Actually OnePlus 7 Pro is new lineup with 90Hz display technology + triple camera which definitely cost more...

The real value is OnePlus 7 which never push by OnePlus except for China market; you can order OnePlus 7 with 8+256GB at CNY2,999 in China next month. The CNY2,999 is new magic number for flagship smartphone in China, Mi9 also starts from CNY2,999 but with 6+128 configuration, so I can say OnePlus 7 is designated to be Mi9 killer...And with dual channel UFS3.0 256GB storage, I am interested to buy one but I don't think local distributor will bring in this model cause of no margin...Maybe need to look for parallel importer

He did mentioned that it's due to front facing camera activate while inside pocket/couch which can be the cause.
any link for Vivo Nex long term review? might worth take a look on how the pop-up mechanism and "dust".

watch this review, he said mkbhd battery usage not so accurate, qhd and 90hz expect sot like 6 hour mobile data only, that's quite good.

This should stop all the "HuR dUr OnEpLuS 7 BaD BaTtErY" and no IP rating nonsense. This phone is safe enough to use in wet environment just as much as the one with IP rating. even more impressive since this one has mechanical popup camera.

And if you really works in hardcore environment might as well get the Kyocera DuraForce 2 kind of phone. totally durable in special enviroment.

The dust won't do harm to internal components... Just like our desktop / laptop, TVs, Radios, monitors, etc... Dust penetrates in every openings...except for MacBook butterfly keyboard scenarios...

.... Sammy Galaxy Fold too...

It's just a heads-up to the design philosophy that needs improvement over time...

confused.gif i guess few dust particles won't really damage the part. Since bigger particle can't get in.
Anyway i found this

https://www.neowin.net/news/vivo-nex-pop-up...t-in-new-video/

Don't take this video as for reference, the author also claim their test is not accurate due to miscalculation on the auto pressing which does not let the camera fully close before popping up again.

Don't worry too much... There's one year warranty... The motorized cam will still work by then...wish OnePlus can extend the warranty of the motor to 3 years....

300,000 cycles right? Should be able to last 5 years even if you pop it out over 160 times a day laugh.gif

The 300,000 cycles test is done in less than 1 month (?) in which the materials are still considered strong... But after a few months (?), materials start to degrade due to heat, cold, weathering, etc. This is termed as "wear & tear" effect... The 300,000 cycles is not based on "wear and tear" effect over time...

Hence, our cars that have motors is having 3 years, 5 years or 7 years warranty... The same goes for air-cond compressors, folding gates, etc.

But since the motor for the cam is "securely" placed in a rigid casing, weathering effects will happen very extremely hyper slowly compared to exposed motors in our cars, air-cond compressors, folding gates, etc.

Attached Image

Let's just wait those early adopters to properly "test" the motorized camera over time... My hypothesis is that only when a major drop or impact on the corner (where the motor is placed) will give negative effect to the motorized cam... Extreme liquid & dust ingress as well... So, no need to worry about using the motorized cam for over 3 years...

I still prefer a notch or punched hole as opposed to a pop-up camera - as I said all along, the less moving parts, the better.

I'm quite satisfied with my 6t but I'm sure i gonna change to 7 pro or 7t at some point

still feel notch/hole is uncomplete smartphone, sooner later everyone gonna go full screen.
