So motion detect is not same as collision detect? if that's the case then your right.

It wont record if someone drive / walk past the camera.
It will record + notify (w/ 4G) if got impact.

I think I try and see how this work when I get home from work tonite.
*
Not the same. Collision detection uses impact to determine a collision had happened. Someone walking pass your car and scratching your car may not generate enough impact for the cam to detect.

This is found in the user guide of A810, which is not available in A510.

CODE
AI Motion detection
When the vehicle engine turns off, dash cam is in standby mode. When the continuously running image algorithm detects any threatening person and decides that this person should be recorded, dash cam will record parking surveillance video.

yup, understood, but this sort of surveillance will run down the battery fast tho.  Or does the A810 has built in battery ?

No dashcam has big enough battery to tahan for parking mode, so it still uses car battery power.

I'm not sure whether time lapse mode is worse or motion detection. But I think motion detection should use less power as the cam doesn't save the video if it's not triggered by motion.

Imo, a parking mode macam handicapped if it cannot do motion detection, although one can argue the cam will be triggered by cars passing by, falling leaves or even insects crawling in front of the camera, giving you man6 false alarms.

For dashcam, many false alarm is better than one missed alarm. If collision happen you need to be sure that video exists. If got unneeded video not a big deal (as long as not fill the SD card).

Most of us won't check the dashcam until the collision happen, its not like the dashcam sending you notification for every detected collision right? Worst feeling is if car kena bang and then we check and dashcam missed it.

Collision detection is unlikely to give you many false alarms compared to motion detection (I wonder how smart the touted AI in A810 is when it comes to rooting out false alarms).
In fact, the weakness of collision detection is it cannot detect vandalism that doesn't trigger the g sensor. Someone scratching your car? Sorry, the cam won't record him.

Imo, unneeded videos means power wastage, which means the parking mode operating time will be cut short if the battery voltage drops faster than otherwise.

My DDPAI z40 bracket holder is broken. Most likely due to heat over the years (my car is park outdoor 24/7) and bumping due to uneven road I guess. So my unit can’t be attached to the holder anymore.

Anyone faced this issue before? How to fix it? Or what tape can be used? There is an option of buying the holder only but I try to avoid this if possible, as it might spoil my tinted when pulling out the old unit.

I've been using DC for > 10 years and hence have transferred many cameras to newly purchased cars.

If it's held by double sided tape, you can "saw" through it with a thread or fine string. The remaining tape on windscreen can be scraped away using finger nail.

Yes, it's held by double side tape. You mean you use a fine thread and sip it between the tape and the tint to saw it away?
*
Yup, thread or string will cut away the tape. Dental floss works too
Edit: don't forcefully pull out the mount. Saw until it is very loose (can easily peel off) or fully separated. Else you will damage the tint. Don't ask me how I know lol.
