I can see iShares SP500 being called as IVV in my TD ameritrade account.

Is it the same thing, or this one will kena 30% withholding tax?
*
IVV fund domicile = australia = need to check whether australia and US got tax treaty or not

There's lots of ETF which track s&p500.
Only the ones listed on LSE domiciled in Ireland pay 15%. The rest pay 30%

Just notice that this SXR8 has very low volume traded.
Liquidity problem arises when u try to sell it
And Spread between sell and bid will reduce your profit.

currently around 240 euro.... bid ask personal experience can be as large as 0.2....

dun worry, this will track the SP500.... arbitrager and market maker will make sure it is priced competitively

ic....if want hoot SPY (nyse version), then use Just2Trade broker, you get some free trades (zero fee on your brokerage).

But, alex no recommend SPY, or any US domiciled SP500.

Reason? Trump will eat you 30% tax withholding on dividend. You rugi.

Join me SXR8. Eat 15% only
*
Noted thanks! Didn't know SPY pay dividends as well, but yeah US dividends kena 30% withholding tax

15% withholding meaning we lose 15% of it or just need to wait next fiscal year to claim back?
If can claim back is it automated by the service we use, or in this case captrader?

yes automated....SXR8 is 'accumulating' type, meaning that when it comes to dividend distribution, it will terus reinvest in the fund, and auto pay 15% dividend tax also....

No claiming back.
Think of it this way.
US company give 10 dollar dividend.
If you buy from US, HK, get ready to received only 7 dollar as US govt eat up 3 dollar.
Now if you buy from London, you get 8.50 as US govt only eat 1.50

Hi TF, I thInk all beginners would like to know this.. please do share your experience. Thanks

1. What's the recommended min cash before an individual follow this path? I believe this is not for people with small amount.

2. How many % out from the portfolio should be allocated for this?

Hi, is there an Ireland-domiciled ETF for total world market/international fund? And also US bond & international bond fund?

Am trying to build a three-fund portfolio.
