No wonder la.
Maybe you can buy all SIM from the telcos to try?
Based on your speedtest, Unifi Air speeds seems unstable in your area.

I went to another area with band 40 and the speed around the same.

really starting to suspect it's because i'm using a phone.

What phone you are using currently?
Well cannot rely on phone so much, there is a possibility that the line there is crowded also.
Or maybe the line for Band 40 also not so strong, so it will affect the speed also.
There is a lot of possibilities here.

a lowyat user who is an agent helped me checked and he said that area not congested. i'm going to go to an area that is shown to have coverage on the unifi air map and do another test.

the phone is a old redmi

i think it's redmi 4

Well it is an old phone, cannot expect much to have amazing speeds.
Maybe if you buy a router, maybe can get better speeds overall.
But that is also depends on how strong the Band 40 or 38 coverage are.

For me non peak is around in the 1 am to 4 pm.

I am using it outside of Unifi Air coverage, they have upgraded my area with Band 40 which previously only Band 5 but did not update the map yet.
Around Centrepoint, Seremban.
Got 5 main taman around there.

Where did you buy your b618 router from?

can anyone explain why this 818 is selling for even cheaper than the b618?

I'm so confused by all the different prices and variance in models.

I buy B818 from Lazada.
SING4G the name of the seller.
So far so good.
B618 is OOS during that time, so I just buy B818.

This one?

Can you use it to lock to band 40?

I tested at my new house again and it sometimes jumped to band 1 rclxub.gif

Wait, since when unifi Air got Band 1?
*
It doesn't

Straight cannot use internet laugh.gif

Thanks.

The speed is still okay when using band 40 so I guess I'll buy this router and see if I can get a consistently decent speed

You can use HManager to lock the band.

I got my Huawei b818 and I tested it from 730pm to 8pm

Speed around 10mbps to 20mbps. Sometimes suddenly dip to 2.

Is this normal speed for that time?

Will test the off peak speed on Saturday.

Also, my router already shows it is at 3 bars, is there any chance that getting an external antenna would help with the speed?

LPDA 1 unit is rm75.. need 2 so 75x2 = rm150

the bracket is the same for tv antenna.. around 8-10 ringgit.. the metal pole is around 10-15 ringgit.. all i bought from hardware shop..

no cost of installation as i did all by myself since I have all the tools (power drill etc).. just need chair/staircase to install

if you are not confident to install urself, maybe mytv@freeview installer can setup the pole everything for you..
*
did the antenna come with an installation guide? I'm not very good with these sorts of things sweat.gif

Well your SINR is quite bad.
Maybe congested.
*
I tested around off peak hour though. Maybe its because I'm right at the edge of the band 40 range.(it literally changes to band 5 if I walk to the next room)

Gonna try it with external antennas. Hopefully it will help.

I got unifi air sim only and was wondering whether it can work with mobile router like TP-Link M7200. Anyone have any experience?
*
It will work if it supports band 38 and 40.
