Any one using it with the Logitech Slim Combo? Would like to check if you face issue of the keyboard not responding after closing the lid to lock the screen.

Hi all,
Would like to ask is it worth to get ipad air (2019) compare to ipad(2019) cos the price different is around 700. Beside the size, maybe camera. The main concern for me is the A10 chip going to be very fast outdated? or is it just fine? Purpose im getting is to watch movie, surfing, maybe some kids apps for it. Thanks for ur view |

QUOTE(jyane @ Nov 13 2019, 10:59 AM) Hi all, if buy for kid, get the basic iPad will be. cheaper and more suitable to be 'abused' by kids. Thanks for ur view if for own use, get the ipad Air/Pro. the thinner body and lighter weight, laminated display will make a big difference. for my ownself, i won't go for the basic ipad or ipad air. I will go with iPad Pro. the older ipad design and without face-id are the deal breakers for me. importantly, i am from appearance society, look is the ultimate deciding factor for me. Then basic iPad should suit u.Majority i think would be my kids using unless is night time maybe i will use it. Now with the new bigger display, it does look a bit better than before. QUOTE(jyane @ Nov 13 2019, 12:30 PM) The 2019 iPad (10.2) is still utilising last year's chip. If you really wanna future proof your purchase, you're better off getting the iPad Air (3rd Generation/2019).To be frank, for your usage case (mainly kids, movie, surfing) you could just go for last year's iPad. It's cheaper. Only significant differerence: - Slightly smaller - 9.7 vs 10.2 - Lesser ram - 2GB vs 3GB - Cheaper I was initially considering between the iPad Air 2019, iPad 2018 and iPad 2019. Eventually I got myself the iPad Pro 10.5 (2017) due to the Lazada sale. A few questions for you: 1) Budget? 2) How old are your kids? 3) Kids exhibit artistic tendencies? Would they be drawing on the tablet or purely to play games If it's really just meant to be for light usage, the basic iPad, or even last year's basic iPad would more than suffice. EDIT: The 1,899 deal for the iPad Pro as mentioned by bee88 I believe is no longer available. So don't keep your hopes up too high. Unless he can share where they still sell it at that price. On that note, if you can really get it at that price, you should definitely spring for it. The storage alone makes it worth it. The extra speaker (for movies) and nicer screen (movies and website browsing) makes for a good bonus. Extra ram is just icing on top of the cake. Really appreciated your view and infor. |

QUOTE(jyane @ Nov 13 2019, 01:49 PM) Thanks for clearing thing up. How much u got for an ipad pro 10.5(2017)? Unless you are already into Apple's ecosystems or simply love the iPads so much, but if you love movies ,cartoons and songs , go for the Samsung S5e. The S5e aspect ratio of 16:10 is also more suitable for movies and is incredibly light . Performance wise , less powerful than recent iPads but will get the job done .It is still reasonably price at around RM1.8k at Lazada with micro-SD cards expansion slot and LTE and has OLED colorful display and four good speakers but is slightly more expensive than normal iPads of 9.7 and 10.2. 1. 1.5k-2.5k is ok for me, just thinking which one is more worth. 2. 2 years+ 3. For now i think mostly on watching cartoon song. Really appreciated your view and infor. Or you go for iPad pros which is of course expensive but they are the ultimate tablet machines. The iPad pros are bery nice but should be overkill for your type of usage. |

QUOTE(jyane @ Nov 13 2019, 01:49 PM) Thanks for clearing thing up. How much u got for an ipad pro 10.5(2017)? I got mine for RM 1,899. iPad Pro 10.5 (2017), Wifi, 256GB. This was a random price drop last month I think.1. 1.5k-2.5k is ok for me, just thinking which one is more worth. 2. 2 years+ 3. For now i think mostly on watching cartoon song. Really appreciated your view and infor. If you're budget is that high, then the iPad Air is fine too. Although, I think it might be overkill for your usage. Do you own other Apple devices? If you do, and you can maximise your workflow (work on Mac/iPhone, then move on to iPad, or vice versa). If the iPad is purely a tablet to entertain yourself/your kids, I think going for anything higher than the basic iPad is...not worth it. I think the money would be better spent on getting a hardy case and screen protector (since it'll be mainly for your children at the age they discover they can throw stuff ) What I would do is get the 2018 iPad in a higher storage configuration, and spring for the data model. That way your kids will always have access to youtube/netflix or whatever platform you prefer. Another more portable option would be the iPad mini. Same thing though - higher storage and 4G model. Why more storage? They're likely gonna be downloading a lot of games...32GB would fill up quite fast. 4G (data) model so you can stream, anywhere, anytime, without having to tether to your phone. Downside to the mini? It's small. So not as satisfying to watch videos on a smaller screen. Upside to that is, it's small - easier for kiddy hands. Although they do have cases meant specifically for this. --- Having said all that, check out the prices first before committing. I'm basing my (best) price on my last research: All base model storage - iPad 2018, wifi- RM 1150 - iPad Air, 2019, wifi - RM 2,150 Side note, the 10.2 iPad is going for about 1.9k for the 128gb. So I guess that's your benchmark. Last I saw, the 2018 iPad, 32GB was going for about 1.2k on Lazada. Might wanna dig around and see what you can get. My personal advice? Wait on 12/12 for a high likelihood of a deal. If you're not too bothered about the price, go for either SenHeng or Harvey Norman since they usually have additional warranty. |

QUOTE(jyane @ Nov 13 2019, 12:30 PM) at least two more years of update you can expect. either you buy the ipad air that can last you for another 4 more years of update or you buy the ipad at cheaper price but upgrade a bit later. however, A10 chip is quite capable, it is possible for it to last a bit longer. |

Thank you for so much input. i dont consider mini as it too small. i guess i make up my mind then. Is either ipad(2018) or (2019). No point to go beyond that as im not a very hardcore user.If you're budget is that high, then the iPad Air is fine too. Although, I think it might be overkill for your usage.
