There was a topic on how to connect hypptv wirelessly somewhere on this forum. Search for it because I also cannot memorize its link..

Anywhere, the easiest way to connect stb is by using home plugs. No hassle at all. I'm also using home plug.. No need to figure out anything, other than how to pair the home plugs, then connect lan #4 to one of the home plug.. done..

Dear TS,

Your STB dont have wifi feature. Supposedly ok using the home plug. Not sure what is wrong. I suggest you to change the new STB that have wifi feature. Report 100 and ask for change.

There is theorically a convoluted way to add WiFi support. No guarantee that it will work, but if you have some money to spare it’s worth a shot.

First you need an AP. Any AP will do, as long as it can deliver Wireless N or better. Do NOT use a Wireless router since it will NAT the incoming connection, and you do NOT want it to do that. You need an AP only device.

You will also need a WiFi to Ethernet extender.

Theoretically a pair of D-Link DAP-1665 should do the job- one act as AP, the other act as Extender.

Power up the AP. Configure the AP with a private address (192.168.x.y). Plug in the AP to the IPTV port of the router. Power up the router.

Power up the Ethernet converter, again configure it with a 192.168.x.y address, but different one from the AP. Configure it to connect to the AP although it’d be smart to have “x” with the same value.

Now plug the Hypp TV box into the Extender. Power it up.

Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I’ve not tried it myself, but in theory it should work.

Good luck!

Honestly tho, I’ve went the very easy route and sideloaded the Play@UniFi app (tablet version) onto an Android box since I signed up for the 2-devices-free promo. It still doesn’t have some channels for some reason (ie Australia+ TV) but for me, it’s good enough.

Sometime ago, I called TM, asking to change for stb that has build in wifi.. They said they wont do it unless the original stb is broken.. So, now, I'm still using stb first version, connected via home plugs..

They will replace by giving you two option. Option 1, you gotta pay around 300 for the new stb (no need to extend contract) or option 2, they'll replace it for free but need to extend your acc on a new contract for 2 years. Or there's another option, which is buying a used one (should be cheaper than buying from TM, can try looking around in garage sales thread, or at mudah) and call TM to change the stb MAC address in your account.

Damnn ... TM didnt even told me all the choices that you mentioned above.. They just blatantly told me, i cannot change it unless it's broken. Full stop.. Anyway, thank you for the information.. I think I'm going to stay with my current stb after reading all the cons about wifi stb (low quality and not using separate bandwidth)..
