1. transportation is quite good compared too if ur staying outside
2. easy access to library
3. u can walk to lecture (if u stay in KG ABCD... E is quite far)
4. n much of the facilities like (CIMB Bank, Stadium, Pusat Rawatan Warga are all inside UMS)

the bad things are
hv curfew at 11.00pm
well, few choices of food

IP is like staying outside with rules
KF is just like renting a house but provided with UMS buses

erk, u can actually use the resit from atm as a replacement for the book? but need not worry too much...ums do hav a cimb bacnk inside the uni compound

I'm still in high school so I've got a (stupid)question.Do everyone went to UMS by choice or sent to study there?And what if I don't want to stay in a hostel?I happened to have relatives near UMS.

For those of you, who got selected for the next undertaking of the degree course. I congraluate all of you with full of heart. However, do check carefully whether you guys are located in UMS-KK(Kota Kinabalu) or UMS-KAL(Labuan) for your studies
I have tonnes of friends who didnt know they were actually studying in Labuan instead of KK.
For more information about Labuan campus, you guys can ask immediately if you guys have any doubts at all. I am willing to resolve any doubts you have with the best i can.

I may have chances to enter UMS.

sum of the ppl i know choose there while sum where sent there by the goverment...it all will depend on ur cgpa u get for ur stpm....as for ur 2nd question, yes u can choose not to stay in the hostel, but during ur 1st year 1st sem, its compulsory for u to stay at the hostel because the hostel fee will be included in ur fees and everything...u can choose not to stay cos they wouldnt noe either...after the 1st sem, u can apply to stay outside which is NR non resident from the ums website....by applying to stay outside, hostel fee would be excluded from ur overall fee...hope tis helps...

Perhaps not many are sent to UMS this time? or perhaps its just that they are unaware of this thread.

for your orientation, you can carry your laptop if you want =)
or don't bring your laptop until you return for the holidays , cuz you will have a 2 weeks holidays for Raya

hi, i got e-commerce in UMS-KAL..(T^T) a bit anxious coz of all the news of lack of water supply and electricity..what do you use for broadband over there? Celcom, digi and maxis has no coverage in labuan..

hey there. Congratulations for being selected to UMS-KAL, i guess. Regarding the lack of water and electricity supply. You are almost right but if you have any doubts or if you need a further elaboration on that, feel free to pm me any questions you have in mind.

About the internet access, the university do provide wireless on the ground floor of the hostel for both guys and girls. I strongly believe that most of the students there applied Streamyx or share it with their friends. There are students who use broadband and the two active ones would be Celcom(Was claimed for better stability but not most of the time, where students kept complaining about it) & Digi-(Cheaper Fees)

you're from SPKAL or SSIL?

i think streamyx would be the best compared to broadband... now they are having package specially for uni students which is very cheap. but, be prepared for slowdown in speed... the blackout is quite a regular case in UMSKAL but usually i won't last long. and regarding water problem, well... i'm not sure if you guys will still need to carry water up to your hostel but believe me, it's getting sooooo much better compared to 1 year ago. at least there is enough water supply, you don't have to queue... no rushing for water. now i kinda miss the time washing at the tangki with friends
