QUOTE(zeronova @ Jul 29 2019, 03:52 PM)
Hey everyone, I am going to Osaka in October. Still quite conflicted on which train to take from Kansai Airport (KIX) to Osaka.

There are 2 main choices now:
1) ICOCA/Haruka package costing = 4600yen round trip (inclusive of 2000yen ICOCA purchase)
2) Nankai Airport Express costing =  3840 yen = 1840 round trip (920 one way) + 2000yen ICOCA

Is there any reason to use ICOCA/Haruka package when Nankai Airport Express costs less? I am planning to use ICOCA to travel around Osaka (and USJ), Kyoto and Nara only.

Also, is RM 3,000 for expense enough in Osaka? Exclude accommodation and USJ ticket since they are already paid for before the trip.
*
check the train schedule as well
if you're using airasia, i'm pretty sure haruka is out of your option
the last train is like 10.30PM

hey guys.

will be going to japan next week. so want to ask which pocket wifi company is the cheapest/best to use? will be picking it up at klia.

thanks!
*
2 more reputable ones are travelrecommend and wiyo
travelrecommend now have promo of free 2 days
wiyo is generally cheaper per day

i choose wiyo because my airbnb provides pocket wifi

For those who took AA to KIX before, do you manage to catch the train to town after arriving airport at 950?

Or do you opt to stay near airport that night. Any recommendation?
*

Question..  if we go tokyo.. normally we can spend a few days visiting cities like shibuya ginza shinjuku harakuju asukasa etc.. hence staying in 1 place and just take the train will do

But how does it work in osaka? Kyoto seems a little far in comparison. You get what i mean?
*
????
each city has their own train system to travel around..including osaka
for tokyo to kyoto/osaka..that would require shinkansen

Yes this is what i mean.. mean i can stay in osaka the entire trip..
*
can
provided your stay at osaka(so cheap) can compensate the 550yen/way train ride
and you're willing to wake up early and take the 1 hour ride to osaka and 1 hour back everyday

Thanks. Gonna stay near dotonbori..
*
do your route research 1st
be aware there is no direct route from dotobori(namba) to kyoto station
u need to transfer once to shin-osaka station before going to kyoto station(based on google maps)

Anyone did a big group say 20 ppl to Tokyo before here? Travelling locally wouldn't be an issue but how do you manage accommodation together?
*
don't think u can
those who went to japan before knows how small a house is in japan and getting smaller
u can only find like 3-4 houses that are very near to each other..that's all u can do
or spend more on hotels, thn u would all technically be at the same place....just different room

Can we book airbnb in Japan? I thought airbnb blacklisted in Japan?
*
not blacklisted, just need license from the government only
look at the listings in airbnb and only book ones with license number

What will happen if I book airbnb with no license? Got deported?
*
no lah
just that if u book one with no license, there will be a chance of cancellation last minute which no one wants
because rebooking last minute is very expensive

sorry I am noob never go Japan before. dunno where to start. their transportation system look like very complicated.
*
yes, it is true that tokyo's transportation system is complicated
even with the help of hyperdia, there is still a big chance of getting lost
so do your route homework very well

Thanks for the info. I was hoping can find some in Family Marts / Lawson  biggrin.gif  I guess will be much easier buying them at the airport then.

Anyway how confusing is the Tokyo Metro system actually? I've been to some cities with extensive metro lines in Europe but from what I've read, nothing compares to how complicated the railway system in Tokyo is.  bangwall.gif
*
when i was in tokyo, i can't find shiroi koibito anywhere, had to get it at the airport

and yes, it's very confusing
there are so many platforms and each platform can be used by different train going to different places
so your best bet is using hyperdia, it will tell u to go to which platform and what time is the train
do not board a train that came a little early because it's probably not your train because like i said, different train going different places are using the same platform
unlike train here that 1 platform is going to the same exact place everytime

Anyone can share on how to save on Universal Studios Japan tickets (normal +express)? They're damn expensive via klook/voyagin/etc
*
are your trip recent and the dates already release?
try look for someone who is selling buy 1 free 1 universal studio voucher(they got it from klook's bday like 1 month ago)
the voucher expires 31st august 2019(means need to claim by this date)

i bought the voucher and bought buy 1 free 1 USJ tix...save me alot of money

express pass though, that 1 i don't think so..it's more expensive than the ticket itself laugh.gif
