Roughly 30000km already on these tires. Still going strong. Going for the 3rd alignment and balancing soon.
It’s still consistent. Heavy rain lately so got to be careful with the puddles.
Went to my usual tyre shop. My rears were gone, well worn and one side had damage -- this is not a fault with the tyre, but external damage that can happen to any tyre. My fronts were still good, shoulder wear due to poor alignment previously but not severe. I could continue using it, but I had to change the rear.
Thought about taking Falken FK510 again and just replace the rear pair, but backside itchy and I have been driving more spirited lately. So decided to go for PS4 for all 4 corners.
PS4 costs ~40% more than the FK510 for all 4 corners. Immediately, I noticed that the PS4 is more responsive in the dry, the FK510 is not slow, but the PS4 is just more responsive to steering input. And, on the same road, same tyre pressure, PS4 feels harsher -- I believe this is due to stiffer sidewalls.
Bear in mind I came from P7 RFT -> FK510 -> PS4. The FK510 was a definite improvement from the P7 in all ways and especially NVH because its not a RFT. The PS4 first impression is quicker/more direct steering response relative to the FK510.
Is the PS4 worth 40% more? I don't know, need to drive in the wet to confirm.
But based on dry performance alone, my answer is no, especially if you ferry people using your car, the FK510, despite "less" responsive, is not poor, and its not as stiff as the PS4.
I still think FK510 is a very good tyre for the price. But I wonder how does
Sime Tyre Continental MC6 compares to the FK510.
