Yikes...Is that true? Because I planned to get the unlocked 65D from Shopee and seems like all positive review. But it's not possible for unlocked unit become locked after firmware update right?
*
Since we paid full price it shouldn't, right? But... you never know. The one I bought from Lazada has Huawei Malaysia warranty.

If you bought unlocked unit from Shopee, it won't be locked even if you update the firmware.

I don't think it's legal here in the forum. Might get you a ticket to Bora-Bora.

as long it's not 22D variant. 65D if from pre webe broadband should be fine, I'm using one myself 65D and no v81 update.

Some sellers in shopee might sells as 65D but actually 22D with custom modded firmware, do double check with them first.

Thanks for the reply. If modding involves physically opening up the modem, then I'll leave it as it is.

Is it possble to PM me the link?

FYI, just beware and cautious when dealing in the FB group as there are quite a handful of scammers and dishonest sellers.

As per my earlier post, I'm already using the B618s-65d purchased from Lazada. I'm just looking for the latest official firmware.

Noted. So far, 65d unlocked without mod can't upgrade to firmware v81 😓

Ah, thank you for the confirmation. But again, unlocked 65D unable to update to latest official firmware? But... What's the point of selling unlock? Haha...

Anyway, the Shopee edition is sealed unlocked unit. Not sure if it's the same unit sold at Lazada.

some said even with modded v81 got signal drop than v11.. but i don't know if it's true or not..if you're looking to place some "mobile" only sim, then modding is only way to go. if not, just let it be on v11.

ONLY b618-65D since webe broadband time where you need to buy the modem last time is factory unlocked set which is kinda rare now lol. All of them on v11 firmware.

Current 65D only via TM Unifi Air which comes with v81 simlocked firmware. those got v11 firmware but from unifi air/unifi air trial will eventually get v81 pushed to them unless they disable firmware update or mod it first.

Yes it is most unfortunate. Earlier, I was also searching high and low for ways to upgrade my 65d firmware to v81 but with no luck.

I also cannot understand why unlock units aren't able to upgrade to the latest official firmware.

I believe they should be the same units sold between the two platforms.

Current I not suggest anyone whatever non lock 65d or 22d doing any update.
As both celcom and tm on going their shenanigans, can foresee future 65d get locked actually..... So disable the update, at least protect your own assets.

This is really crap, especially for those who bought unlocked unit. Well, I better disable my auto update just to play it safe.

Disable the critical update. I think there got 3 update related tick. All untick for safe.
Better safe then sorry.

Because one day tm change mind. Will be like celcom old 22d overnight locked.

Noted Bro. Thank you for the heads up. Will definitely play safe rather than be sorry later.

It's kinda unfair but I guess no use to rant. I don't mind Celcom contract but the sim lock is what makes me hesitated, although the speed here is faster than our old Streamyx. Because what if I want to change to Unifi or Maxis assuming they improve their coverage. It's like renting our own router and throw it away when change Telco. 150x24 is 3600.

I only have 3 choice:
B618+ Yoodo
B618+ Rent Maxis One Prime sub line
B618+ Unifi

Sadly Unifi signal is very bad here; Red to orange signal range at my place and orange to yellow signal at my workplace.

Wondering if B618+ Unifi + 4G signal lock is my best bet.
