QUOTE(snoozet @ Jul 12 2019, 08:16 AM) That's what Stashaway is about isn't it?What gave you the impression that Stashaway is for short term investment? They have never advertise it as such. I see people complaining about this & that... What are you guys comparing it to really? Do you have other better alternatives? One that allows us to invest in US based funds with a reliable algorithm which we dont have to monitor & one would auto allocate our funds based on the market conditions without us having to deal with agents & all the other BS? As easy as Stashaway? |

QUOTE(snoozet @ Jul 12 2019, 10:32 AM) If Stashaway provides u alternative product(US ETF) which will not affected by fx, will you opt in? Or insist that USD is king? Why YES, of course I would want my long term assets to be in USD. Why would you want to keep all your assets in this banana money currency aka ringgit, which has been depreciating since the 80s? It doesn't make any sense to me.And that's really besides the point, the main thing here is, SA allows us to own a tiny piece of some of the biggest US companies like Microsoft, Apple, Google, Amazon, FB you name it (SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust), without all the hassle. For the first time in history, it's as easy as it gets, omg. Do you not see the value in that? |

QUOTE(Fledgeling @ Aug 6 2019, 08:51 AM) https://edition.cnn.com/2019/08/05/investin...oday/index.html What if it keeps plunging? I would just keep calm & keep DCA. Just made my monthly deposit yesterday. In view of the Dow Jones plunge yesterday, would it be a good time to dump in 1 lump sum (RM10k) today into Stashaway? |

QUOTE(rocketm @ Aug 7 2019, 06:13 PM) Hi, Yes, yes and yes for me.I am planning to open an account in StashAway. Since it is automatic buy and sell ETF based on the goal that we insert initially, may I know are you satisfy with their investment strategy? Are you actually earning? I do not have idea about ETF in USA, is it wise to deposit for this investment as it is automated? |

QUOTE(tehoice @ Aug 8 2019, 11:52 AM) many thanks guys, let me take a look later. True in theory but we humans are emotional creatures. I for one would be anxious if the numbers start dropping significantly over a period of time. I would rather take a lower risk so I could sleep better at night. It all depends on your risk appetite.I'm really figuring out. if time is on your side, won't you want to take as much risk as possible to maximise returns? as you have enough time for it to bounce, also given that the robo advisor will automatically switch the portfolio for you to minimise the losses, so i think it's okay to go with higher risk profiles. but i may set up different portfolio to see what's their performance for each different risk index portfolio, just to test it out. |

I have 2 portfolios. Risk level remains the same for both 18% & 36% after optimization.

QUOTE(calapia @ Sep 5 2019, 09:06 AM) hm.... guys... suddenly just now i noticed my yield is over 20%..... earlier was like 8-10%... anyone know wats going on at the market? I notice that as well... the yield % (weighted return) shown is a bit weird these days. The real actual value remains the same, while the return would show 40% sometimes. It'll get back to normal after a while. Also i unlock the max risk but i didn't go for it after looking at the portfolio which they will use for that risk level..... end up i m still playing safe for capital growth over long term basis... |

Daily might be a bit too much... but they should have kept the weekly option. If the transactions are small, couldn't they set a minimum limit or something that would make the economics work?

QUOTE(taiping... @ Sep 29 2019, 10:20 AM) The market's been down last week. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/201...se-markets-wrap This is a long game. I would suggest lowering your risk level if you can't handle short term loss. |

QUOTE(aerobowl @ Sep 29 2019, 10:39 AM) Still new with these sort investment, wonder say if sp500 drop alot or bearish, the portfolio will drop accordingly or is it possible that it short and earn instead? If your portfolio only consists of Equity then yes, it will mostly follow the market trend. I see SA as an investment tool that follows Bogleheads type of philosophy. It is for long term, this is not for people who want to in with a gambling mentality. We do not know what the value is going to be tomorrow, a week from now, or even a month from now. But based on basic investing principles & historical data, we can be pretty sure that it's going to make 60% to 80% return in 10 years time. |

QUOTE(-CoupeFanatic- @ Sep 29 2019, 03:20 PM) Just DCA and DCA and DCA, won't go far wrong from this. Yes agree. DCA consistently, slowly but surely. It's wise to diversify and not put all your money in the market. Focus on generating more income rather than spending all the time worrying about the market. With that said, I'm also afraid of a bubble, but shouldn't be really affecting your long term goals https://www.inc.com/jeff-haden/the-hedge-fu...ll-be-ugly.html |

QUOTE(Kar Weng @ Oct 4 2019, 06:12 PM) Genuine question here: It's calculated based on whatever value you set in your one time & monthly deposit. Just play around with it & you'll see the numbers changing.Does the projected net worth assume you're going to keep depositing money in regularly? Or is it showing you the growth of your current capital even without you pumping in fresh money at all later on? |
