This SA after deposit cash , need a few days to confirm receipt? Because they don't use FPX (only Jompay and GIRO) I don't get a email confirmation or SMS confirmation of my deposit. It's a personal habit I must keep evidence of bank transfers done...
Touch n Go+ is instantaneous leh.

QUOTE(DragonReine @ Apr 13 2021, 04:16 PM) Whatever is the highest risk that SA recommended/unlocked to you after you've finished their account signup questions. If you want more specific, you can try explore their Goal Based Investing option in portfolio creation, to get a recommended SRI and more importantly how much you need to DCA monthly to get your goal. Note however that it depends on your risk appetite as well. SRI is not "how much profit this might get" but "how volatile this portfolio is". The xx% simply refers to the 1% chance yearly that the portfolio might dip below that xx% baseline. SAs strategy is to minimise risk, not maximise profit. Just share some thoughts, I might be wrong and would love advice and feedback. I think, while 1% chance makes losing 36% look unlikely... but 10% chance u might lose 30%? 30% chance you might lose 20%? 50% chance you might lose 15%? I think we need to understand our risks across the spectrum instead of just the maximum potential loss at 1% probability ...

Wanted to top up on Monday zzzz By the time your cash is converted into USD and then invested into SA funds... any current indicator is already stale news... you'd need to be able to predict a few days into the future... a skill which not many people possess, including me 😆

Sometimes I see a RM150 return on my RM10000 SA fund and I'm tempted to cash out and wait for the funds to drop before I top up again...
It just keeps zig zagging between a +150 to -150 range but after a few months it still never actually goes up steadily on average.
Now it's negative return again.

QUOTE(zstan @ Aug 6 2021, 03:28 PM) Nice! No fees this month thanks to BFM and Dr Jason How much did you save on fees? It's up to 0.8% + 0.2% right? So RM100 for every RM10k each year, or RM8.30 per month per 10k? By the way, forgot to share... Not even likely to break even on SA this year, but SA can happily take rm100 in fees from my RM10k to rub salt on the wound.. put in rm10k drop to 9.8k then SA take away another 1%, so I would be left with 9.7k. PS: just using rm10k for easy calculation. This post has been edited by gooroojee: Aug 6 2021, 09:18 PM

Don't think anyone's complaining or not understanding. The fact is SA needs to outperform EPF by quite a bit more than 1% as a reflection of true long term investment, due to the fees. If it only performs at EPF +1% the nett return is the same as EPF, then no point there, especially since the downside risk is there and quite frankly you may lose money, unlike EPF.
Also, even in a 5-10 year horizon, not many funds can perform at a 7% y-o-y average (assuming EPF is 6% average). Yes, there is the question of liquidity, but these days we can withdraw EPF for many things, first and second home, medical, education, etc.
Just thinking out loud, not expecting to convince anyone otherwise. I gave SA 3 years just to try it out. Will see.

QUOTE(honsiong @ Aug 8 2021, 02:05 PM) If it's under 25% you must be damn rich ady. EPF is about 20% of total paycheck every month. Many ppl spend kaw their income on housing, foods, utilities, communications, lazada. I wont be surprised if most < 35 have most wealth locked up in EPF and not even their house. Millennial and GenZ these days have one job and 5 side hustles 😄

It's a bit funny .. we pay fund managers to manage our funds for us so we don't need to spend the time they do...
But I see people buying funds like SA, then spend even more time than the fund managers looking at the details and then criticizing the fund managers when it's not the choices they would be making themselves...

QUOTE(zstan @ Oct 20 2021, 05:26 PM) krik krik krik.. when market goes up nobody creates dupe to attack SAMY? most of my portfolio in green now except for AGG -1.5% Better to benchmark against other funds, not benchmark against market indexes... going up when market up isn't even an achievement. Going red when other funds are green, now that's an achievement.

There are a lot of funds out there, and I put money into several at the same time as SA. As of now SA is very steadily and consistently the worst performing.
If other fund managers can make better returns, then it's like others have said, it's just continuously bad choices by SA FMs, particularly KWEB.
Only thing I'm mulling is whether to cut loss, or give it a longer time horizon and see if there's any turnaround story in the future.
