Oh I see, so they will charge whatever the balance by end of the month? So assuming if you put in your money today and withdraw by 22 Jan. They will charge you RM xx / 12 / 31 x 20?

If you are planning to do this to save on the 0.8% p.a. fees, don’t. The forex exchange rates will kill your portfolio already.

Can tell more on how this works and how it can kill ur portfolio?

In short, every time you withdraw totally and re-enter SA (assuming same amount of cash), you will lose 0.1% to brokerage fees from your total funds.

For example, you plan to invest RM10000, so your brokerage will be RM10 (0.1% of fund invested). If you do this for 12 times a year, it will be RM120. And this is only the brokerage fee for converting RM to USD. I'm not sure if there is any charges for the other way around - I'll assume yes because this is how brokers earn their pay.

Management fee of 0.8% will only account to RM80.

Yes scheduled weekly IBG works.

My only problem is that the instructions to allocate amount towards each portfolio gets reset everytime after the money went through?

(Weekly RM150, 3 portfolios, RM 50 each).

So ended up have to set it weekly. hmm.gif

if for larger investment DIY will more worth it?eg : 100k above

Rather than how much you can put now, the question is how much can you put in consistently?

If you can fork out more than 5k a month comfortably, and occasionally even more than that, personally I think DIY is more worth it. Of course this also means you need to do more homework than us who just DCA without needing to do research or think too much.

QUOTE(Bilvinduet @ Jan 12 2020, 09:16 AM)
Are some of you trying to deliberately game the system to get a riskier profile? Why?
*
The crucial question during the questionnaire that determines your maximum risk profile seems to be:
1. Have you invested in ETF before? / Are you aware of what ETF is?
2. Do you have any loans / debts now?

So I have never invested in ETF before, but I have my fair share of investing in other instruments eg crypto, unit trusts, stocks etc., so I know what my risk appetite is and I don't want to be only given 20% as the max option.

Same goes to loan/debts. Just because I have a mortgage ongoing now doesn't mean I don't want to take higher risk for a greater return.

However, those that chose to 'game the system' must realize that SA/ETF will not always be bullish like 2019 and must be prepared to have unrealized losses when they choose 36% risk profile.

When you invest in SAMY, is MYR converted to USD directly to purchase ETF or MYR to SGD to USD as the HQ is in SG?
*
Converted directly.. makes no sense for them (and us) to be imposed double FX charge

Edit: out of curiosity i whatsapp-ed SA’s customer service. Their reply as follow:

Hi l4nc3k, MYR is converted into USD straight. This is why you will be charged a flat rate of 1% on top of the spot exchange rate.

Hi all, I m new to SA. Wanna ask something

What is the differences between performance in MYR n USD?

Myr -46.24
USD -3.25
*
Performance is based on USD. Difference in MYR because of currency exchange factor.
