Monthly DCA still stuck at processing.. dunno whether the 'buy-in' time will be Friday (all time high) or today (probably gonna have quite a dip). Hoping to be today regardless.

Not too late.
When I registered I didn’t have a referral too. But i tried to PM a customer service and he was very kind to help me add in later on.
It was done within 3 days after account registration.

SAMY is typically slower than its SG counterpart. 2-3 days before it reflect in your account is very normal unfortunately.

Last 2 week the trend is bullish.... Should we stop dca during bullish trend?
*
If you think your money is better spent other places during this ETF bull-ish market and don't mind putting extra effort, you can consider value averaging (VCA) instead of dollar averaging (DCA). Both DCA/VCA approach is similar in the sense that you are confident the instrument you are buying WILL grow in the long run.

Personally I still opt to be consistently DCA into SAMY because I lazy tongue.gif

Hi dayamin,

SA is only a part of my investment and i setup so that i invest a fixed amount on monthly basis.

For other part of my investment usually I take the value investing approach, meaning I wait and observe until the price of the etf/stock/whatever falls until a certain value before i buy more. Otherwise the money will just roll in FD

Edit: it is also within my consideration to invest more in SA if the overall index falls until a certain range. But for now, DCA only for SA.

is stash away good for beginners for investing ?
*
Hi Shanks,

SA is designed so that busy people / new investors can just invest into it without any hassle, i.e. you just put money in and they do all the work. You can choose a few risk ratings that suit your style/appetite

Of course here I’m not comparing SA with the other two available roboadvisors, that’s a different issue but they work in similar ways.

Different people have different approach. Dumping all resources into one basket will earn the most normally, but of course comes with higher risk wink.gif

For roboadvice - stashaway only. Wanted to invest direct into ETF domiciled in ireland but did not have large amount of fund to compensate for the fees.  Now looking at FSMOne ETF regular saving plan , hopefully is true low cost for ikan bilis like me

FSM ETF only avail for SG and HK users. Just a heads up in case yours is MY account smile.gif

Since Feb 2019,

On paper ROI 11.+ % p.a.
XIRR 21.+ % p.a.

Impressive yields, but this year was a relatively bullish year. Next year might be the real test for SA smile.gif

DCA will be even more effective during bear market i think. can see your profit multiply once the market goes back to bull.
*
DCA is to hedge yourself against the volatility of the market (bear, bull, flat, etc), and also a way to ensure you are always in the market - following the principle that “time in market > timing the market”

Its a totally different approach vs. value investing, where one would try to identify whether or not an instrument is currently under/overvalued and only invest when its undervalued.

Obviously if you can ‘time’ the bearish market (which might or might not happen), dumping in a large lump sum will be better than DCA. But of course this comes with higher risk, and also we never know when bearish market will actually occur. Remember there is no limit to a bullish market duration smile.gif

Hi All, I am new to SA, just wondering if we are required to submit any tax documents. I have read in some previous posts that we have to submit form W-8BEN. Could someone please guide me on the process?
*
No need to submit any tax related docs unless you are not citizen.

If any they will only ask for identification verification ie NRIC

Haha.. Thanks. Not a believer of luck but definitely not foolish to do things uninformed.
*
There is no absolute right and wrong to both approaches.

The conservative and low risk method will be to DCA your 20k. Or another approach is to dump in the 20k when you think the market is 'low enough', which judging by current trend will not happen any soon.

My bad bro that I did not understand the whole question was about.
If only 1 portfolio should be no issue?
*
Only applicable if you have multiple portfolios under SA, eg 36% with 10%.

Normally in this case you try to pick portfolios with different underlying assets because thats how you mitigate risk to even lower level / get a balanced overall portfolio.

I wonder
If 36% is too high for u guys, why not lower the risk instead of opening multiple portfolio.

Mutilple portfolio if amount too small, you might missed out some of the dividend. And it's so messy too.

Just stick to one profile then invest in other investment vehicles.
*
Personally I only have 36% portfolio.

Having multiple portfolios maximizes your exposure to different underlying assets. Thats the reason why some have 2 or even more portfolios under the same instrument.

For SAMY, only 2 portfolio max is need to maximize exposure.

The problem with stashaway for me is that they don't allow you to choose which index/fund to invest in. Its actually better if we have the choice to choose because at different periods, some index will be better to invest in than others.
*
Haha. Thats the whole point of SA isn’t it? biggrin.gif to automate and help busy/lazy people that have no time to study which ETF to buy

Not sure whether FSM can give you the type of indexes that SA can give. Guess its time to investigate when I am ready
Thanks

I think you need to venture into DIY portfolios instead of SA sweat.gif
