you can make the SATA II hard disk to be compatible with your mobo by inserting a jumper ( refer to shopkeeper / owner manual )
this will limit your hard disk maximum speed (which will never reach ) from SATA II (300Mbit/s) to SATA I (150Mbit/s)
sounds like limit the speed to half but no worries because you can hardly to notice the different in normal usage .

karajan is just "pop-up" version of RealTek XXX series of soundcard .
the "pop-up" design claims to get less electronic noise from other components in mobo .

false statement , that 'DDR2' should be concerned by the graphic card architecture not mobo .

if compare SUPER PI here show 29.XX seconds while my E2140 can get 40 seconds

while 29sec is E2180 stock speed as you requested .
Opty 165 stock speed i guess over 40 seconds , which is
of course SUPERPI result is not everything , faster or slower still depend on usage .
modern CPUs shouldn't be much different in general purpose .

first , use CPU-Z from CPUID to verify both RAMs are installed properlly .
if both stick of RAMs are detected , i think you have to enable the PAE read more here

it's the one with Delta fan ( blue/black/red wire ) you can try use flat screwdriver to 'korek' it out
tried once and it won't break easily
