Hi all,

I bought my first gunpla yesterday. It's a HG of scale 1/144 and i thought of 'decorating' it but not to the level for displaying  . This model will be a 1-shot project as i'm not really into gun-pla-ing; but since i bought one why not make it look at least semi-decent.

I read thru the pinned thread and the corresponding tutorials for newbies, but thought it might be better to ask for confimation before i buy the required materials.

Basically i plan just to do lining and some painting to replace the stickers and also certain parts that come in 1 color (mostly the weaponry and some parts of the limbs .... maybe some slight paint to cover up the left-over nubs (if got) ).

So the items i'll need are : gundam markers, topcoat, primer(?), thinner for cleaning up. As for the paint i'm intending to use Acrylic type, and handpaint it. Process will be line-> paint -> assemble and finally topcoat?

Hope my question isn't weird, and fellow forumers out there can answer. Many thanks in advance. 

stick well as in? wat happen wif i dun prime? the paint will flow down on to the ground izit? can't find mr.surfacer here in west msia.......T_T

izit possible to spray without applying surfacer?

thanks for the input. I already have the required tools and ingredients except the paints, topcoat and primer. Went out to find them today but only managed to get the marker and surfacer ...

Other than Mr. Color series and Tamiya color, are there any kinda paints that can be used? I stumbled upon this Pelikan Plaka(?) today and the staff said that it can be used for gunpla painting as well. @_@ Also, which topcoat should i get? I don't really know the major difference between all 3 types other than they're ... glossy and non glossy. 

I think those surfacers... white and gray .... its for different tones of color rite ? Like if i apply white paint over gray primer, the white will look darker mah ?  So it all depends on toning ?  just asking. 

Hi guys.. Can i know that if the spray paint from Mr.hobby & tamiya spray paint can get along together.. what i mean is will the paint get screw up if i used both brand on 1 model.

How muc his those paint cost... from what i know is the Times Squre shop at 7th floor sell RM30 each for Mr.hobby spray while Tamiya underground sell RM25 for its spray paint...  is there anypalce i can get cheeper spray paint of the 2 brand mentioned..

Anyway can anyone tell me the location of Toycity petaling street.. are they still seling tamiya paints?

tats wat i have been saying i did not say it was meant to be on adges u already say tat it gives a darker tone to the colour,so if its on the edges the colour would be darker

2 layer of topcoat? why?

when applying top coat, do u guys detach the parts eg, head, arms n legs from the main body and spray them separately or just spray ?

when comes to spraying, seems tat everyone put the parts on a stick, sate stick for malaysians, izit ok just to put the part on the ground and spray?

bout the sate sticks, wat do u guys put on them to make the parts stick on them?

it's like the paint got scratch off when i'm assembling them 2gether. so can gundam marker ink stick on a topcoat surface?

How come after topcoat still can chip off wan? This is weird la. I'm not sure la, haven't use topcoat before.

nope, i havent top coat yet. this happened when i put the parts together, the paint got scratch.....means nippon pilox paint fall of from scratches.....and i tot nippon paints are weather proof @_@

wat i wanted to do is to add shading after spray then topcoat, but now hv to topcoat then shading then topcoat again.....

Added on March 19, 2008, 12:47 amnope, i didnt prime. can't find surfacer T_T the paint fall off from simple scratch...wat shud i do?
