Question about the ILLEGEAR ONYX

If I opt for the 63Wh Battery Pack Upgrade listed in the build options, how long will my usable battery life (non-gaming) approximately be? I mean realistically, with normal office work and web browsing.
*
The windows battery estimation for 63Wh is 5.5 hours, the actual hours depend on your usage.

Windows estimate?* You mean the amount stated when you mouseover the battery icon in the systray? That thing's useless. The only way anyone can ever achieve that estimate is to make the screen darker than a TNB blackout while sitting in front of laptop doing nothing but a lululemon pose. So realistically with medium-light grunt work, I should expect half of that, so under 3 hours.

*Sorry, I don't use Windows much. Not a PC gamer either.
I'm here because looking for a gaming laptop for my nephew that can also be used for his college stuff.

Ordered it on 06/12/2019 but received it during 22/08/19, delivery was mas using GDEX for some reason and not DHL as intended.
Everything was in order, just the slight delay in receiving the items, still it was worthwhile.

Nice.
Is this Raven SE or SE-R? If it is SE, then is the screen sRGB = 100%?

Hi Illegear, I know that you guys are currently busy right now but it is kinda unacceptable how long the laptop is being processed. Answers that I always get is by next week, by next week, by next week. Rush service doesn't seems like a thing anymore. I rather to have a defined date of arrival rather than another "by next week". Last 2 weeks say last week. Last week say this week. Now end of the week already still got no follow up... Is it possible to get a refund if the laptop is not done so that I can quickly purchase other laptops in shop? It is in the assembly line for quite some time already. I can't keep going to cyber cafe just to use a computer...Please help out a guy here....

ILLEGEAR RAVEN SE FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Disclaimer: I am by no means an expert, if anything I am just an average user whose laptop needs centers around productivity tasks, photo-editing and some light gaming.

Build: The chassis is made from hard plastic and it has a light and sturdy feel to it. The finishing feels smooth but oddly that make it feel cheap, but this is just my view of it ( I came from a laptop with a metal palm rest). I believe some might like the feel of it. The keyboards feel clicky, but they are too close to my liking. The touchpad needs some getting used too. Its very smooth, and because of that movements either glide easily or feel jerky. So you’ll have to angle your fingertips to get accurate movements. Even so, I bet gamers would not be bothered by this since they would use a mouse instead. If I were to nitpick, the touchpad on my unit is slightly positioned to the right, hence leaving noticeable gap on the left. ( kinda bothers me, but of well)

Screen: I opted for the upgraded screen with 100% sRGB coverage. IMO this upgrade is totally worth it. The screen is vibrant and colours pop. I also asked Illegear to tune my screen for even better colour accuracy. All in all, screen is amazing. The thin bezels make it very immersive especially for gaming and videos.
Performance: My unit has an i5 + gtx1560+ 16 gb ram. Needless to say it handles anything I throw at it with ease. I have no complaints here. I think this is the best price to performance ratio you can get for a laptop with this specs in Malaysia. Photoshop and Lightroom work well too. I only play Dota 2, and from my experience , gaming was smooth, with no noticeable frame drops.

Battery: The lifespan of my unit is around 4 hours, which is decent. There is an option to upgrade to a bigger battery, which I might do in the future. Charging it to full capacity also feels fast, however I do not know exactly how fast .

That is all I have for now, if you have any questions feel free to ask, although I doubt a noob like me can help.

Ps. ADRIAN served me and I give two thumbs up to him. He answered my questions diligently and helped me proceed with a manual order. I was also very pleased that the assembly was done in a week, and delivery was fast too. I asked if I could get my unit by the 24Th and Adrian assured me it would happen. Exactly on the 24Th I got my unit. So kudos to Adrian and the Illegear team! 😊

I hope to write a future review after using this laptop for some time. So lets hope this machine has no issues and that the customer service unit continues their excellent work!
