New Rubber Compounds
- New formulation of full silica tread compound that contacts the ground in micro-scale resulting in better grip throughout the life of the tyre.
- New formulation of full silica tread compound that bonds stronger from filler to filler, resulting in minimized wear leading to longer mileage.

25% More Mileage
- MICHELIN ENERGY XM2+ Tyres lasts 25% longer compared to other premium tyre brands.*
* The new MICHELIN Energy XM2+ lasts longer than premium competitors by 25% . Longevity test conducted by China Automotive Technology and Research Center Co.,Ltd (CATARC) (an independent 3rd party), on Michelin's request, in September 2018 in TianJin, China, on dimension 205/55 R16 91V on Volkswagen GOLF7 comparing MICHELIN ENERGY XM2+ versus Premium Competitors (figures represent the average of 5 other premium brands). XM2 lasted up to 115k km (6 years usage) with 2 mm residual thread depth for my Avanza.
Can XM2+ do much more than that ?

The tires will be crazy noisy by the time it almost time to change. Harder compound usually last longer also noisier.

More noice and less contact due to low rolling resistance.

Really not recommended for normal user expt grab or taxi.

I am using XM2 on one of my car. Amazing when it's new. But once pass the half way mark, it's so noisy and the grip was no where near when I was new.

Yup. Did 54k km on them and changed them. Noisy and bad chipping at the tread face.

None of them last as long as XM series and Dunlop is crap on wet roads. I drove a car with these and skidded at a highway turn off. Luckily I have Takumi godlike skills to correct the car before it rams the barrier.

I also think the same. The price I can get Toyo TR1, add a tiny bit getting Potenza R030.

I was quoted RM225 per piece for 195 55 15 of the XM2+.... Yokohama Advan Fleva only RM195, Potenza RE003 for RM190, Hankook Evo2 for RM185, Toyo TR1 for RM190...

Was quoted yoko bluearth rm140/pc for 185/60/14, including installation, labour, rubber valve, alignment, balancing. Should be good price I think.

How long can XM2+ last? How long did XM2 last previously?

Usually UHP tyre last roughly 2~2.5 years. Some even shorter

It depends on the driver's needs.

I vote on better grip, handling & safety

Wow.. all the while we're told it's 5 years but if I had Continental tires, I would try to see how long it would last.

Since my wife Rio came with CSC5, I think I would try to go for 10 years. The car has only done 13K and tires still look great. I was considering to change since tires were manufactured in 2014. Now I can be assured.

Any idea if the new material is of lower (manufacturing) cost with reduced tyre life, or otherwise ?

My tire size is 185 R60 15, today I just changed 2 x XM2 tyre as due to no stock for XM2+,
RM215 per pcs, free balancing, how come there is no discount for old stock even I ask them for many times?

This is Micheline dealer in Penang.

Thanks.
More grip and quieter would likely mean softer rubber material leading to shorter tyre life in relation to harder XM2.
At similar price levels I would give it a miss as I don't see having problem with so called XM2 noise.

Finally put the xm2+ (175/65/R15) on my car. Same tread pattern. Was thinking of upgrade to the primacy 4 (195/60/R15) but the xm2 arrived just on time. Their price is almost same for the same tyre figures.

After 500km done, the new Xm2+ Much for silent than xm2. Because they shared the same compound with primacy4 (as well as the silence feel) and could be as silent as primacy4. Tested on the most noisy flyover that I have to take it almost everyday(few km). Before this I can’t hear the lower volume music when I on that flyover (really noisy) Now it can hear it clearly.

And the most beautiful part is.... My car readings have 2.5km/L more compare to previous tyres. 13.5Km/L become 16km/L

As for performance don’t compare with the premium sport tyres as its not gonna performs as good as ps4 ps3 or any other thinker sidewall tyres, so xm2+ are relatively weak at super fast corner, mine is 65 profile. But It still can drive quite aggressively even on the wet and brake very well. I think it’s gonna be good with 55 profiles.

The other day I hit a big holes (on both passenger side front and back tyres) the round big one without the steel cover!!! I thought my tyres with stuck in the holes!!!! Guess what? And surprisingly no issue even with the rim. This tyre can absorbs super harsh road conditions!!

Plan to change to Michelin XM2 Plus soon as well, from Proton's stock Silverstone sweat.gif ; but the price right now seems a little high, so may wait for another couple of months.

Thanks for the review.

