Those are not rumors!!! Both Best Buy and Circuit City has confirm the PS3 price drop. The question is whether the US$100 drop is enough to save PS3 from the deep shit its in now!

I would be in a deeper $hit if I need to spend USD 1 billion to repair my consoles with serious hardware issues.

but for me i think the drop is justify, now the US sets cost almost the same as a HK or SG set

The price drop only start on 12 july 2007. Some stores are already selling at the new price though.

At US$599 or even US$499 the Ps3 is not going to sell a lot because that is a lot of money for a gaming console.

Well, I've said it before and I'll say it again and again. I've always looked at it this way - US$485 (HK unit; official retail HK$3,780 for 60GB) for a Blu-Ray player with HDMI 1.3 that also play games is not a bad deal. If you choose to look at it as a US$485 gaming console, and stack that against its competition as things stand right now, then you're gonna have a tough time justifying your outlay (at least at this point in time). You're basically investing in its future (read : potential) gaming prowess.

I only wish that Sony bundles the bluetooth remote. I seldom use my PS3 for games (Sony u suck at your gaming strategy at the mo, particularly the incoherent approach to developers and your online gaming implimentation) but it rocks the house as a BD player. So it's not surprising I actually have more BD movies than PS3 games.

Yunno why the Wii is selling so well right now? Its because of the price(just in case you don't know). It's not even half as powerful as the PS3 nor does it have HDMI or Wifi, and non of its game looks half as pretty as the PS3 games, but it sells. You guys might have a few extra $$$ but you don't have to talk cocky.
