Paw Patrol's Mighty Movie!

Tsunami Tearnami Warning. This movie made A LOT of kids cry (at least that is what happened in our hall) - parents too!

Just like the first one, the film will focus on a particular pup's struggles.

There's good laughs, easy plot to follow (for the kids kan) and pretty vibrant animation - which brings it to an all-round good fam film, especially if your kid is a Paw Patrol fan!  :thumbsup:

Killers of the Flower Moon - I like this much more than Oppenheimer. Technically they're not the same genre, as Oscars bait movies concern KOTFM is the superior viewing experience and for sure DeNiro, Leonardo and Lily Gladstone locked for best acting nomination. Don't be alarmed by the screen time cause Scorsese's signature of immaculate editing makes the three and a half hours felt like a normal 2 hours movie. The plot always progressing with new info to suck you in. I was surprised by the amount of humour sprinkle throughout as Leonardo is playing a very effective useful idiot character. While DeNiro went full villain with plenty of charisma. Lily Gladstone has no problem going toe to toe with the 2 accomplished leads, she's the reason that kept you watching. The cameos also enjoyable to watch like Fraser, Plemons and Lithgow. Of course the indigenous Osage community that came alive on screen.

My favourite by far.

I dont watch movies much these days but it's Scorsese so why not?

Came off feeling a bit dissapointed but hungry for more historical movies. Anything to recommend?

I will go back and rewatch The Insider again..

Wow now I know Ridley Scott is actually older than Scorsese.

i actually hated Joker but will look forward to this!

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (2023)

If you need one sentence to sum it up, it's this: If you're a Taylor Swift fan, this is an unmissable performance.

Almost 3 hours long (also thanks to my cinema having issues with the video twice, each time they rewinded 5–10 minutes before the issue) with an astonishing count (my own count) of 35 songs.

The Eras Tour, if you haven't already known, encompasses her "major" songs from each album, including surprises from her self-titled album all the way from 2006, right up to Midnights.

The amount of effort that went into this Tour is mind-boggling. If you're a movie aficionado, you know the amount of work it takes to shoot a script, and live play is way more complicated with many moving and intricate pieces.

Now think high-octane music, set design, lights, performers, and interaction with the stage elements—all happening at breakneck speeds, one after the other.

I don't know if the real live tour has any "breaks" or intentional "pauses", but here the level of moving pieces (metaphorically & literally) sequentially is incredible.

I enjoyed "Reputation", "Red", "1989" and the super-sultry "Midnights" eras the most.

Cinema-wise, apart from the video issue I mentioned, the video clarity was impeccable & the audio was great, though still not in-person concert-level (Red Tour 2014, that will forever be etched in my memory).

But... this will be the closest some of us will get to being on her Eras tour, from the comfort of our local cinemas, unless you are flying to South America, Australia, Europe or even Singapore 

Overall, this is a very memorable experience and a must-watch for Swift fans, though if you enjoy concert films in general, this one is worth experiencing.

I'm glad I (or rather, we) got the chance to watch it on the big screen especially after the initial scare that it might never be here. I know for a fact that watching it later on streaming or video services will NOT do justice.

One of the best "cinema" experience for me this year, and definitely the best concert film I've seen in a cinema thus far. Memorable to the last bit.

oh i do like MI Fallout, i think the only MI i watched multiple times.

The last John Woo i watched is probably The Killer. Man i do crave for that era of HK crime action movies. Long time havent heard of him.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023)

So, DCUE has officially ended.

So did it end with a bang or whimper....

Kinda in the middle actually.

There is obviously notes from the higher up to James Wan during production, especially at the beginning of the movie.

Supposedly to reduce Amber Heard's screen time, replacing it instead with more Nicole Kidman scenes.

It was a little clunky....

James Wan recently made an appearance in Malaysia to promote this movie and had gone on the record saying he is ready to return to smaller budget movies, namely horror.

He probably had a tough time making this movie because of notes from the higher up.

Going back to the movie, how did it come across?

A little bit of a mixed bag...

Some parts  reminded me of John Carter.

Other parts believe it or not, a little of Bill and Ted Excellent Adventure.

For this movie to work, the chemistry between (believe it or not) Jason Momoa and Patrick Wilson (brothers)  had to sell.

The actors, just have a very different style of acting and personally I don't think they gelled....

This movie also introduced Atlantis Lost Kingdom...

So the continuity between the first and second is circumspect...

Like movie last few DCEU movies, this movie is reportedly having to reshoot alot of scenes because of notes from the top and that cause the ballooning cost of the movie.

Which is again concerning because that is a big factor of whether or not the movie makes money...

I am skeptical it will.

I will have to say, some action scenes in the movie are spectacles.

I just wish that DCEU highest earning movie, The Aquaman and this has a movie congruent story lines.

By accident I watched this at my parent's house, it's on those China-mali TV box. So not sure this is on Prime or Netflix yet. It's watchable and of course with any action movie nowadays, suspend your disbelief for the 3rd act. I like the mystery and keep guessing who is the real villain. Slick action scenes and a psycho hitman that you can't tell he is good or bad. Enjoyable la to me.

Give up HK cinema already, with all the censorship going on doubt they can do justice to nuance storytelling. On top of that, Felix Chong can be a wildly inconsistent film director.

what can i say. gritty, grounded, multi-faceted storyline from various angle, and some good old moral delivery punchline.

pretty good and gripping.
although there were some inconsistencies in the way they dish out punishment.
in some instances, villains are trigger happy to kill of some just to prove a point yet in other circumstances they showed great mercy.

but overall a very enjoyable flick.

Ini festive period boleh la catch up on some movies

The Beekeeper
If you are into Statham's earlier gigs as Mechanic/Transporter, this film has those vibes.
Good enough to while away the time, not much to shout about tho once you see the same action/moves repeated again and again just in different setting
And am pretty sure Jeremy Irons is in it just for a quick buck/easy paycheck 

Bursting Point
I have seen my fair share of HK triad-police spy action thrillers, this has to be one of the WORST.
No head, no tail - the plot just makes no sense (for me ).
Then there's the choreography of the fight scenes, so horribly done 

Palm Springs (2020)
Yeap, it's been out for quite a while - but managed to catch it.
Well, in short - TENET. But a funny/lighter rom-com version of it 
Very much like the video game, Deathloop 

Zack Snyder glory time is OVER.

I've watched the Rebel Moon 1 and Rebel Moon 2.
Cliche script, mediocre acting. Snoozefest.

I gave 3/10. Netflix said there will be Rebel Moon 3. I'm not going to waste my time watching the 3rd installment.

While Furiosa not out yet, not too keen on Fall Guy. Monkey Man turns out pretty OK. You can see shades of John Wick and surprise to see Dev Patel actually can do good action sequences. More of Gareth Evans hard hitting choreography instead of the over produced Hollywood variety. It's not gonna reinvent the wheel but excited to see if Patel can parlay to something bigger. Give it a try.