Oops , yes mine is XM2 .
Someone here quoted sources saying XM2+ is said to be quieter than XM2 , so I would speculate its rubber compound is softer with shorter tyre life .
Maybe someone can enlighten us XM2+ wear index ??

Just changed to XM2+ 185/60/R15. Threadwear 420.
Initial impression it's superb quiet, much quieter than another "green eco saving" tyre.

XM2+ 185/60R14. Just changed all 4 tyres at RM 170 each, inclusive of balancing at Klang. I was quoted RM 180 during Oct.

Not sure if this price is cheaper than most. Just FYI.

I was quoted RM200 each 175/65 R15 which include of balancing, alignment and valve if I change 4 tyres. Not sure is cheap or not. Shop in Puchong.

Tyre shop in Klang quoted me RM 190 each which inclusive of Balancing & rubber valve only.

Based on my past experience, when changing 4 tyres at 1 go, this shop usually quote the price inclusive of balancing, alignment & new rubber valve for each new tyre.

However, my car didn't need alignment this time after test drive. Partly because last balancing & alignment was done not long ago (less than 1k km), and I use back my own metal valve.

I know many tyre shops use the following technic to attract customer at borderline of dishonest way:
1. Very cheap tyre with hidden cost. Cut our throat at balancing / alignment / etc.
2. Must adjust chamber or else can't do alignment properly. In most cases, this is bullshit. smile.gif

But this shop is not 1 of them, at least in my opinion for so many years. If you're really keen to change this month (since price may fluctuates monthly), I can help you to find out the nett price. You may PM me your tyre specification and other services you want to include.

Is the heavier feeling comes from the installed tyre pressure being on the lower end ?

nah, checked and adjusted tyre pressure immediately after the installation, maybe the previous EP150 was really that bald theres not much rolling resistance i'm not sure it sure as hell doesn't look that bad.

in fact i might go as far as saying FC improved

Without obtaining confirmation from you numerically , I would speculate car OEM manufacturer recommended 30/32(?) psi is being followed by the air 'pumper' .

At tyre manufacturer permitted psi of say, 36 - 40 the car steering simply can't be heavier , doesn't matter China or Michelin tyres .

Science suggests rolling resistance of brand new soft tyres increases relatively to your 'throw away' hardened tyres , everything else being equal .

Your statement in bold above is contrarian to science .

Edit: Am not trying to be argumentative ( with your statement in bold) , but to straighten up the wrong to the right .

that's quite alright, you learn something new everyday.

I mean my experiences are purely based on my layman understanding, the new Xm2+ definitely felt heavier than the previous ones but FC did improve.

All in all, pretty happy with it but lets see long term usage, i did have XM2s before and they were good while new but after a certain amount of time, it became very loud, lasting yes, but loud also a resounding yes lol

I see, Bridgestone ER33 used to be premium touring tyre, for those Camry, Accord luxury car.
XM2+ is actually same range with Ecopia EP300, budget economic tyre (expensive due to Michelin brand). For direct replacement of your previous ER33, it should be Primacy 4 series which also designed for luxury car.
However, i'm still amazed with the silence of this XM2+ on my Polo Sedan, it was so silent until I can hear my shock absorber working psst psst driving on 80km/h above :-)

I used Michelin XM for 4 years, first two years was more quiet and comfort with low mileage. Once it reached 20k km above, it started to get noisier and harder feeling. By the time it reached 4 years, the side wall of 4 tires were cracking a bit, though the threads are ok.

Not sure xm2 + has improved on this ?

Just changed mine from Primact ST3 to this XM2+ at Oscar Tyre. Why XM2+? Because they don't have stock for Primacy4. Too bad though...... So decided to give XM2+ a try. My tire size is 205 55 R16. Total damage = Tire (RM259 each) + rubber plug (RM5 each) + aligment (Rm20). Use credit for tires with 2% charge. The price is really reasonble and I don't think can it else where.

It is no doubt and no fair comparison between the new XM2+ against the 5 years old ST3. XM2+ is more quieter, comfort, less bumpy after installation. Just feel that the tire should not the type very quiet tyre but acceptable level at this price range. Let see how it goes after 2~3 years usage.

that's quite alright, you learn something new everyday.

New tyre will definitely feel heavier than almost bald ones.

FC improved bcos any new tyre offer better grip. All tyres of same size usually give similiar FC rate.

so the next time i change tyre i went back to my regular place.expensive a little but get good services.fair to say,u get what u paid for,but acceptable for me.

