if you can found brand new GMX at 399 (not ex display) then look no further. just buy it. some disadvantage is unshielded remote unit, so put your phone near the volume control and u hear loud static EM noise.

the gmx is vanishing in msia, get it before it totally disappear in the market. (u can check many threads recently shows many ppl look for new gmx but no luck)

Off topic  biggrin.gif  Huh? You are not from Malaysia then where are you from??
Really?? I thought mx5021 was best to boom already within rm500.
*
lol im from sg. i thought its obvious cause i use sgd currency when posting here. laugh.gif

sad there is no Z2300 in singapore. im not sure why, but it just there isn't any. i cant audition. wanna know how boom it is lol.
mx5021 is good, but the new batch getting worse. my friend bought it with me last month.

when i come to his house. not impressed at all. maybe because his floor is wood, same as my room.

Ohya, you are the one who always uses SGD hahah, how much will a z2300 cost?? Might get 1 set in the future when I continue my studies abroad, since I'm using m3300 now, wanna try boom boom speaker  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif
*
lol i gave up my m3300 cause i need some boom. using r501 now. quite boomy after used to ifi. but satisfied. Z2300 is about US$ 150 i think. while actually i suggest klipsch if u goin to states, although their promedia and gmx boomy, still have some mid and high, unlike Z2300 (i watch couple of videos where its bass almost pawned all its midrange and high) laugh.gif

I tested C3 and S330 and seriously I was very kinda disappointed as everybody was bragging how good they were, but i think that its just that my ears are too picky. They indeed sounded clearer but bass was really soft.

Awaiting my Titanium Fatality PRO, wondering how the the sound quality becomes with it.
*
you should understand, sometimes people preference are totally the opposite. also, edifier are more popular in this forum, so thats the answer. for my ears, both C3 and S330 subwoofer are not acceptable for subwoofer that size and price, hence i decided to go get the R501. with 3 additional satellites. of course it doesnt rich in bass like klipsch or logitech, but for the price i find it more acceptable then 2 others.

lolz ... never mind ... I can sell to my fren , he is bass head ... I am not really basshead who like to listen song like clubbing song , I like MUSIC listening , relax .. but bass sufficient ,,,

Any good 2.1 speaker around Rm500 ?
70% music , 20% movies , 10% gaming ... prefer clarity and detail... satisfy if bass sufficient or higher .... thank thank
*
if you prefer clarity that much you should have get edifier S330 (400) in the first place. and, getting demo unit is not a good idea. cause wear and tear is relatively high. even the gmx i used to own is much superior than in the shop that has the demo unit i used to visit.

weaker than m3300 anot ? because I used to listen my sister m3300 , so as long clarity wont lose than m3300 , then ok edi ... lolx
*
i've not heard z2300 yet but many said it has terrible satellite. for gmx, it should be bright, not as bright as M3300 though, because M3300 bass is less. if you dont like GMX, getting Z2300 is even worse, because logitech focuses on 8 inch boomy subwoofer and a small midrange without tweeter.

if you like M3300 too much, the proper upgrade would be S330, enough said. for better money, you can opt for Aego M.

u can always listen to S330 since its widely available rather than gmx.
personally find it bright and crisp, but midrange and subwoofer are rather weak.

since GMX is rather disappear, you can try edifier C3, S330 and R501 for 400, more budget you can go for S530 and S730. S2000 is the best way if you got the budget.

1) as I mention , does s330 better than m3300 bass  ?
2) midrange meaning ?
3) z2300 clarity better or weaker than m3300 clarity ?
*
both has similar subwoofer driver. i do not like both subwoofer hence i cant explain.
i only own M3300 in the past, never own S330. even though i have listened couple of times, it is not as good as owning it.

midrange, well your midrange. the sound between the treble and subwoofer produce.
for a simple example, Dolby Mobile please jump to 2:00

and as for the Z2300, im 99% sure it;s worse than M3300 in clarity. midrange wise, not really sure. ive only heard them in youtubes.

dude you can just read reviews online, there are tons of it saying how Z2300 sounds.

lol its not they dont produce, its they dont export their speakers anymore, which means they also stop making the 230V version as well, i think.

i strongly recommend u the edifier S330. its most-likely your type...

yala.. but i dunno why they still have their igroove still selling around here.

anyway another klipsch root product, jamo i200, damn bright and clear sound. got listened once before, the clear and crispiest among the rack. competitor like go+play, if500, onstage all lose in terms of clarity. too bad only for ipod. laugh.gif

Does it capable to create 5.1 surround sound? From review it doesnt really show it
Or its just like any 2.1 that we are paying high price for the RAZERĀ® logo?
*
According to this article, i do not think Razer Mako has surround like the z-cinema and companion 5. it does not use usb, i guess it only use stereo 3.5mm jack. how can it be surround then? although it says by virtue of design razer mako has surround effect.

Em, just curious, how on earth are you going to create the feeling of being surrounded with only 2 speakers? xD
*
for the Bose C5 and Z cinema, i know both of them uses USB connector and they receive 5.1 signal. so the signal is then somehow given to the 2.1 plus the surround effect. but for the razer, it only receive 2.0 (stereo) signal, i don't think it can work like the C5 or Zcinema laugh.gif

anyway, i think for 2.1 surround computer speaker, so far these 2 models only... i love the remote of Zcinema, plus the cheaper cost than Bose. only have quick listen to both of them. cant comment.

thanks for the comment. So do u know anywhere i can test the z-surround for real? Dont say any computer shop? Be specify if possible because most computer shop only display low end speakers.
*
hmm, i don't reside in msia so i dont know where to test., perhaps logitech fans club can advise?

before auditioning, i only like to highlight the Z cinema internals, which i found quite "slim" for a speaker that size & price.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

the use of switching power supply and slim amp shown. not sure why, but im sure logitech spent another portion of money for the surround ability, and especially the remote, which i ultimately fell in love with. laugh.gif even though razer and bose have cool wired remote, the z cinema media centre remote is definitely way cool'er for me, especially for a person like me, who often change tracks and volume everyday.

oh yea i forgot. it's not so famous now i thought already discontinued. but probably he want something more since he has the budget.
GT5051 also use 5.1 input, like the c5 and zc but in analog mode. how much is it?

should be no problem if it has line-in features, which is very common in nowadays' systems. once i plugged in to my laptop, a '96 sony FH system, and works perfectly thru line-in. extremely bulky though.

QUOTE(ArianneG @ Oct 11 2009, 03:47 PM)
Hi all. Newbie here. Can someone recommend me a set of 5.1 speakers with good bass and treble and clear sound? My budget is around RM400 or less. I will be using the speakers mostly for music listening, lots of classical, choral and rock like AC/DC and Metallica.

Saw a store in Subang selling Altec Lansing VS3251 (IIRC the series number correctly, definitely VS-something) speakers for RM365; would that be a good buy?
*
i may want to recommend Edifier R501. im using it now. for the price, cant complain.
