yup my setup is 2.0...so far i think my AE100i produce enough bass...so no need sub...i using iBasso to connect to pc and yulong stereo amp...now funding for soundstage 1.0 or 1.5 coz need tube to tame my speaker a little bit

For best prices for Soundstage amps, you can PM me. The Soundstage 1.5SE @ 55w x 2 is just awesome sounding. Furthermore, in the future you can make a simple tube upgrade to Electroharmonics Gold or Mullard tubes or even change the IEC power cables to better ones.

dun choose logitech x240 =sound vry thin and cheap bass

altec vs4121 =nice oso but not every ppl will like its bass(very bommy and will make u feel uncomfortable) and mid range quite poor ( i own it)

vs2321 =if u choose this,u better choose vs4121

atp3 =not much different with vs4121

so,at ur budget,i will recomend u a brand called Edifier,model is m3300,sound better than my altec lansing vs4121

you can have a full list of suggestions and why's
but you still gotta go out there and audition them and pick the one that suits you
i been through 2 hellish weeks of researching and pestering the sifus for the best speakers
and i ended up buying one that is twice my budget, BUT i'm 101% satisfied with it

i will read almost every review and benchmark on the internet b4 buy any new things,spend almost one month on research b4 i buy my laptop,speaker as well

Hey, everyone. I just wanna ask. What is 2.0 2.1 4.1 5.1 speakers? What's the difference? I thought i could have the cheapest elegant-look speakers. Do I really need to spend RM200+ just for speakers?? I use my comp for games and video editing. nice music as well. Recommendations?

Wanna know, what is the cheapest speaker, 5.1 that has digital input?

2.0, 2.1, 4.1, 5.1: The first digit means number of speaker. The second number is the number of subwoofers. How much you spend depends on your budget and your preference. More is better ofcourse. If your low demand user, by all means get a lower end speaker. But ussually those who would surf in this thread wants something better i guess.

As for sound card, a decent card would be around that price and then some more. Yes, if you got good speakers, you need it because what is the point of having good speaker whereas the source is terrible. On the other hand, no point having good source if your using normal speakers either.

wanna ask if the "350MB Internet version" of tv shows like prison break, heroes, smallville, etc support 5.1 surround sound or not? and if yes, what would be a good budget 5.1 system under RM300?

priority is for music and movie playback, gaming not too important. would be nice also if it came with a wireless remote (who am i kidding? lol)

You can check the video file properties. I got few episodes of Prison Break with 6 channel, I can't feel the surround effect because I'm using 2.1 speaker. While I had Tokyo Drift (internet version) file size around 1.3GB, my friend watch this movie with z5500. I can feel the surround effect !

I suggest you save more money to get a better 5.1 speaker

if i were to get a 5.1 but not want to spend too much, what would be the price range? (assuming i really dont want to spend much).

under RM400 can? just want something that has ATP3 or higher sound quality but in 5.1, dont need super powerful bass (dont really like it), just need something good for movies and music (mostly music)
