Hi any one else experience their baby 5 month old waking up almost every hour and can't go back to sleep unless rocked in the 'sarung'to sleep?
Is this sleep regression?

Used to wake to breastfeed and falls back to sleep. But recently, even after breast feed, baby doesnt fall asleep and will be active. Had to rock to sleep. How can we solve this problem?. Literally begging if anyone could help.
Will this regression get better as baby grows older? Having severe depression and lack of sleep. Your experiences and advice much appreciated.

at this age, the baby starts to see things clearly, maybe your baby tries to wake up and play.

Do you swaddle your baby? From my experience, i never rock my children to sleep. I swaddle them and they know its time to sleep. Open swaddle means time to wake / play. Have to establish a routine if you want your kids to sleep at specific times of the day / night

Wrapping works. Put your worn clothes next to baby
Check also got other problem, like not comfortable bed, too hot too cold too hungry diaper full.
Never rock or use sarung. Addiction that will kill you

But personally my son never experienced what so called sleep regression. There’s will be a phase where they wants to stay awake longer(its part of the development) but make sure they do that around daytime, and not overtired. Otherwise they won’t sleep at night and drives you crazy. But of course each baby has their own phases. If it’s sleep regression, then discipline, patience and sensitive to your baby’s need is the key.

Baby has past thw swaddle period and is now rolling over, so we stop swaddling now because if we swaddle her, she might not be able to breathe when rolled over.
I saw past threads people suggested the use of sarung hence we tried. Addiction was never in our minds previously. Trying wean her off sarung now.

Thanks for the chart, its like a table of what to expect. Much needed. Thanks.
Anyone here previously heard of sleep training for babies? Are they recommended? It involves letting child cry abit. Kinda hard for parents to take it.

I sleep trained my baby since NB. It takes discipline and faith. So many methods. I think the one that you talking about is CIO (Cry It Out). Oh well, I don’t see it would do any harm to try, it might works for you. But before you try CIO, better you prepare the schedule, baby bed/sleeping room, and the clothing well.

No 2 babies are alike.

Sleep training? Hmmmm may work on some babies but for the most part most theories are simply just that theories. There are theories out there that says it isn't good to let a baby cry so there you go.

Well it is 3:40am now and my baby refuses to sleep after a feed, she ain't too bothered what time it is as she doesn't have the concept of time. 10 more minutes of this and she will get strapped in to her seat and out we go for a drive.

Sarung or rocking to sleep. It becomes an addiction and good luck when your baby is 18 months and need to be rocked to sleep.

I wouldn't rock them to sleep because then they would always want it. What I do instead is I rock them just enough for them to get drowsy then I straight away put them down to bed and leave them alone so that they will learn to fall asleep by themselves.

Have you also tried using white noise? That can help them sleep too.

Sarong or rocking to sleep method, my mother use that since my elder sister till now my brother's kids, my son the same, its give u time to rest, sleep, do chores n etc...

once they r grown up, u can start to train them sleep on the bed.

IMHO we use it because we duwan to have depression or not enough of sleep, this will create more problems than bb addictions. Once bb sound asleep, we will transfer to the bed. my boy 25 months now

well its up to individual, my bil doesnt allowed this method at 1st, but surrender after a month, now his son r 17yo.

it happens everytime they have big leap in development or when they learn a new skill (like crawling etc)

mine happened at 2 weeks, 6 weeks, 18 weeks, (all about 2-3 days ) and 5.5 months ( this is when he needed more than just milk and his q to tell us its time to start solid )
