How do you guys find the lack of physical volume rockers? Annoying especially when trying adjust the volume during calls?
Was thinking of getting the P40 pro but the Mate 30 pro looks pretty good as well coz of the 4500 mAh batt. Only thing holding me off is the lack of AF for selfie cam and the damn volume buttons lol. Would love some feedback on this. This post has been edited by speedbird90: Oct 4 2020, 10:20 AM |

QUOTE(speedbird90 @ Oct 4 2020, 02:27 PM) Yea. After one week, once you found the sweet spot to adjust the volume then it's very easy to do it. But still, nothing beats physical button. That's why huawei is moving back to physical button for upcoming mate 40 pro. |

As a matter of fact I always prefer virtual buttons over physical buttons lol, because I had bad experience in the past that my physical buttons drop out.

Ya, adjusting the in call volume during a phone call is a little bit of a bother, but other than that, no issues whatsoever Was thinking of getting the P40 pro but the Mate 30 pro looks pretty good as well coz of the 4500 mAh batt. Only thing holding me off is the lack of AF for selfie cam and the damn volume buttons lol. Would love some feedback on this. The 4500mAh battery is absolutely amazing though. It is incredibly power efficient, especially during idle standby. |

Haha. Unless you are getting call from mad persons everyday screaming at you. Or a grumpy wife. HahahaThe 4500mAh battery is absolutely amazing though. Mate 30 so much cheaper for almost similar specs and performance. 4500 batt is the winning point for me. Just don't know how the volume keys would play out lol. Phone looks snappy on YouTube reviews, biggest flag would be those damn volume keys lol. The 4500mAh battery is absolutely amazing though. Then sometimes some people use certain headsets dunno why very loud lol. I adjust quite frequent la actually, that's why it's one of my big concerns about this phone. Can't wait for the Mate 40 tho. Now it's like Mate 30 vs P40 or wait for Mate 40 lol. |

Hahaha No la, sometimes when you're in a noisy environment and you have to answer a call, the ability to adjust the in call volume on the fly is pretty important, be it from an angry wife or otherwise, hahaha... But in all honesty, I've not had to do it actually. The default volume I set (about 70% to 75%) works well enough. QUOTE(speedbird90 @ Oct 4 2020, 05:38 PM) Ya, I saw the leaks too. Around 2.5k-2.8k. Mate 30 pro lagi cheap. I found as low as 1.9k also got. So after Mate 40 pro launches, prob wait half a year or close to a year, should be damn good discounts d. Probably waiting for the P40 series to be offered on discount would be wiser. It's just the wait lol, dunno I can tahan so long or not. Tempted to get the Mate 30 pro, but coz of the volume button issue, leaning more towards the P40 pro. But deep down inside, I know I should wait patiently for the Mate 40 pro to be sold second hand haha. That's like almost +/- 1 year. This post has been edited by speedbird90: Oct 5 2020, 10:11 AM |

Then deep down inside of you want the P50 pulak. This cycle never ends one. Get whatever you think good at the moment and forget about this. IMO, P40 Pro screen is just meh. No waterfall display like mate 30 pro. It's just the wait lol, dunno I can tahan so long or not. Tempted to get the Mate 30 pro, but coz of the volume button issue, leaning more towards the P40 pro. Yeah, that's the thing with mobile phones though, if you're waiting for a good deal then the wait never ends as there are always better deals and newer phones around the corner. But you could be an exception though, as not many people are actively hunting for Huawei phones now due to the lack of GMS It's just the wait lol, dunno I can tahan so long or not. If not like u said la, cycle never ends haha. Mana tau marketing for P50 damn strong then hopefully I don't swing towards P50 haha. So I would love to see what the changes are. More efficient power usage, faster etc. Can't wait to find out! I've been tweaking gadgets for years. Rooting android phones, custom ROMs, jailbreaking my iPads etc haha. Love doing things like these so I'm up for the sideload GMS challenge! Plus quite excited to see what Harmony OS will bring. |

Indeed, I'm a little surprised I lasted this long with the phone and without GMS to be honest Coz I expect the Kirin 9000 to be a huge upgrade from the Kirin 990. I just asked a fellow member of the forum if Petal search had a few specific apps I was looking for. He was very helpful and apparently all the apps I need can be found on petal haha. If phone clone fails to bring them over. Looks like I won't be needing GMS as well. Read that GMS really drains the batt. Much better without it if we don't need it. |

But yes, not having GMS certainly helps a lot with the battery life, especially idle battery standby.. |
