Nowadays, the action is all over at Prai.  On the island, most computer shops have changed into either accessories shop or dealing more with notebooks like Fosa Marketing at Prangin Mall and eSquare at Prangin, Bukit Jambul Complex and Sg Dua.  Penang island is already saturated.  Therefore, PC hardware dealers are few in number.  Selection is limited and prices are far higher than those offered in Prai.

Over on the mainland, business is relatively good compared to BJC, Prangin Mall or 1-Stop.  Especially at Prai.  Three shops are hogging the limelight; PC Depot, SS Comp and Best Buys at Chai Leng Park.  Both PC Depot and SS Comp are located at Prai Jaya 3, quite close to each other.

Choices at these 3 shops are more than what you can find over on the island.  Each of them have a few hundred SKUs apiece.  And the icing on the cake is of course their more competitive pricing.  Especially at SS Comp; prices for harddisks, processors and ram are even cheaper than lowyat!

Micro Ram is operated by a USM Lecturer.
Usually the wife operates the shop.
Reliability wise should be no problem.
Price wise, depends on negotiation.
If you were to ask me which one, i would prefer Micro Ram over Yahoo.

I do not trust shops which do not even have the initiative to come up with their own logo+name and just ciplak other's logo.

btw i prefer indian bread more gadernia, especially toasted dip with half boil eggs.

Realised quite a few new members joining our spamming activity as well.
Hmm, i think we should have got an idea on what shops should be avoided and what shops are reliable after so many replies.

Penang's market size for High End products is small. What we get here are mostly the mainstream products by makers like TT, CM only. Heck we could not even find a shop which has instant stock for a Silverstone PSU here. When we try to find coolers, our search is automatically restricted to Cooler Master, Zalman and some cheapo brands. I could not even get myself a decent NB heatsink after searching around at almost all the shops i know.

We still need to really build up the market here in order to get some more decent stuff flowing in. With the penangite mindset of Want Cheap, Want Fresh and Want Big Boobs we will never be able to move beyond where we are now.
