May I know roughly how long it takes to open an Instarem account?

How about the interview? Normally what will they ask?

Set a date and place. Keep in mind I think they only service Klang Valley people. If you are not in Klang Valley, need to make appointments to go to their office for verification.

Pick one s&p500 fund domiciled in Ireland. No need to separate into different funds. All same only. Difference is expense ratio and currency.

I’m opening my instarem account today, yay.

Between captrader and Tradestation, which one are you guys using/prefer/easier to use? (Aside from the brokerage fee difference)

Both also straight away MYR > instarem > EUR ?

thanks guys

I'm using TradeStation Global. I get access to SGX as well over CapTrader with no access to SGX.

Experience should be the same if you're using Interactive Brokers's Trader Workstation, WebTrader or IBKR Mobile.

MYR -> SGD -> TSG convert to USD. Partly because I can get funds cleared into TSG from my local bank within 1 hour and the other part because I'm horny over LSE's higher trading volume.

Tradestation global. Cheaper. Experience wise, same only if you login using interactive broker. About EUR part best to ask alexkos

See roarus reply below.

Hey guys, new here and have a few questions relating to investing in ETFs. Hope you guys can share your insights. Thanks in advance.

1) Investing in accumulating ETFs mean the dividends are reinvested. This means we can avoid the 15% withholding tax altogether?

2) Will there be capital gains tax on disposal of the ETFs? Does investing in a Irish domiciled ETF listed on LSE versus say, German exchange make a difference from this perspective?

3) Since the underlying stocks are priced in USD, the only currency risk I am exposing myself would be USD/MYR, regardless of whatever currency the ETF is denominated in (e.g. GBP). Is this correct?

Would like to ask further on the currency exchange to USD for buying.

What is the method u guys used?
i saw this blog from other forum.
https://keykeytravels.blogspot.com/2019/07/...conversion.html

Are u guys following the method from this blog?
which as per the blog Step 2c,
to go into order ticket, search for USD.SGD., then convert accordingly.

or...using the apps where there is "convert currency".
Using the apps, Under Trade:
order ticket,
order wheel
portfolio
ibot
"convert currency".

Any advise on which way to go for?
which method is recommended?

user posted image

if the ask price is 1.37176
and i need 1,000.00 USD,
means i need 1,371.76 of SGD.. is that correct?

I only got charged commission USD1.91 for my previous 2 rounds of trades ~USD1.4k. I calculated back then it was roughly equal to GBP1.5.

I use Trader Workstartion (TWS), and converted via FXCONV (only available in TWS). Only difference is using IDEALPRO a virtual FX position is created and it bugs me because I'm OCD like that.

If it doesn't bug you then WebTrader/IBKR Mobile is fine to use.

Step by step for TWS:
