whatsapp does not have a standalone app for apple watch.

please help to try with facebook messenger / telegram / wechat app. thank you smile.gif

tested all 3, my phone airplane mode, watch connected to cellular

all 3 does not receive notification on the watch at all. Once I turn on wifi on my phone (watch still connected to cellular, not connected to phone), and phone gets the notification, the notifications appear on my watch as well.

EDIT: my apple watch S5 is normal aluminium casing, bought from digi RM2099

that applies if watch connected by BT. if stand alone cellular with sim should be independent of phone?

but then why in airplane mode? if want to get notified need to be active.
*
yes bro, you actually no need turn on airplane mode, just turn off bluetooth already can be independent of phone already (means the watch will be using cellular as connectivity).

just want to try different scenario, aka phone totally off (simulated by airplane mode without any connectivity(wifi/cellular)), or phone put at home then you go out with watch only (phone disconnected from watch, make sure watch is in cellular connection)

meaning to say that..as long phone is receiving notification then so as the watch will receive too..

what is the longest time so far you go out with the watch only with cellular/data on?how is the battery consumption?
*
mm.. my workout usually 45mins (warm up + run/jog + cool down).. during this time, battery usually will use around 5% if no music, around 10% if playing offline music, around 15-20% if streaming apple music.. that's all I can say for my usage..

So anyone who use cellular version how was it so far? Is it worth the additional price and subscription with shorter battery life?
*
if it suits your lifestyle then it's worth the additional convenience, otherwise, as I have posted previously, it's not a "must-have"

Thanks bro, but can we reply the whatsapp on on watch?either by voice massage or typing massage?
*
can only reply to the notification.. the behaviour is like your phone's notification.. reply can be either by dictation or writing the letters one by one

Thanks bro...your watch is cellular or gps version?
*
Cellular S5 from DiGi bro, otherwise I wouldn't be able to provide feedback based on the requests here =p

QUOTE(robiburger @ Dec 10 2019, 11:06 AM)
The screen size ok? hard to read messages on the watch?
*
haha, this one very subjective =p Even my previous Series 1 is fine for me. You can adjust the font size on the watch if you have difficulty reading, but for me, default size is good enough.

Hi newbie here..considering AW5 but unsure if cellular or non cellular

is the battery life significantly shorter for cellular version?
*
I think you need to ask yourself, how many hours a day are you away from your phone? The watch will only be in cellular mode if there's no WiFi and no Bluetooth(your phone) to connect to.

For ECG function, can i activate it later in Sg lets say few months down the road after i bought in Msia?

As in i can still use the watch in Msia first and when i travel to Sg later then only activate this function?

Opps if i buy in Msia, it wont have the ECG function at all?
*
if you search within this thread, we already had this discussion before.

Malaysia Apple Watch firmware does not come with the ECG app, so it is not possible to "activate" it anywhere.

If you get your apple watch from ECG-enabled country, you will see the ECG app on your watch even if you are in malaysia. However, if you have never open the app while in Sg or US or HK (basically any ECG-enabled country), if you try to open it in Malaysia, you will encounter some error, thus not able to "activate" it.

Once you have "activated" the ECG for the first time, a flag will be set in your health data, which is sync to icloud. So the next time you reset/re-pair your Apple Watch, your ECG app will be activated automatically no matter where you are.

This is Apple's current implementation, we cannot be sure of what changes Apple will make for this in the future.

So, will we be able to see our own ECG in our phone app? I mean if I bought the watch somewhere else, enabled it and using it in Malaysia. Will I be able to see the history of my own ECG in my phone?
*
if let's say you buy in SG, when you pair to your watch, you'll see the ECG app. When you open the ECG app for the first time, it'll prompt for activation. After that first activation, you'll be able to use it anywhere because the feature is activated and saved in your icloud health data already.

Do you think if you bought a Malaysian watch, and then travel to Singapore, can you activate it when you are there?
*
even if you travel to singapore, your device is still malaysian device, by default, it doesn't come with the ECG app itself, so how are you gonna "activate" there?

Hi , can i know whether it need the iPhone to be as SG set also just the Apple Watch form SG & activated there is good enough? Thanks
*
phone no need ecg-enabled country model .. as long as your Apple Watch model is from ECG-enabled country, when you set it up, you will see the ECG app. When you open the ECG app, you must be in ECG-enabled country in order to activate.

So to conclude of getting a full features of AW, you only need to activate ECG in the enabled region. Other than this, all others features are available once you activated your AW regardless in any country?

Just to make sure only ECG need to do it in sg and not to miss out any feature then need to go back sg again. Haha
*
not sure whether the irregular heartbeat thingy is activated by itself.. just buka all the apps on the watch while in SG xD

any of you signed up the AW from Digi or any telco? feedback?
*
what feedback are you looking for? I've been using DiGi AirSIM since launch, since this is the first time malaysia has this feature, so not sure how to compare, so it is better if you have ask questions and we answer them for you? Some questions may have already been asked few times before, you can search the thread before asking.

all i can see is about ECG thingy haha... anyway wonder if you can address some of my concerns: -

a) can we buy AW from machine or other shop, then go to digi to get the airsim?
b) how long is your AW lasted before you charge it again?
c) making and receiving call via AW - is the quality decent and clear?
*
malaysia unit no ECG until MOH approval.

a) yes, as long as cellular unit.
b) i turn on all feature, my morning starts from 6.30am, my workout usually 5 - 6pm, around 10pm usually around 30% plus minus. I leave it on charger overnight, I wear my series 1 as sleep tracker.
c) i would say it's almost same as if you're on speakerphone.

charging overnight wont shorten your battery lifespan? i always have that kind of thought...
*
i am not gonna debate with you on this, but let me tell you this, the best battery killer is heat, this applies to all batteries. Of course other things can factor but nothing else have a more significant effect on battery cells than heat.

My model is MWT42ZP/A. Where is it from?
*
ZP used to be HK and singapore was using ZA, but nowadays I think both HK and Singapore are using ZP, so most likely your watch is SG set.

EDIT: looks like it's swapped now, it used to ZA - sg set, ZP - hk set. But looking around now, ZA - hk set, ZP - sg set. Old info: iPhone Wiki Model Region

I managed to get ECG working on my AW. COOL STUFF!!
*
congrats! I believe using this method you will not be able to sync your health data or at least that ecg activation flag to icloud, so you will need to repeat it if you want to re-pair your apple watch, but no matter, it's just a little trade off =p remember to "properly activate" your ECG if you ever travel to SG/HK or other ECG-enabled country.

I managed to sync my health data to my iphone. Yet to try out syncing to icloud.
*
sync to iphone definitely no problem. I was saying sync to icloud. The reason cannot sync because the health data was 'tampered'. I could be wrong though, because all these information are from other users.