Lately I surveyed the 185/55/R16 XM2+ at SKC Ampang Waterfront, quoted me RM212 per piece including tyre balancing.
I don’t know about 195/50/R16 price.

Hi everyone,

I changed my 175/65r14 XM2 tyres to XM2+

I realize that they are doing a strange noise, seems like they are sticking to the road. Some guys said me that new tyres do it, but I have done 150KM now and they keep doing the same noise.

Did this happen to anyone else?

Nothing is more true than this. Just changed 4x pilot sport 4 205/50R16 @ RM336 excluding the rubber valves.

Things they "sold" to me
1. Your rims are dented, we can fix it
2. Your alignment is out & we couldn't fix it without a special "screw"

I refused both, & they didn't do a good alignment ( I could read from the monitor)

Conclusion: just buy the tires from them & do the fixing etc at the workshop you trust.

Their price is just too competitive compare to other.

Do other shop accept installation without buying their tyre?

Does it sound as if your tyre have a layer of glue and when moving making some weird sticky/mushy like noise? My current Primacy3ST have the same ’sticky noise’ and it’s where the same silica compound xm2+ get from. I believe it is for noise deadening as my previous set with PS3 does not have this effect and make much more road noise.

It doesn’t but well think positively, that small noise over there helped you reduced a lot of dreadful road noise. I’m okay with it😄

Thanks for mentioning about the ‘noise’, now we can confirm indeed xm2+ have been upgraded with the silica compound from its primacy siblings. Hope it means better nvh + wet grip. I’m gonna change it to my other car soon.

About it you are right lol
I had xm2 in my car and changed to xm2+. The xm2+ is so much quieter.

I realize that the noise was louder in the first km, now with 300km is more quiet. I can heard yet, but is very low now.

I have changed to xm2 + after using xm2 for almost 4 years and 80k km. Using 185/65 R15 standard size although been recommended to change to 195/55. But i prefer every thing at stock and standard. There are probably about 2 - 3 mm left at the TWI but there are chipping here and there and i think its time to change.

Cost RM180 per donut after nego from RM185. Free balancing and alignment and steel valves at TMK Rawang. Took Thailand made (week 45/19) rather than China although China ones were newer by a few weeks. China made got yellow and green lines on the thread which i was told would disappear after a few km of driving.

Looks very similar to xm2 except for a + on the side wall. Very silent and hopefully can last at least another 80k km.

I recently changed 185/55 R16 wheel from my local car workshop at RM270 including everything.

Old stock Conti Premium Contact was chipping away so dont feel good using it.

Is that the normal price since the price is on the less common size?

Had previous experience in XM2+ and XM2 at smaller wheel size. So roughly know what to expect.

Printed on the tyre on the "inner" side not on "outside" side of the tyre. You may need to take out the tyre from the car to see it.

yes, ES32 wet handling quite good for eco comfort tyre, just that it isn't quiet. after change to XM2+ I was surprised by so much quieter my ride now.

hi, is XM2 + better in wet handling compare to ES32. Thinking of changing to XM2 + or Yokohama ES32. thanks

Rarely got chance outstation with XM2+ due to this covid-19 pandemic, think only once or twice outstation met heavy rain driving highway with XM2+.
in my memory ES32 wet handling better, 2018-2019 especially I always night driving outstation, met a few times heavy rain and still feel confident car in-control, but not so on XM2+, just my feel.

i think i have made up my mind for XM2+.. tongue.gif

wet grip for both should be similar, bluearth has harder sidewall = better cornering / XM2+ softer sidewall = more silent + absorb bump / good for bad road

I once a while speeding but everyday fetch children and drive through lousy road

Currently on Toyo Neo3, overall quite good, betting money on this XM2+ for better tongue.gif

I would say due to covid-19 pandemic, I travel lesser this year and zero outstation. So far only daily to Putrajaya for work 60km round trip. Yes it's still quiet but not as silent as new, can hear little bit of road surface noise. So far dry gripping still ok, but I preferred wet gripping from the earlier brand. Overall satisfied with the tyre with the price I purchased, not sure what is the latest pricing tho.

Yes you guess right on the model.
Depends on your requirement, silent or wet gripping. For me I would prefer wet gripping, feel safe last year on frequent outstation to Cameron project trips and met thunderstorm.

*
Mind sharing this shop? I'm no tyre expert but looking to change tyres for my old Honda City 2006. Tyre specs 185/55R15. Other than XM2+ is there a comparable cheaper brand?

