I parallel park in this thread as am looking for a 2-channel dashcam to replace the mini 0906 which have been behaving erratically after the warranty period expired.
Considering the Viofo A129 or Thinkware X700 as they both have LCD screen which I consider as quite helpful when the missus is on the steering wheel.

I know iRoad is more popular in SG over Thinkware and Blackvue due to the cheaper price.
Over here, when comparing the price, say we take the so call top of the range WQHD/QHD models of these 2 makers, the iRoad TX9 is about RM1.6k whereas the Thinkware QX800 cost about RM2.4k, the difference is almost a grand.
But as you rightly mention, the Thinkware has better built quality, reliability and parking mode.

Can be used for backup card for the F800Pro as don’t know how long the Samsung card can tahan inside the dashcam

The only way to record in parking mode without hardwiring is by using battery pack.
Not sure if Viofo can support battery pack from Thinkware or Blackvue, but mind you the price of Thinkware battery park is more expensive than the A129 duo dashcam.

When I spoke to Sam of Sicurez during my Thinkware installation, he told me normally those who install battery pack are drivers that worry of their car warranty or those driving hybrid

I did consider this QX800 as I was also looking for a 2-channel dashcam with screen.
But as with other Thinkware dashcam with screen, they don't come with wifi so all the settings have to be done on the screen.

That's just the way with Thinkware, either you get the screen or you get the non-screen with wifi
Other dashcam with screens from other makers such as iRoad TX9, Viofo A129 all have wifi.

Good to know that they used to make dashcam with screen and wifi, albeit the X350 is only 1 channel and their mid-range price version.

I know for iRoad X9, the external wifi dongle comes together but the GPS antennae need to be purchased separately.
I like the uncluttered looks of the F800 Pro, F770 as the wifi and GPS are built-in.
Only the power and rear camera cables are exposed

Viofo A129 Duo fits your requirement nicely.
Can check with Sicurez at Sunway as they are the authorised distributor for Viofo.
If you don’t need touchscreen, can check their Thinkware F200 which they also carry

Depends on the car makers as for my CX-5, everytime I send my car to Bermaz Glenmarie for servicing (already done up to 40k servicing there), the SC will take photo of any modifications done that are visible.
Some of the CX-5 owners who don’t want to hardwire their dashcam but need the parking mode will spend extra on external battery pack, which easily cost Rm1k or more for Thinkware or Blackvue battery pack

Want to see how good is the video in capturing facial details.

I see, the jump in price from F800Pro is consider OK lah since the basic set is Rm2.3k, about Rm500 price hike.
Hopefully the new firmware will improve the video quality.

Even if order from overseas, the price of Thinkware card is crazy expensive.
Luckily the 128Gb Samsung Evo+ card at less than Rm100 can works in Thinkware without issue

Considering Sicurez sell the F800 Pro for RM1.8k (when I installed mine in May), inclusive of installation and local warranty, the savings from the PI sets are not that great.
With Q800 Pro already available, maybe the price of F800 Pro will drop further

The safety camera alert is quite useful too, especially on roads that we are not familiar with

For red light and speed cameras, better stick to Waze

Thinkware true parking modes have 3 options; which are time lapse, motion detection and impact detection.
The advantages of Thinkware parking mode over their Chinese competitors is that they have buffered mode, i.e. they will save the 10 seconds clip before the incident happened, whereas China-brand parking mode normally will only save from the moment the incident happened.
For me, if I want to save the car battery if I park on busy parking lot for quite some time, I'll switch from motion detection to impact detection.

If someone scratch your door using coin or key and they never walk in front or behind your car, I doubt any true parking mode will help you to determine the culprit unless you install side dashcam, which I believed is still not available commercially.

As for video quality, I'm afraid even my previous Mini 0906 has better video quality than my Thinkware F800Pro.
