Kias have improved by leaps and bounds just within the last 5 years.

Personally in your situation since it is only a weekend car, I'd look for a 2nd hand MPV instead.

Probably a 2nd hand Estima would be my pick as it won't be used as often but when used comfort is a major requirement as is space. It does not appear outright dependability is a major concern since it is a weekend vehicle only.
*
2nd hand estima is also good option but since it is for long term used, I dont want hassle to replace wear n tear part. Also think that it will hard to sell that later (if need to sell). Realised that Malaysian market not really interested for higher cc car (above 2.0cc) due to expensive roadtax n bank also hard to give loan. Btw, will consider this if able to find good mint condition car.

I know not all car perfect. Just want to find best option for my hard earn money.

With 4 kids, i'm prefer 7 seater. Easy access. Maybe can fold 1rear seat for extra luggage if required. 5+2 does not fit me as kid will grow up and will be cramp on next 5 yrs. Actually if 8 seater, I'm more prefer manual version but wife not comfortable to drive manual..
*
U must know that to be comfortable. Last back seat normally will seat 2 persons instead of 3. It mean instead of 7 seaters, U actually buy 6 seaters mpv. With 4 kids (6 person include U & wife), U didnt have option to fold down 1rear seat. We need to fold down 1 seat if bring full passengers as it mean more luggages. U can only fold down 1rear seat for extra luggage if U buy 8 seaters type G innova. Type X is more on luxury instead of practical or comfort.

I'm surveying 7 seater car.. Mpv, suv for long term used. So its must comfort, reliable n easy to maintain..

My top 5 are new (recond) estima, outlander, carnival, Serena, Innova.

2.5cc recond alphard/velfire and cx-8 are best option but no plan to spending too much for the car...

Current top list is Toyota Innova 2.0X.

Spacious and the interior is far luxury than old innova.

It can comfortably seats 7 adults. 7 airbag, Captain seat. Individual aircon vent for all passengers. Better built quality compare similar tag price. Can feel better material and finishing.. I'm ok with ladder frame. Suitable for various road conditions and most important it's still give comfort. You may give a chance to test drive that..

I think its really value for money. Reliable car. Easy to maintain.. my problem with this model are perfect if got diesel or 2.4cc option in Malaysia n got cruise control 😪

Please share if you have different opinion or I might overlook other option?

Carnival, estima, Serena no need to fold rear seat due to better boot space. Btw, I think my family luggage able to fit Innova boot except during unexpected condition..

Agree with this but it seem InnovaX more value for money since it's new car with 5yrs warranty. For same amount maybe only able to get 2012/13 car.. 2009/2010 ard 100k.. which is almost 10yrs old. New 2016 FL very expensive which is better take cx8 or 2.5 velfire / alphard x spec.

Only Serena or innovax in my mind now due to value for money n reliability factor..

Estimate is good bet. The level is diff compare extra and innovative and Serena.
My friend want to take Serena after test drive estimate, straight goes buy estimata. Although is 7 years car, but the feel is different. You may check in Nissan elgrand.
Compare innovative and extra, comfort is innova, power s exora.
Innova is uncle driving way, so you need to get to it. You can make a fast turn or fast accelerate.

After reading few review n comment, I'm worried about Innova fuel consumption.. is it really worst or about similar to other 7 seater mpv similar size?

I was looking for a 7-seater as well to fit my family of 5 (including 3 Carseats) comfortably. Just to share, one of the options that I looked into (not in your list) is the Maxus G10 Exec.
Not sure on your view of this brand, but you might heard of LDV? It was then brought over by SAIC. You'll notice that the Massimo bread vans here and a few other commercial vehicles are from Maxus. So their presence in Malaysia is not new. Anyways, just for you to explore this MPV as well if you are interested, the Captain seats in the second rows are real premium captain seats, and its has quite a nice interior. The price is also a plus side as well thumbup.gif

For now, I'm waiting to test drive the 2019 Hyundai Santa-Fe (5+2 seater), heard its leaps and bounds above the previous generations.

if you are so worried about fuel consumption, few options.

1) go for diesel. that means KGC. or a used Starex. diesel works hard for big loads yet deliver best of fuel consumptions and torque.
2) Go for Serena, but fuel consumption only slightly better than Innova due to micro hybrid tech, GDi system and start stop system
3) Get a Perodua Aruz. I'm not kidding. makes logic sense if u want best SUV FC but 5+2 seater.

mind you that Innova chassis is quite heavy. here Malaysia gets the Petrol version because majority wants Petrol. Indonesia gets diesel option because they like diesel more than us.

just look at the records at fuelly. com for Innova petrol. the fc not far off from Exora Turbo.

I have driven the hybrid version. Power delivery pretty good. I have come to know about its steering rack issue though. Cheers

Maxus G10 I'm aware but I'm not really go check details this model. Agree with u the interior look premium. View it at mall not showroom.. Reason for not explore more due to no confidence about after sales n reliability. Same goes to haval brand. Good car but after sales no promising..

I'm more to 7 seater not 5+2.. however, maybe need to test drive Santa Fe later to satisfied myself. Thanks for sharing..
