guys...anyone know how to disable the hibernate option in vista? my com always go unresponsive when i try to wake it during the hibernation..
*

1. Click Start (or the Windows Logo) -> All Programs -> Accessories.
2. In this folder you will see an entry labeled Command Prompt. Right-click this entry and select "Run as administrator."
3. At the command prompt, type "powercfg -h off" (without the quotes) and press Enter.

Unfortunately there's no confirmation message to indicate whether or not you were successful. But we can confirm this for ourselves by typing "dir /a:h c:\hiberfil.sys" (again, without the quotes) and pressing Enter. If we were successful then you should get a message which says "File Not Found."

Voila! We have just disabled Hibernation and freed up some disk space. But if you decide that you want to enable Hibernation later you can do so by following steps 1-3 again, but this time specify "on" instead of "off" during step 3.
Note: If you get a User Account Control dialog during any of the above steps you can simply click Continue.

i am thinking of upgrading the RAM of my PC..
i am using Abit KN8 mobo.. i can't seem to find the exact model number after scanning the whole mobo for so many times but managed to get something that look like a serial number (EEK003180)..
from the manual (which is combining KN8/KN8 Ultra) is say the maximum supported memory is 4GB.. and the current ram that i am using is a DDR400
my questions:
1. does this mean i can have memory up to 4GB max?
2. my mobo support DDR2?
thanks!
*

well , Abit KN8 already is the product name . socket 939 using a nForce4 chip .
1. yes , you can install 4GB of RAM , but OS dependent (many users report that WinXP 32bit only can allocate 3.XGB instead of full 4GB)
2. no , only DDR generation 1

wat does wen9x88 question has to do with crossfire pulak????
even crossfire also kenot support cards from different series la....
most of the time u post reasonably, but sometimes crap does spew from ya...ur answer this time is totally unrelated...although his question was crap also....

*

either he read wrongly or he meant last time X1000 series 2+1 concept. X1600 was being used for physics in conjunction with two X1900 XT video cards for graphics.

btw your little mistake, VGA analog out is 15pin, COM1 serial port is 9pin.

ok, i've got the same problem, connected my notebook with svideo out and to the video input at the front of the TV, but the video come out is just in black and white.
*

usually black & white on TV can be fixed by change "colour system" in TV menu setting, PAL or NTSC thing.
also check this in your lappy display setting for TV out.

Added on March 9, 2008, 7:02 pmwhat is the different between good motherboard and cheap motherboard?
this is what i found:
From what I know this chipset is 261% faster than current 690 chipset. And it support hybrid crossfire with 3400 range GC..
Here current benchmark on these chipset.
AMD ATHLONX2 5000+, 2GB DDR2-800 Corsair, Vista.
3DMARK05 @690G=1105, @RS780=2495
Vista Experience Index @690G=3.1, @RS780=3.5
FEAR DEMO @690=15FPS, @RS780=29FPS
3DMARK 06 @690G : score=321, SM2:147, HDR/SM3=0, CPU score = 1860
3DMARK 06 @RS780: Score=1162, SM2:380, HDR/SM3=441, CPU score 1869

*

you're looking at the wrong benchmark
all are graphic benchmark (except 3DM06 CPU score you can see only 9 point leading, lol wut?)
unless you gonna use the integrated display sweat.gif
ADD: look for SuperPI, PCMARK, WPrime... etc wink.gif

another super noob question, how does mx518 differ with razer krait ?
*

mx518 has moar buttons, medium weight, no LED.
krait is only 3 buttons, light weight, not-so-bright orange LED.
both are over 1000DPi ( mx518 has 1600 & 1800DPi version )

QUOTE(caspersky @ May 14 2008, 01:45 PM)
What do the memory clock, cache, FSB etc in a processor mean? For example, my acer 5920g has an Intel processor T7500, which states
2.2GHz, 800MHz, FSB, 4MB L2 cache
what do these figures mean?
*

memory clock = memory speed/frequency
cache = built inside processor, a small but very fast temporary storage for data/instructions to be processed.
FSB = front side bus, communication link between processor and northbridge.
northbridge = a chip built on main board to control other components (RAM, display card, etc...)
southbridge = another smaller chip built on mainboard to control I/O devices (HDD, keyboard, mice, USB, etc... )
2.2GHz is processor speed
800MHz should be the FSB
4MB L2 cache means it has 4 MegaByte of space for second level cache

i wanna know which processor would be faster??? i mean i though the higher the ghz the more powerful it is??
Intel Core Duo T2400 1.83ghz
Intel Core2Duo T5270 1.40ghz
*

we usually compare the GHz in same model/series because different model/series may use different method/technology so you cannot directly compare them with numbers.
now you're comparing Core first generation and Core 2nd generation doh.gif

QUOTE(Onion-KiD @ May 23 2008, 01:55 AM)
New here. i have a noob question
what is "FPS"? full name is?
another question is
ATI3650 and nvidia 8600GT which one is better choice?
my friend say choose 8600 but i found that 3650 core is higher then 8600.
whats the different about that? hmm.gif
thanks
*

Frame Per Seconds, means the numbers of motion graphic moves in your screen within a second.
in simple term, low FPS = very lag / high FPS = smooth gameplay.
a good 3D graphic card should hit at least 30FPS or above with medium/high details and resolution.
again, we usually compare the core speed in same model/series because different model/series may use different method/technology so you cannot directly compare them with numbers.
