opps...I just bought a pack of ichiran back...have yet to try...lol
*
u bought a pack or a box?
it's very expensive when i saw the price
i don't know people are eating instant noodle or gold noodle laugh.gif

fresh ichiran isn't even good at all

and u need to monitor the expiry dates, japanese instant noodle(at least ramen) do not last a year like ours laugh.gif
they expire in like 3-4 months

QUOTE(jenli_84 @ Nov 1 2019, 10:44 AM)
guys nvr bring any food in ur bag to USJ...a bottle of drink will be fine. But definitely no food allowed. your bag will be check before you enter.
*

I bought a pack (5 portions inside) yeah ain't cheap 1852 yen (tax free) if wit tax will be 2000 yen

Just try since having a bowl of ichiran already 980yen (basic bowl no add on)
*
the one that i posted is only 2XX yen per packet which consist of 2 portion
cannot tax refund because it's sold in normal local supermarket...donki don't carry so much flavour

QUOTE(fruitie @ Nov 1 2019, 10:55 AM)
Will they check jacket? I will be wearing my jacket and plan to sneak in bun or onigiri if possible, of course I will have breakfast before I leave but just in case. blush.gif
*
just bring like 1 snack is enough
there are so many things to eat in USJ
but just eat the must eat thing, should be able to fill u up till night already
visit harry potter and have butter beer(hot & cold) thn find another stall and eat the butter beer ice-cream
go to jurassic park and eat the turkey legs
these 2 alone can last until night if u timed it right
and do not go for the turkey leg at 12noon-1PM, it will have a very long queue...go after that
basically u go play when people eat, thn go eat when people go play laugh.gif

USJ and Disneyland just famous for the branding name only.

If you really wanted the ''REAL'' Theme park experience, must go Fuji Q highland.
That the real thing  biggrin.gif
*
my heart cannot take fuji Q's ride
i'm good with disneysea and USJ
disneysea was epic when i go 2.5 years ago during their 50th anniversary(if i remember correctly) and christmas period
so many extra shows

Just to confirm, I already have a PASMO card from my previous trip to Japan so there is no reason for me to get the ICOCA/HARUKA package right?

I can just get the HARUKA ticket from Klook and use my Pasmo to travel around the Kansai region am I right?

Thanks

Guys, from your experience, is rm12k cash for two person enough mainly for food, train & random spending for 2 weeks in japan? Osaka, kyoto and tokyo. I have paid for accomodation, attraction tickets, flights, etc already.
*
more than enough
i averagely spend RM2.5k for my 1 week in kansai region going osaka, kyoto, nara, kobe
eat until puke, brought back a full suitcase of stuff...many of which not tax refunded

That's a really good save you got there considering ur traveling thru kansai region. Me in Nagasaki & Fukuoka ady 3k for everything on ground minus hotel (8days).
*
depends what u ate actually
if u eat fancy stuff, thn budget need to go up higher
my meal mostly average 1000 yen except for that wagyu beef BBQ buffet which is 4k yen/pax
surprisingly the meal in kansai region quite ok the pricing, famous ramen shop also got 700-900yen
tokyo famous one usually over 1k yen

the ramen street at osaka station...all famous ramen shop...their most expensive one is like 1.2k yen
but it's a huge bowl of ramen + a bowl of fried rice + a side of gyoza = u will puke after eating that much laugh.gif

transportation, i initially loaded 5k yen onto every IC card...end up i needed to add 1k yen for the last day back to airport

QUOTE(quadcube @ Nov 5 2019, 09:28 AM)
just take the Nankai Rapid β from KIX all the way till Namba, it's walking distance from Dotonbori, can get cheaper ticket if you purchase the ticket online (do remember to print the receipt for ticket exchange). Rapid β last train is at 11pm, the normal airport trains runs until 11:55pm (reach Namba at 12:39am).
*
i would recommend taking the normal train
difference only like 10 mins in terms of travel time but saved u like 500 yen

QUOTE(jenli_84 @ Nov 5 2019, 10:37 AM)
a small slice of wagyu already cost 2000 yen. This is what I had in one of the market
*
2k yen is very cheap
the most famous cheapest kobe beef stall that is at kuromon market
100gm is 5000 yen
but that is A5 kobe beef

the one i ate of course not kobe beef(can't afford it)
i ate kuroge wagyu beef at chifaja
just go for the thin slices...it's very enjoyable compared to normal beef

I forgot what I order but definitely thin slices onces
*
the one i ate needed to grill myself
but i kinda know what people meant by melts in your mouth
because it's thin slices and mostly fat

if the slice is too thick, it ain't gonna melt

QUOTE(quadcube @ Nov 5 2019, 11:15 AM)
nah, it's only cheaper by 210 yen. rapid β is much more comfy especially after a long flight (even better with a strawberry ice cream from the i7 seventeen ice vending machine).