That is good buy, for I paid RM 235 each for 185/75R14 some 2 years back .
It surely can give you > 100,000 km usage basing on tyre manufacturers' specified Tyre Wear Indicator recommendation .

Edit:Oops, tyre size was 185/70R14 .

at shop during installation, add on alignment for RM25 and 4pcs rubber valve for RM20.
So total come up to RM167 per pc including service tax.

Slightly more expensive tho

Hi Need some advise.

I am looking around from xm2+ and a tyre shop is pushing end 2019 units... the reason is that because MCO/CMCO, not many buying tyre this year and he has excess stocks.

is okay to get a new tyre that is already 1 year old?

Guys... Just got XM2+ for less than a month and already got a screw in my tyre. I never had a puncture with my stock tyres (Silverstone that comes with a new perodua axia)

Is it pure bad luck or is softer tyres like XM2+ prone to punctures? All I know is the stock Silverstone is hard as fck, never got a puncture even though I drive through constructions sites near my office all the time, and with my XM2+ I got puncture just driving around a mature residential neighborhood since CMCO started can't go to work.

It was pure bad luck la....... any pneumatic tyres can get punctured, even lorry tyres. Heck even excavator tyre also I have seen got punctured.

If don't want puncture, use solid rubber tyres (which I doubt can find). Just live with it and no need to fret too much.

*
you mean 2% charge is credit card charge?

researching on Oscar now

do you recommend it?
how's the queue?

Ya. 2% charge if you use credit card. I think Oscar is still Ok unless you find another shop which sells even cheaper than Oscar.

Quite a lot of people so need to spare about 2~3hrs waiting time there.

Today I went to Oscar Tyre to get Michelin XM2 plus with size 195/50R16.

The price is RM250 each wheel with free balancing, while rubber valve and wheel alignment charge separately at RM5 / RM20 - total damage RM1040 for four wheels with no additional charge on credit card, such a great deal! rclxm9.gif

Glad I managed to save RM116 today, else if I go to my regular shop would need RM1156 for same package, other place offer the same with each tyres charge RM300++ .
Tyres are mixed between 2620 and 2920 tough, not a problem! wink.gif

Tyres are mixed between 2620 and 2920 tough, not a problem! wink.gif

Zero queue, I think probably it's long Christmas holiday and most people balik kampung already?
I arrived around 6PM on Saturday, went to counter to confirm my order, then their staff lead me to another tyre shop (MK Tyre Centre) to replace new tyre.
Spoke with their friendly staff and was told both MK Tyre Center and Oscar Tyre is same boss but different location ( ~ 600meters apart)

You can actually check with Lazada/Shopee/Mudah for pricing - around RM220 onward.
Alternatively you can do what I did - call them and ask for best price. wink.gif

last week went to Tyreplus shop changed my 4 donuts of tires from GYTM2 to Xm2+.
They said tire warranty for 6 years but with some tnc...
one of the tnc was MUST use Michelin tyre patch which cost RM 40 per patch. if found other patch not belong to Michelin patch during warranty claim, automatically warranty void.
Any idea of this TnC ?

Since last year end, a lot of price also went up due to raw material & logistic cost went up world wide.
You can only scout or ask around old tire shop for old stock if available.

That's quite a reasonable price. I had a quick look at my price table list and saw it was RM388. This is only available in Klang with free installation but thanks for the price info for JB !

I recently drove an Iriz shod with XM2+ and I am quite impressed at it's grip level, dry and wet.

Noise level is in the quiet category, quite surprisingly. The tire is less than 10,000km old so expect noise level to increase later.

Anyone had issues with it cracking / peeling like most old Michelin syndrome?

Same, this is normal for premium tires due to aging & the use of silica/composition and softer type rubber for comfort/safety purpose.

At 50k km this XM2 still has a very long way ahead, unless the alignment angles screw out big time.

Several pairs of mine lasted around 110-120k km with 2-2.5 mm residual tread depth.

Looking at current pair of XM2 at 95k km, history could easily repeat itself with no sweat.

XM2 is known to be a mileage warrior in the tire industry. Not surprise at all xm2 has so high mileage. Xm2+ should be in similar range

I have just replaced GY Excellence to XM2+, cost RM1140 including valves and balancing/alignment. Haven't tried long distance, too early to give an output. I had driven for about 3-4km and the differences compared to the old tires are noticeable in term of noise and comfortability.

