First of all, i’m not a heavy gamer and i think that gtx 1660 ti should serve me well. Secondly is the price.

Hmm why not get 8GB RAM and upgrade to 16GB for dual chhanel? Can add SSHD and activate Windows with cheap key also
*
Sorry, I don't quite understand your question?
I got the 16GB single channel, as I have plans to get another 16GB stick. There is 2TB SSHD Firecuda in the system. I activated my Windows Pro with a key I bought for less than RM10 from Lazada; if that helps to explain.

Is the RAYA promotion going to be the best promo for the remainder of the year or there is going to be a better promo soon judging from previous years? Free 16GB DDR4 RAM - 1 X 16GB and 256GB Samsung NVMe SSD upgrade is hard to pass by for the ROGUE.

Place an order for illegear rogue today.

After seeing the real products for rogue and prodigy, the prodigy is very, very tempting! Solid build and elegant! It reminded me the msi prestige. If i don’t read the review from zm fong, i might straight go for prodigy.

The reason why I bought rogue over prodigy is because of the cooling system and themal issues that really bother me.

Anyone of you here already bought prodigy? Mind to share your review??? I really not sure have I made the right decision....

For me:

Prodigy is a beautiful women with sexy outlook but not sure how good is the “inner beauty”.

Rogue full of inner beauty although appearance so so only

Prodigy is still an OK buy if you don't always put heavy load on it - single load like CPU rendering is still good enough. Cooling design isn't the main issue - the cooling room is really limited due to the thinness. Majority gaming laptops with similar thinness will have thermal issue anyway, especially CPU side

I've been using my new Onyx for almost a week. Bought it during the Raya promo as well,

Here's my spec
i7-9750H
1 x 16G ram
2 x 512 M.2 SSD
RTX 2070 MaxQ
63 Wh battery

Here is my quick noob impressions after using it for 1 week

Display
very nice IPS display. (I do hope that it's more than FHD though)

Keyboard
takes abit of use to. I came from thinkpad, which has the best laptop keyboard. It's ok once you are use to it. IMHO, a 15" laptop should not have numpads. Which lead to my next point, the touch pad position is abit off, because it's centered to the whole laptop, it should align it to the bottom of the space bar. if you get what I mean. But it's a small issue, since I mostly disable the touchpad and use mouse.

Build Quality
Build quality is ok. There is still room for improvement. When I first pick it up, I notice alot of sharp edges around the metal casing. The brush metal is a fingerprint magnet. The charger adaptor is huge comparing to the thinkpad that I'm having now. But it's a small matter.

Performance
I bought mainly I want a machine that can do 4K video editing. This laptop does not disappoint icon_idea.gif. For gaming, I did try PUBG(it was free), with max out settings, it runs butter smooth. BUT the fan noise is loud, and the metal part above the keyboard is HOT; super hot when gaming.

speaker sound
it's not good. I tried installing the sound blaster app. but the app unable to detect my sound device. I contacted Illegear and will be bringing it to them and check. Meanwhile will be using headphones

Overall
I'm satisfied with my purchase. 1 thing which I do hope this laptop has is thunderbolt connection. Other than that I'm satisfied based on the laptop specs and the price I paid.

Ah someone comes from legendary Thinkpad series. Honestly , how's the keyboard on Onyx...would you still prefer thinkpad if you have to type something really long ?

Hello, mind to share your review on rogue other than this battery issue? I think is normal for low fps when you unplugged your charger, coz the system is trying to save power.

I having dilemma on rogue and prodigy.

Overall is quite good, the cooling system is pretty decent, however not sure if it is the game problem or so when I play watch dogs 2 the CPU temperature raise to around 90C, while others I might just get around 70+ (the fan sound is actually quieter than I expected, atleast for me).

I was having a tough choice between strix g and this, but at the end I picked up rogue because of the screen, now I have no regret because the screen is really nice.

The only downside for me right now is the battery life, it is pretty short tho, but I have already expected that, so keep in mind to bring the charger along.

For now I am very happy with this model, but for long term usage, will see about that.

Turn down the power limit with Throttlestop/XTU (eg 45W instead of the default 70W)

of coz thinkpad is better. nothing beats it biggrin.gif the keyboard on Onyx take some time to get used to. It's abit too cram to put numpad on a 14' chasis. But since I'll be plugging in a ext keyboard, it's fine for me.
