Thz! What about blackvue, xiao yi or others?

Saw blackvue on Lazada for RM2XX

When removing and putting back you need to take note of the orientation so that the video angle is not affected - you don't want to be recording the top part of your windscreen, missing the important details.

You can also consider B1W which is easy to remove. Do take note that frequent disconnecting of the power source might affect the connector, although one can argue we plug in to charge our phones daily and it's still ok.

A dashcam works in the same way like an insurance.
Good to have when you needed it.

Many actually think it's just good to have, not a necessity. Or they are too lazy, or justify not installing by saying it'll attract thieves.
Now, its usage has been expanded to include capturing road bullies. With video, bullies can't get away easily.

My big-ass Yi cam in front is easily seen by drivers in front of me, so that might act as a deterrent against potential stunts by them.

Hi Dashcam sifus,

Currently doing some survey on some dashcams, my budget likely < RM350. Just want to install it on my ride [likely simple DIY on Myvi G3].

Came across some reviews of the 70Mai Pro and came to visit this thread as well to gather some info. Seems for budget, the recommendations are for Viofo and BlueskySea series.

Viofo looks quite big whilst the 70 Mai looks quite discreet. Any other recommendations?

Thanks guys.
*
Blueskysea afaik is much cheaper than Viofo. I'm using the B1W at rear windscreen. Would love to have Viofo (either 2 x single channel, or one dual-channel) but it's much more expensive than my present Yi cam + B1W combo.

Cool. Thanks for sharing.

You DIY the front + rear? thumbsup.gif
*
I DIY-ed for all my previous cars. For my current City, the tint shop fellas helped me run the wires because the car was just few days old and I didn't have time to do a proper job. In any case, mine is just plugged into the ciggie lighter (and it helps that my City has two accessory ports at the rear aircon vent). No parking mode for me.

11.11 sales is around the corner whistling.gif  whistling.gif  whistling.gif

Hopefully got sellers selling Viofo dashcams for a very low price like 7.7 sales...
*
How much were the Viofo variants offered for sale then?

Means need to plug to BATT fuse for constant power. Be careful as not sure how good is their cut off is. Might and up have a dead car battery.
*
I wouldn't trust this B1W to do the monitoring of voltage without additional safeguards like Power Magic or sthg like that. Even when I had my ancient Blackvue DR400 installed with Power Magic, I still had an on/off toggle switch installed to manually cut off the power when I had to leave the car unused for a few days.

I'm totally illiterate to install myself unless just direct usb to cigarette adapter.
My car just a jazz. Rm970+ does seems expensive but thinking if it can last 5 years then justified, since battery dash cam eg xiaomi 70mai rm200+ x2 front rear and if battery die after 2 years then become almost same rm900+. Not sure if my thinking correct.
*
If your Jazz is still under warranty, you may want to avoid hardwiring it to fuse box in case it voids warranty. And for your Jazz, self installation of rear cam may be an issue if you don't know how to run the wire (you don't want the wire to kena kepit when you open/close the hatch).

Life span of the cams depends on your driving pattern (long drive = more recording) and where you park your car (battery doesn't like heat).

For my rear cam, I'm using B1W (thanks to blurjoey for recommending it). It uses capacitor, so battery failure is avoided. The small form factor also doesn't block my view when using rear view mirror. My car is a City, so it's easy to wire the rear cam to take power from the ciggy ports for the rear passenger.

For front, I use Yi Dashcam. It's been more than two years and it's still surviving but my car is underutilised and it's parked in sheltered car park at work and home.

Honda SC.

No wires were cut. Only using the ciggie port with a QC charger only (1 port to charge my phone and the other to power a dashcam). Then 1 day the ciggie port stops functioning. Brought back to Honda SC to check and they said the QC charger spoilt the ciggie port and it's not under warranty.
*
Did you get it fixed? And mind sharing how much you had to pay?

After the 2nd unit, I don't have the issue anymore. Could be a batch issue? Or?

B4K dual dashcam in aliexpress.

Is the dual dashcam from blueskysea good? The B1W you recommended is still doing strong but there seems to be a little bluish tinge. Thinking of upgrading to 2-c setup.

currently using 70mai rear mirror D04 dashcam together with rear camera RC03 (double act as reverse camera, tapped to reverse light).