my usual routine anyway since I fly out of KIX every 1-5 months laugh.gif on a side note, will be dropping by KK in two weeks, let me know if u want anything (still remembered back then you bought me some Mitsuya cider candies biggrin.gif)
*
i remember correctly it was 500 yen difference
so i opened google maps and search namba station to KIX
nankai limited express - 42 minutes - 1450 yen
normal train - 48 minutes - 930 yen

i just came back from kansai region, my stock still full
unless you're gonna go kobe thn different story laugh.gif

I see. Does ur budget includes some shopping as well? Mine 3k includes shopping.

I still remember got one time, my wife have to buy a big suitcase in Osaka...
*
from my previous tokyo lesson...yes u do
no matter what size u bring, it's gonna be full when u leave japan
my mom hasn't bought enough yet but have to stop because it's full

u need money and a huge suitcase/multiple suitcase to bring back everything from japan
because almost everything there is unique

QUOTE(-kytz- @ Nov 5 2019, 01:51 PM)
So u bring multiple empty bags from Msia to Japan or you buy the luggage there?

I'm thinking of bringing a soft bag (made of fabric) to bring on the plane..
*
everyone just bring a luggage there
the size where u can carry on...any bigger have to be checked in eventhough it's empty
and yes, bring soft case...because when you're leaving japan...the suitcase will be checked in because i can guarantee it will not be 7KG laugh.gif

so soft case prevent it from breaking apart like hard case

haha, that's why I mentioned the online Kanku webtoku ticket for Nankai rapid β (https://www.howto-osaka.com/en/ticket/ticket/webtoku.html). but if u buy the web ticket without printing the receipt, they will be complaining about it but still, they will help you to print and exchange it for the actual train ticket tongue.gif

or if u have anything specific that you want from Ishikawa, since I'm living here. What's in Kobe besides delicious beef?
*
their confectionery stuff of course
u can go to the kitano area to buy or just buy at the 7-11 at the sannomiya station
there are 2 7-11 there, 1 is in plain sight which is a kiosk...there is another one hidden at the corner which is a huge 7-11
inside that 7-11 sell all of kobe local exclusive confectionery...god it's good

and u can't get it anywhere else

each region of japan has their own exclusive confectionery, osaka has their own, kyoto has their own, nara has their own
i'm pretty sure ishikawa has their own too(which i don't know what it is)

never been to ishikawa so don't know anything abt it, u should know it better since u stayed there
there should be 1 place that is selling confectionery stuff that is always crowded by japanese

I'm using a minimalist wallet where the notes have to be folded twice. Should not take too many notes.

*
the notes in japan isn't the biggest, in fact it's the smallest
the biggest issue is the coinssssss laugh.gif
yes, i put many s behind because there will be a lot

everytime u buy something
they will give u back in coins
and u will end up with a lot of 100 yen coins(which is alot)
u donate it away like that? laugh.gif ...a few of that coin is basically a meal already

QUOTE(babylon52281 @ Nov 6 2019, 11:46 AM)
Hahaha! Not the big ones! Tho omikujis are typically 100~200yen.
You know Japan don't do rounding to the nearest 5sen unlike Malaysia so I would try and give exact change whenever I buy things at Kombinis, hence my 'deposit' there too wink.gif. Just that not all the places will put up their post-tax price.
*
that's the real reason since they don't show post tax price
so u will always wonder what the actual price is
and often, u don't have enough and u have to carry those coins around

QUOTE(cloudwan0 @ Nov 6 2019, 12:02 PM)
Not only 100 yen, you will have 50, 10, 5 and 1, which add up quite a lot of coin....this only happened in japan
*
yup, accumulatively...we all will end up with tons of coins
even the cashier machine they use nowadays are automated since it's a waste of time to calculate...they just throw it in laugh.gif

QUOTE(Monya Meow Meow @ Nov 6 2019, 01:20 PM)
What's the best use of 1 Yen coins?
Keep them until they make up a sizeable amount worthy of using like 100 Yen?
*
they all have use
say a drink is 140 yen(before tax) but after tax it became 156 yen
this is where the 1 yen have use
essentially u buy what also have use
just that do u have enough 1 yen or not laugh.gif

Which cashless option is more widely used for convenience stores/restaurants/shops? Alipay or ICOCA?

Don't want to bring around too much cash and those coins!
*
japan is still mostly cash
alipay vs ICOCA?...ICOCA of course will win
rarely see alipay accepted unless places like drug store and not all accept
