I think there are multiple ways of doing this.

3rd party sellers of course only limited to their own online pre-order platform respectively. No question asked. Want reserve? Pay higher.

Official Sony store have their own allocation units for walk in, based on each location of the store. There's not much Sony stores though.

As for the official Sony online site, they also have their own allocation units for whole Malaysia. And this one is the real battle for most potential buyers.

Hopefully my theory is correct. LOL.
And for sure, the official online pre-order will be very ugly since the people from whole Malaysia need to compete with each other in order to grab one. And the current pandemic situation will make it even worse since most people prefer stay at home. So the "sold out in 30 sec" scenario is very possible.