1. just noticed rear camera quality is not that sharp (although camera installed outside car at number plate area). was aware it is 720p only, but I guess you'll only appreciate/notice this when u review the video when incident happens.
2. rear camera video is mirrored/flipped when downloaded. it is normal view when viewed on the dashcam display, but when downloaded, it is flipped. no setting to adjust this  doh.gif

Rear Camera - incident at 0:14

You mounted the rear cam outside the car and yet there is still cabin audio recorded? confused.gif

The rear cam is not a standalone device, its cable is connected to the front dashcam. So we can assume the audio is shared for both recordings (front & rear).

Unless other sifus have better explanation I dunno.
*
It has to be. Just surprised the audio is also integrated into the rear

So pressing emergency button is working fine. Since you have hardwired, I believe you have the correct wiring and using parking mode.

You should do test switch off engine, then some hard tapping the camera body from side to trigger the '!'. Then check the RO folder.

If you not using parking mode, the camera should have remaining power to safe writing into memory for few second upon engine off. Any video recording is corrupted on the last file or not written into memory is due to capacitor or memory card issue.

Somehow Samsung pro endurance is no longer supported by viofo officially might be issue here or the camera capacitor.

*
I saw this in YT amgmoh reviews too. The list of approved cards doesn't have this Samsung card.

Strangely, Sicurez bundles this card in their viofo cams.

Dear all, for 2-channel cams, does each of the recordings of front and rear cams start and end at the same time for the files stored in sd card?

Let's say for this particular video clip, the start time of front camera is 2:45:00 pm, will the clip from the rear cam also starts at the same time?

Asking because I am currently running separate cams for front and back, so getting synchronised files is an added step. Thinking of upgrading to 2-ch for ease of video retrieval.

bought a 70mai A500s and very disappointed in it. apparently 70mai series all dont have the rear view function on app.

ddpai has it as long as its dual channel.

You mean you cannot access the footage or live view of the rear cam using the app? That's strange, or you mean PiP? Else how do you set up the rear cam position?

Btw, I just bought A510 and it can access the rear cam footage.

cant just remove or hide the obd cable before service/warranty claim? but i guess just sending to the charger port will always be safer.
honda's oem dashcam quality is horrible nor does it have 4g for remote monitoring so that just makes things harder
*
My personal opinion: the SC won't suka2 log a report saying your car has dashcam plugged into the obd port if you send for regular servicing.

Just like say you upgraded rims and you send it for service. Takkan SC logs every "mod" on your car if you're not claiming warranty kan?

Or you claim steering rack warranty, I don't think they will report you have the obd dashcam wiring.

Best to have an off the record chat with SA.

Can, once my 256GB sd card arrives. That day I tested using a slow sd card when the cam was delivered. No problem switching to rear cam. There is a radio button to select iirc.

Food for thought, if you're going with the cigarettes' lighter port the A510 may be a better option.
Both options require hardwiring for parking surveillance feature, however A500 can still record video when a collision is detected when parked as it uses a Lithium battery.
Supercapacitor in DDPAI are only used to transfer file to SD card once ignition is switched off, it cannot record during parking without a hardwiring kit.

All that hoo haa about supercapacitor being able to withstand higher temperature, I've heard of exactly zero cases of dashcam catching on fire and rarely any 70Mai
shutting down due to high temperature.

The HMC1450 battery cost 16 bucks a pop and its super easy to replace the one in A500/510, unlike the A800/810. Can you even find a replacement supercapacitor?
*
A510 cannot record in parking mode without hardwiring. Afaik none of the battery based cams can do so. The battery is just to keep the settings and save the last file after you switch off engine.

Hi - for those that is using a DDPAI Z60 dashcam with OBD Hardwire Kit for parking monitoring, is it normal to go into parking mode after 5 minutes (or more) when the engine is switched off?

My other car with a hardwire fuse connection takes just 10 seconds.
*
https://en.ddpai.com/service/faq

Doesn't seem right, unless the obd kit is supplying constant power to the cam. Read point no.1.

The cam is supposed to go to parking mode immediately once engine is switched off (point no.2).

Not sure whether the FAQ is model specific though.

If you're changing and you're going to use Parking mode, I suggest you top up a bit for A810 - clearer video, rear cam RC12 has HDR, and parking mode has motion detection feature (A510 doesn't have motion detection, a bummer).

Ayam thinking of putting the A510 at rear windscreen and use A810 in front (re-use the rear cam of A510).
