Because it's not available yet. I think he was referring to Apple Singapore website.

Many may say with the new iPhone XS Max the iPad mini maybe redundant. However, it is not the case. One can easily see that iPad mini the screen size, on number may look not Super big difference with the max one but the difference is quite significant in real.

This i totally agree. I have a XS MAX and an old Mini 2 at home. I find myself to pick up the Mini to watch YouTube and surf more frequent. And in fact Mini feel more comfortable when reading article online....maybe I am old already though sweat.gif

Yup, it is about 1.4” bigger diagonally, and so that’s significant but I can also understand the argument of not needing a Mini when you already have an XS Max. That’s why for those who need an iPad for media consumption I’d recommend the 2018 9.7” instead.

I personally think these 2 are very diff product and target very different set of people.
If you love the Mini form factor and it portability, you will not look at the Air.
If u suddenly found yourself wanting a larger screen and slightly more modern form factor (with that slightly smaller bezel), then get the iPad Air. icon_rolleyes.gif

By the way, Air could be better with the new IOS features of split screen, video on top your screen etc. It even better IF Apple ever redesign their iOS specifically for iPad...and call it pOS?

it is the aspect ratio that makes the difference. the aspect ratio of mini makes it more suitable for reading/watching despite that they are displaying the same content.

Agreed, but no, Apple won’t have a different OS design for iPads laugh.gif

I wouldn’t mind having macOS on iPads though, hahaha...

think i will wait till ipad mini available for buying in bolehland then i make the order.

it is about rm110 price difference as compare to buying in lion city.

besides, read review, the person who tested the new ipad mini 2019, saying that the touch id is faster than ipad mini 4.
i supposed ipad mini 4 is using gen 1 of touch id, while the new ipad mini 2019 features the gen 2 touch id instead.

yeah, unlikely that ipad will be using macOS any time soon.

apple has clear differentiation of their product line-up.

now we have low (ipad 2018), mid (ipad air 2019 and ipad mini 2019), high (ipad pro 11-inch and 12.9-inch) for their ipad line-up.
so ipad pro market will not be compromised by the lower ranges.

same apple will not make the ipad pro a compromise to their macbook line-up.

yes, there are actually many people love the form factor of ipad mini, this is the reason why apple did not kill it.
i am one of the all-time lover. i own ipad mini 1, 2 and 3 except 4. but i am going back to ipad mini 2019 (so called 5).

iOS now actually already have differentiation between ipad and iphone. there are specific ipad version of apps and there are exclusive features to ipad like split screen etc.
they do not need to create a separate iOS just becos of this.

waiting waiting patience....
and watching a number of review to burn time while waiting.

my thought is Apple were smart in releasing the 2 products before the event on 25th March. It nice surprise , even not evolutionary product- it still bring more praise than bash.

If indeed they use the event to launch- expectation could be too high and many gonna condemn and condemn.
