A question: is the lens protector necessary?

To me yes. I am very rough guy, put my phone at table, floor, pocket, anywhere. It is always good to have better protection on camera. Once glass protector scratch, i can change new one. The only bad thing is it will collect a lot of dust around the edges.

I think it wouldnt hurt to have. But make sure its decent quality and doesny blur the images taken.

IMHO the biggest difference between them is the display. The camera is not so obvious unless pixel peep.
