BBC. Protagonist on a journey to take his 25 years of revenge mystery. The fresh take is how it incorporates Lupin's lore and tropes within the plot line without being too obvious. Give it a shot and watch the French language for better immersion. The dub is as bad as Money Heist.
*
sounds good, love BBC's Sherlock, wished they make more, gotta catch this one then

Stopped watching Money Heist at S2 Part 2, S1 was awesome, but S2 is getting more ridiculous and like you've said, a cartoonish tone, I find it difficult for me to continue...

White Tiger

It's in the top 10 list of watched recently, and the trailer seems interesting also... The story of an rural low caste indian boy making it in the big cities as crime lord (at least that's what I thought from the trailer), thinking it something similar to the great Sacred Games series...

It started great, but the whole things started spiraling downward and lost steam from the mid arc, and final arc left lots of things half baked and the ending left a weird aftertaste.

I guess they have a great source material, the bestselling book, but eventually failed to adapt it full potential.

6/10 for me

The irregulars: not bad after watching 3 episodes. Paranormal/investigation series. I'm not into all this SJW BS but the main lead is chinese British and most important is she can act.

4K, Dolby Vision, some dark scenes hard to see unless maybe you have OLED screen.

Summary: not boring
*
IDK, I didn't get any motivation to continue after Ep1, I guess the SJW thingy ruined it for me
yeah, nowadays you must cast non-white non-male as the main leads else you gonna draw some flaks from the SJW sad.gif
but for those kind of cast during victoria london? rclxub.gif

special effects are pretty meh too

maybe I'll pick it up again when i got mood

but then netflix we paying so much for the 4k hdr, only their netflix originals is 4k hdr only, so lousy eh. Not sure US punya how..
*
4K HDR content for US also is similar, except they have bigger library for western series/movies

Here we have more Indian, Korean & Indon/Malay movies tongue.gif laugh.gif
half of the daily top 10 sure is K-drama/movie doh.gif

If there's a movie I really want to watch in 4K HDR Dolby Atmos? I'll go look for jack sparrow tongue.gif

but I ain't complaining on the RM55 we paid for the UHD content, it still has more than enough original content for me, just need to find the time to watch nia laugh.gif
still so much better compared to other like Asstro, HBO etc
