Are some of you trying to deliberately game the system to get a riskier profile? Why?
The crucial question during the questionnaire that determines your maximum risk profile seems to be:
1. Have you invested in ETF before? / Are you aware of what ETF is?
2. Do you have any loans / debts now?
So I have never invested in ETF before, but I have my fair share of investing in other instruments eg crypto, unit trusts, stocks etc., so I know what my risk appetite is and I don't want to be only given 20% as the max option.
Same goes to loan/debts. Just because I have a mortgage ongoing now doesn't mean I don't want to take higher risk for a greater return.
However, those that chose to 'game the system' must realize that SA/ETF will not always be bullish like 2019 and must be prepared to have unrealized losses when they choose 36% risk profile.
