QUOTE(Candy12 @ Jul 18 2019, 02:37 PM) If you're living in high rise and using VDSL2, can consider buying your own modem instead of renewing an unfair 24 remaining months contract which is scam deal. Modem got cost so much that you need to pay thousands as early penalty? There is a D-Link modem that can replace the current TP-Link VR1200v model that comes with voip phone ports. Here it is: D-Link DSL-G2452DG Dual Band Wireless AC1200 VDSL2/ADSL+ Modem Router with FXS VOIP ports D-Link claims its compatible for both UniFi and Maxis Home Fibre I have tried a few TP-Link VDSL router, whole they work great, they do not support VOIP. May I know if the D-Link can support VOIP?

QUOTE(theonecafe @ Jul 18 2019, 09:29 PM) I think I will wait for its competitor to come out with their flagship tehn decide… If you want leading edge stuffs, better stick with ASUS or wait until the competitors are stable. Some brands messed up new tech, abandon the product and release an updated version. I would say only ASUS and Netgear have stable Wireless AX today. Other brands still trying to figure out the reliability and backwards compatibility part.

QUOTE(theonecafe @ Jul 19 2019, 01:48 AM) Another thibg is wifi 6 not finallized yet I think so ur using the asus 11000 how izit? Yup, it is not finalized but newer devices are supporting WiFi 6 lately. New laptops and the Galaxy S10 has it. Good stuff, stable and WiFi range and stability is the best in the class. Very similar connection quality to enterprise level APs. What you pay is what you get.

QUOTE(choonyink @ Jul 21 2019, 03:04 PM) Is it a better option to 1) get a non-unifi compatible router like Xiaomi Mi Pro Router (Mi R3P) and connect via Ethernet from existing unifi router to broadcast the wifi ? or 2) get a good unifi compatible router like Asus AC-RT68U and broadcast the wifi directly? Option 1 is definitely cheaper but is it worth to invest into such setup? Will the existing unifi router bottleneck the Mi Pro router even if it's connected using Cat6. Ethernet cable? Currently on Unifi 500mbps plan. Main concern is data throughput rate and consistency rather than wifi strength (single floor unit with 1 wall or door in between). The Xiaomi Mi Pro is not a great router or AP. Not to mention that the routing performance on the stock router is terrible. Having another router will introduce double NAT which causes some port forwarding issue. A direct router replacement is your best bet here. Consider the RT-AC86U which I would say it is 2x faster than RT-AC68U.

QUOTE(choonyink @ Jul 21 2019, 04:09 PM) Thanks for the tips! Not easy to find out the right solution with limited knowledge and there are tons of products in the market. Been looking at RT-AC86U in taobao with prices around RM500-550, very attractive pricing. It's cheaper for a reason. The Chinese version no longer come with Unifi profile so you need to manually key in the details. The WiFi signal is also much weaker than our local version due to China regulation on WiFi power.

QUOTE(taqu @ Jul 30 2019, 10:01 PM) Spec wise, not much difference. Firmware / support wise, I think A9 better. If you're adventurous, Tenda AC18 can use Merlin/Tomato firmware. If you plan to attach USB HDD, Tenda has much faster filesharing performance. I use Tenda AC18 as my home's ground floor AP. Great coverage for a single floor. Spec is the same but the WiFi performance of A9 is a lot better due to the better chipset used. Spec don't always tell the whole story on WiFi. That's why we have some cheap AC2600 router that perform terribly.

QUOTE(cHiLdHo0drEaMz @ Jul 31 2019, 12:41 PM) For Cat7/Cat6/ Ethernet Cable, Other than Ugreen, Any other brands you guys can advice ? If Ugreen, Can someone provide the link please ? Just get their CAT6 with the round cable, should be good enough for today needs. FYI, their so-called CAT6 cannot support 10G Ethernet due to poor shielding. CAT7 is just pure BS.

QUOTE(joeblow @ Jul 31 2019, 07:29 PM) Hi there, I am currently using Ugreen cat 7 cable and planning to order more today. Are you saying it is actually fake? Cat 6 sold as cat 7? If so I might as well buy cat 6 which is cheaper. On another topic, I am currently using Cat 7 from modem to router, over 20 meters. From router to ps4 Pro and laptop is either Cat 5e or Cat 6. I am on 100Mbps Unifi and my laptop speed test ping is around 7 to 9 (8 most of the time) and speed up to 100 to 110+ Mbps. However when I do a speed test on ps4 Pro, it goes up to 300Mbps plus despite I am only on 100Mbps. So my question is, is my wired connection only capable to go up 300 plus or is it Sony Ps4 Pro tests only up to 300 plus? Their cables are not crimped properly to be 10G capable. Not enough shielding and not grounded. Save your money can get their CAT6.

QUOTE(lolzcalvin @ Aug 6 2019, 12:17 PM) well i'd hope they can reset the BTU remotely...i don't really want technicians to come now since the last time i called them it took them 2 weeks to drop by and what more, they didn't fix the issue. I would say good luck. You are not the only one with this issue and I never seen anyone got their port speed changed to 1G remotely.

QUOTE(cHiLdHo0drEaMz @ Aug 6 2019, 04:11 PM) Guys, After going through few post before this, I'm still not decided which cable to go with ? Shall I get a Ugreen Cat6/7 or Dintek Cat6/7. Get DINTEK CAT6. They will arrive faster than UGreen and have better quality too. Don't buy flat cable as they are not as reliable as round cable.

QUOTE(wlting @ Aug 9 2019, 09:51 PM) router TPLink Archer A10 (AC2600) PC PCE Archer T6E (AC1300) UNIFI 500Mb I try connect my pc with cat6 cable and it can give me max 500/100, but when i try use WIFI archer T6E it only reach max 230/100 even connection 5G show me connection speed is 866Mb any idea what setting i still need to do to maximize my pc wifi internet speed? TQ T6E is not a high performance WiFi adapter even in my test. But maybe try using the latest driver and see if it helps. Consider the ASUS PCE-AC58BT if you still got budget. This model comes with the latest Intel wireless AC chipset.

QUOTE(chocobo7779 @ Aug 10 2019, 04:43 PM) If you can afford an AX router, might as just well get this instead: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33034513938...rchweb201603_53This is just the Intel AX200NGW that is placed inside a PCI-E x1 adapter Good stuff, I have the AX200 card as well. I don’t normally recommend this to normal users as they don’t come with any after sales support.

QUOTE(chocobo7779 @ Aug 10 2019, 07:14 PM) I wonder why no one is making AX WiFi USB adapters considering the fact that most modern boards already have USB 3.1 Gen2 (10Gb/s) ports USB WiFi adapters perform terribly IRL. Not to mention that USB 3.0 interferes with 2.4Ghz.