Spec : 185/55R16

Hi guys I am using this tyre and the foreman said every 10k km needed to do balancing rotation and also alignment.

I can understand balancing and rotation but alignment also needed to do?

depends on how u drive. If you doesn't hit pothole or not often drive on uneven roads.. normally your alignment wont run far.. you can try to check your tyre for any uneven wear to tell if alignment is necessary.

Then from what I see, don't need to do alignment so frequently. Maybe once every 30k km?

like i said no rules defined.. ur driving style and road condition determine the frequency required.. myself i do it 20k sometime only minor adjustment required. Monitor your tyre wear from time to time at least that gives you the clue

Hi all,

Any1 have experience in current 185/60/15 Goodyear MaxGuard review?

Looking at switching new tyres soon. Looking at GY Maxguard vs XM2+ (1st priority going back to michelin after so many years, due to longer lasting & lifespan, and good grips overall)

Current setup using GY ATM2 , all good, but only one little drawback, the tyre flower tends to wear out faster and lesser KM's mileage. Overall no issues.lasted me 40k km + - .
Appreciate all inputs from current users for GY Maxguard. Not SUV type thumbup.gif notworthy.gif

after nett off all voucher, total RM621 for 4pcs
at shop during installation, add on alignment for RM25 and 4pcs rubber valve for RM20.
So total come up to RM167 per pc including service tax.

I have used a few sets of XM2 (previous version, not XM2 plus) and they all suffered cracks and peelings well before their tread was worn off. To me, the much touted good treadwear rating is useless if they crack easily.

I am into my second set of Goodyear. I didn't/am not experiencing any cracks.

XM2 plus getting more and more expensive. sad.gif
The last time I change four tyres for RM770 + alignment + balancing + rubber valve (it should be post covid lockdown @ 2020), now can get over RM300 plus for each tyre.
I doubt should I changed all four tyres for XM2+ or get other brand instead (not China brand).

Yeah... price increase too much.
Anyhow... I managed spoke with one of the tyre shop and they quote me RM246 per-donut, mean total amount need to pay RM984 for all four tyres.
This also include free wheel balancing + wheel alignment + rubber valve + installation, about 28% increased compare to last price RM770 in year 2020, this is the best deal I can get. smile.gif

XM2+ very quiet and grippy at the beginning but after sometime it will become very noisy or my GM2 NVH sucks !!!
*
My tyre is year 2021 and already reach 110k km. Can say this tyre is very long lasting. but, now at 110k km, tyre hardened already and very noisy. lol. if according to tread depth, I can go as long as 140k km as tread depth in middle is still deeper.

I always drive according to speedlimit, on highway, below 110kmh, on federal road, below 90kmh, b road, below 60kmh, At school area follow 30kmh. lol.

now feel want to change liao. as feel tyre not comfortable anymore. now in dilemma, between conti cc6 and vp4. will change into either one. good things about xm2 plus, is grip is still there. very good since day one. but I cannot tahan the tyre hard compund compare to my previous conti cc6. grip level xm2 plus is way way ahead cc6.

At 110kmh, no dry rot or cracking on sidewall or on tread depth. just peeling. but is very minor peeling.so I dont really scared. nothing to be scared of.

but tyre become very noisy already. and very harsh too 🤣🤣. my next maybe will opt for ventus 4 or cc7 or cr1.

For the purpose of record, this rear axle pair of XM2 tyres (made in year 2016ish) was replaced 7 months later in April 2023 at about 110K+ km mileage, not so much of rubber compound hardening or noise but because of getting a good offer of RM250 per XM2 185/70 R14 .

Current rear axle XM2 mileage hit 40K km todate with a residual tread depth of say, 4.5ish mm.

Note: Front pair of XM2 has hit 68K km since March 2022 with a residual tread depth of about 3-4 mm. Looking forward to go beyond 110K km usage without sweat.

Aiks... since my RE004 about getting bald and I was in hurry to replace it, looking for Turanza 6 but hardly available in most shop I went, have to order and get it next day.
Want to try Primacy 5 (upsize to 205/55R16) but the price at RM440 each (no budget), ended up changed back to XM2 plus (195/50R16) with RM320 each .
During 11/11 sales... all four XM2 plus was around RM900 (after voucher rebate), but need to make appointment with waiting time 2 weeks. :/

Free gift? --> Michelin Duffle Bag ... better than nothing biggrin.gif
