This is a very negative move, and will fragment education further.....and I can foresee so much potential abuses of this system....

Together with the proposed increased matrik intake, this move shows the education minister has no idea what quality education means....he is just doing damage control by taking turns pleasing both sides of the political divide.....

his stupidity or dun border on the impact of the risk whatever step he has taken especially the matriculation issue which was not a smart move and can jeopardize on Malaysia University standard

Well since it is a Private Direct Intake this criteria can be fulfilled within the 3 to 4 year study period in IPTA la if they ain't strict.
If flexible enrollment center la

Well they can. But just to note: This programme is known as PUPW (Public University, Private Wing) where all UAs in Malaysia can adopt to ease the financial burden. Each university can come up with their own niche or method to run this programme, but the bottom line is, they cannot get intake lower than that is already set by MQA and the ministry.

Although it means those who have money but lower results can get into UA, but they still can't undermine the minimum requirement.

Also, in this programme, you pay more doesn't mean you get more (like in US/IPTS). You get the exact same facility, accommodation, education and experience as those who came in UPU. You just pay more to skip UPU laugh.gif

Personally I think Pre-U Results sometimes are BS, and are a bad indicator sometimes, as it covers too much syllabus criterion which is not applicable in most uni subjects. rclxub.gif
I personally score badly in my Pre-U but great in my SPM. But still managed to do well in Uni.
If this keeps up I think Foundation / ASASI from IPTA should opened up for more candidates willing to pay full price.

Personally I think if you want compare price with Midtier IPTS with IPTA. Facilities surely IPTA wins for Engineering side of things.
I see my friends studying Engineering CAD in IPTA got iMac to use shakehead.gif

Kek in regular midtier IPTS, old shitty Windows PC without graphics card that always crashes... sweat.gif

The entry requirements via this SATU channel are still the same with the entry requirements via UPU, isnt it?

The main difference is that those who go through this SATU channel will need to pay full tuition fees if admitted to the university.

The negative aspect of this scheme is that fewer places will be available for students applying via UPU since the university will need to "reserve" a certain number of places for applicants from this SATU channel so that it can earn additional income from the SATU channel applicants.

That's not the point.....the point is, you either get in with skin colour, or with money....what message are we giving out?....

The full fees places will NOT reduce the upu places.....it's "excess capacity" the uni has.....eg, it has full capacity for 200 students in the medical program, but in recent years, it has been ordered to reduce intake due to oversupply of doctors, to 150....so they have excess capacity of 50 to sell.....

Then it will defeat the purpose of trying to reduce the oversupply of doctors if the supposedly “excess capacity” of medical places in UM is to be filled up with full tuition fee students.

At least the minimum required for medicine is significantly higher than all the private degree mills out there.....

Interesting to see how Singapore will view this group.....exclude from recognition?

Hi there, yes, they do offer PTPTN, but you will receiving like RM 20k+/- like that for Engineering program.
Unless they change their policy to provide more.

Again will recommend apply front door, before moving to back door.

Would just like to share from informations I gathered. Those who applied through SATU will be separated from those who applied through UPU Channel. Your campus will be in Wisma Jaya wheareas the UPU students' campus will be in Jalan Profesor Diraja Ungku Aziz.

The PTPTN does not cover the whole tuition fees. They only gives RM6,650 annually. Meaning no full loan.

I took Foundation in IPTS. They said I cannot apply through UPU but I can apply through SATU .

I just asked them regarding the MARA loan (because I did some research on MARA website and they do provide loan for those who applied through SATU) . And I also asked them whether the certificate is accredited by the UM itself or not. More answer coming soon.

Thanks for sharing, but this seems new for segregation of UPU vs Satu Channel students.
As my friends and our few members here did mentioned that their programs are conducted the same as UPU students.

PTPTN doesn't cover the full amount is technically correct.
I would phrase it as, "how much UPU applicants get, you will also get the same amount".
Yes additional financial support is required if you can't pay the RM 60k to 90k required to study the courses.

But compared to current IPTS Pricing with the Facilities you get in exchange. I think UM still is the better option.

No comment on MARA part. But Certificate / Degree should be the same as UPU, no point they purposely open a new degree purposely vetted for SATU channel candidates.

Anyhow, you sure IPTS Foundation UPU not accepting this year? Or just that UM doesn't accept that?

But still try to attempt applying via UPU, who knows you might get a course.

Your welcome. I asked the staff myself whether there is a special class for those who apply through SATU or they will be studying with UPU students. They told me the classes WILL be separated (which I think is why there is a campus made only for SATU student) Kinda feel sad and disappointed cause we can't be in the same class with them.

What I meant by the Foundation is UM does not accept Foundation IPTS to their Bachelor programme (UPU) , but they do accept them through SATU channel. I registered UPU yesterday and went through the universities that accept Foundation IPTS, however there were only USM and also UPNM who accept Foundation IPTS. Even UiTM does not accept it. These two were the only one.

Yes , even if they put their entry requirement like 3.0 CGPA , you still face difficulties getting in. Cause many people got 4 flat or higher pointer. Getting into UM via UPU is not easy at all especially in those popular courses.

@hafizezmir , I talked to one of the staff just now. They told me you WILL be studying in UM campus in Kuala Lumpur. Classes and hostels WILL be in UM campus, because you are a UM student, she said.

Moreover about MARA, they said they are not certain because the programmes that is under UMCCed is not theirs but UM itself. UMCCed is only the channel from where candidates can apply for SATU.

They also mentioned that students who applied for SATU are also eligible to go for credit transfer to overseas uni just like UPU students. I hope this information is okay for you guys hehe (will be pursuing my degree in computer science there also)
