Huawei Mobile Services and AppGallery

Huawei Mobile Services are fully open source and will provide the basic functionality that was handled by Google Play Services so far. The company has created a $1 billion investment fund to support and grow the project.

Users will be able to download software from Huawei's AppGallery, which already has 390 million monthly active users and served 180 billion downloads last year.

Looking at it objectively, if what were presented are true to the letter, this is one of the best featured smartphones. I believe desirability for most if not all is very much dependent on the prices.

No you can't really - the only way to get proper Google apps is to root and install a recovery, then sideload the apps using OpenGapps

Well...now Huawei is extra useless thn...cuz they locked the phone to prevent rooting..

Well, if your sole purpose of buying this phone is for the camera (instead of buying digital cameras/DSLRs/etc), this phone should do the job. But if you want access to games and all the normal apps, then it's a risky move to get one.

Imagine the shitshow a huawei retail store will g et if those unker auntie that bought this phone without knowing theres no google services...

and if its a bunch of ah beng's who are employed

their standard reply is "not our fault as US ban us from doing business with Android"
