Taking train is a hassle especially for first timer. Hence , here are the small tips for you:

For those who wondering about 24 hour, 48 hours, and 72 hours Tokyo Metro Subway pass. Yes, it is only covered Toei & Tokyo Subway. If you wondering what is Toei & Tokyo Subway, here is the example, please look for this two logo:



Hence, you can take the train with either one of these logo, you can see the logo easily via google map.

These are the area (Yes! Those colorful 13 types of lines) that covered by the pass:



Technically, this pass covers many popular area in Tokyo except:

1) Odaiba (where you need to take yurikamome line from Shimbashi station)
2) Kichijoji (need take JR or Keio Inokashira line from Shibuya)
3) Jiyugaoka (Tokyu Toyoko line from Shibuya)
4) Tokyo Disneyland (JR keiyo line from tokyo station to Maihama station)
Note: If you are cheapskate, you can save 60 yen if transfer from Shin Kiba station but for me time are more important during travel so I wouldn't do that haha!

for this i think is better you check where you wanna go within that day with google map and see the route.

for my case, i also thought that subway pass is a waste, but after i re-check my entire itinerary again, apparently i'll use more than 500yen a day for transportation (which better to purchase 3-day subway pass for 1500yen for 3 days)

I'm going to Osaka in mid July for concert and this is my first time travelling to Osaka alone. I have some questions as below with my itinerary

11th - arrival 6am, free and easy
12th - free and easy
13th & 14th - concert day
15th - back to malaysia

1) is there any recommended stay near Osakajo hall? I heard airbnb is prohibited in Japan?
2) aware there are lots subway pass but since my stay is short, is it good for me to get the pass to move around in Osaka? I'm planning to visit Kyoto since it is near and short travel time.
3) any website or apps recommendation for train map? It is much more complicated compared to korea imo
4) is language barrier will make my trip difficult? example asking for directions etc

Hello dear forumers, I am currently planning a 9D8N trip from Christmas Eve until New Year end of this year. I wanted to seek opinion if the itinerary is viable.

** If I buy whole Japan Rail Pass, for the places I am going to, can it be used? Or I will have to buy other metro line's ticket as well?
** Is a samurai WIFI egg enough for 4 person throughout the trip and Japan?
**Is the flow of the trip ok? Anywhere seems too packed/ impossible?
**For accomodation, is it wise to just stay at one place and use the metro to get around? Tokyo (2 Nights) Osaka (4 nights) and Hokkaido (2 nights)

I have the same thoughts too last time, tried to cover Tokyo and also Kansai area in one trip but realised its too rushing. Now in the midst of arranging my itinerary in Osaka (5 nights) and Kyoto (7 nights).

Agree with the touch n go, some places might really take time to explore like dotonburi, shinsaibashi and shinsekai. In kyoto, I would really like to take my time to wander the streets of Gion; Hanamokoji Dori, Ninenzaka & Sanenzaka, Gion Shirakawa and the nearby Yasaka Shrine. Kiyomizudera is nearby too but I read its still under construction so I might give this a miss..

Ohh not to mention the beautiful Pontocho Alley!

Shin-Osaka to Kyoto (15mins) by Shinkasen, what do you think I take the unreserved seat or reserved is better (2k yen extrac)? is On Sunday morning around 10am, will it there be crowded?

I actually book the flight ticket alrdy then only realise this.. so i wonder is there anyone here been to japan on this timing as well?

Osaka anyday also crowded with chinese tourist d bcox is most nearest city to china. They mostly at namba area due to sapu cosmetics & drugs. I been to tokyo & sapporo in October before. Yes chinese crowd is a lot but still ok la... Not like those zerg rush crowd. If i not mistaken, October is low peak period in japan so hotel tend to be cheaper compare with other months.

Yeah, it's just 20-30 minutes away, they are in the same region. Some people stay in Osaka to explore Kyoto even.

I paid RM22 only, Kyoto - Osaka. 3 stops, 30 minutes.

I agree it's better to stay in Kyoto to explore Kyoto, just sharing that some people commute from Osaka to explore Kyoto to give reader more option.

Hi friends, I will be going to Osaka -> Kyoto -> Tokyo this coming mid November for 17 days. I have been doing some homework over the internet reading reviews and etc but could not decide where to best stay in Osaka and Kyoto. Do you mind to help me recommend some hotels or area to focus on? I read "Minami" in Osaka is a good place to stay due its proximity to Dotonbori and other shopping/nightlife scenes. I am also planning to visit Nara while I am in Osaka but I have some doubts as I'm not too sure if these areas suggested are convenient for me to travel to Nara via Train/Mrt.

Not forgetting, I will be bringing my family with me, a total of 4 of us, all adults.

Tentative
Osaka (5 days 4 nights) 1 night will be wasted as I will reaching at around 9.20pm.
Kyoto (3 days 2 nights)
Tokyo (9 days 8 nights) Plan to travel to either Hakone or Chureito Temple for a day. Which is better?

The last Airbnb I stayed at Kawaguchiko last Nov did not require us to produce our passports during check-in. Not sure if it has changed this year or not.

Looking at your arrival time, it must be AA arriving at Haneda at 10:30 pm. My same flight last 2 weeks ago touched down at around 10:15pm. By the time we collected our luggage and pass immigration, it was already 10:50 (considered quite fast compared to my previous time). You have limited time to go to the Bus Counter right in front of the arrival area, buy your limousine bus tickets, drag your luggage down to 1F (arrival is on 2F) through the lift and wait for the last limousine bus to the city which departs at 11:20. If you don't want to rent a hotel for the night, you could ride down to Shinjuku and pay to use one of the manga cafes there to spend the night. I have never tried this before, but if anyone who tried before could enlighten you here. Or you could even rent capsule hotels which are much cheaper than regular hotels.

Guys, i can't find any other thread about this so i'm just gonna ask here.

i'm trying to rent a portable wifi for my Japan trip (via Klook) so the rental day will count by Departure day until Arrival day.
The thing is that my departure time is on 11 Sep 12:30am, so which mean i can only pick up the device on 11 Sep 12:00am or i can actually pick up a few hours before .e.g 10 Sep 11:00pm?

just worry i might not able to make it to the Gate if i only picking up my device on 12:00am
