Not sure if there has been any info before, but I hv been testing this media player - M9702 player. Its an interesting player to say the least.. There are 2 HDMI outputs (1 X 2.0, 1X1.4 audio only), gigabit LAN port, and 1 usb to TTL port for future upgrades and 1 optical out. The player runs off Oppo jalbreak firmware (latest version), supports HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. It seems to play everything that the JB Oppo plays (ie, UHD iso, BD iso, BD folders, mkv etc) and supports Dolby Atmos & DTS X bitstreamed. I will add pictures later if possible but its the only Dolby Vision playback device (for iso and folder structure) that I see in the market now. I'm not sure how long it will last as it uses the same Mediatek 8581 chip that the Oppo and Pioneer UHD players use. It also plays SACD iso. Added info: Does not come with a BD-ROM so only plays iso, files etc. Comes with a backlit remote. Oppo remote works as well if u have one lying around. YouTube review by a spanish AV group. M9702 YouTube Review Part1There are 3 parts, u can check them all out. The latest units do not have the coaxial out. This post has been edited by anfieldude: Aug 27 2019, 04:28 PM

QUOTE(tmc @ Aug 27 2019, 01:48 PM) Its USD399 for now, but some groups in Spain and Italy have done bulk buys that drops the price to USD300. This includes shipping. My set shipped via FedEx and came in 2 days, but the seller is based in China, so I'm not sure how it applies to others for now.

QUOTE(tmc @ Aug 27 2019, 01:58 PM) Anything this box can do other boxes cannot do ? It plays UHD iso / folders in Dolby Vision and HDR10+ . It also plays the media back correctly in any colour space that u select, ie YCbCr 4:2:2 / 4:4:4 correctly and because the conversion from 4:2:0 is done correctly the picture is sharper. Autoframe rates work without glitches as well (but some media players get this right as well). It is not Android based (Linux based OS) so no apps etc.

It uses the same Mediatek Chip as the Oppo. I have not seen any differences to the Oppo 203 that I have but will spend more time and add the 1st post if I do see anything out of place.

The UI is exactly the same as Oppo and it runs on the Oppo 20x Jailbreak firmware. The one on mine is the latest firmware 65-0131. I added a link to a video review in the 1st post. U can see the UI and others, but need to turn on subtitles. This post has been edited by anfieldude: Aug 27 2019, 02:28 PM

QUOTE(myxery @ Sep 3 2019, 12:19 PM) where to buy this product? If u google "m9702 player" the 1st search result will give u a bd-mod site that allows u to order online and pay via paypal. That's how I bought mine. The other way is to join the next group buy with avpassion (spanish forum) and pay about USD100 less than direct buy and the shipping is done individually ( u will need to get intouch with the avpassion folks and I believe they will tell u how to proceed) with tracking.

QUOTE(Fusion @ Sep 3 2019, 03:48 PM) anfieldude...have you received the player? could you post a short review of the player? Yes I received it within 2 days of purchase. So far it works just like my jailbroken Oppo 203. Dolby Vision works great. It also supports HDR10+ but I have not tested this as I don't have a Samsung player. I tested the colour gamut and it's exactly the same as the output as the Oppo. HDR2020 to SDR2020 is broken just like the Oppo 203 as the gamut is shrunken to Rec709. This might be a mediatek chipset issue.

thanks. it sounds like a bargain.
have you tried any other Media Player like Egreat as a comparison to Oppo or M9702? i am currently using Egreat so i am not sure if the M9702 will be an improvement to the egreat.
from some forum, they mentioned that the M9702's visual is as good as the Oppo but the Audio segment is no where near Oppo quality even with the M9702 upgraded version with Talema transformer.

I do have the Himedia Q10pro to compare and the video output of the M9702/Oppo is better in the sense that its mainly due to the ability to convert 4:2:0 to 4:2:2 or 4:4:4 correctly. Plus u can select the desired output u want and it sticks. The Android based players are finicky and sometimes drop to 8bit outputs that is inferior for 10bit content. The audio differences I have to validate as I find it hard to believe that if the output is bitstreamed and the digital to analogue conversion is done by ur AVR, it can actually be different. But who knows. When I find the time, I will try to see if I can test it in detail. One thing that no other media player can do is the ability to play Dolby Vision content both TV Led and Player Led, so this is the bonus.

thanks for the feedback.
For the finicky issue of the 8bit content, i encounter the same issue with my egreat as well. i realized that this is due to the projector/AVR. when i turn on the egreat first and let it boot up before i turn on the rest, it will stay at 10 bit but if the sequence is wrong, the AVR will somehow force the egreat to 8bit. Maybe Himedia Q10pro faces the same issue. i used to think that a player should not affect the sound as conversion is done on the AVR but after trying out several different player, i find that the sound has the biggest impact compares to image quality. different player has different characteristic of sound. some can be very bright and sharp while some could sound very mellow and less dynamic.
