Anyone can share on how to save on Universal Studios Japan tickets (normal +express)? They're damn expensive via klook/voyagin/etc

Try Taobao. I will be getting mine from Taobao, the date I wanted can buy normal ticket already but express ticket hasn't released yet. I think it's cheaper than Klook sites. I have not bought myself, so not sure what's the troublesome part yet but should be quite straightforward. Oh ya, need to know Chinese as well. smile.gif

I'm getting my JR Pass from there as well, much cheaper than anywhere else.
*
Never thought of taobao. THose are unauthorised sellers, worst case got a fake ticket vmad.gif

QUOTE(MR_alien @ Aug 17 2019, 09:18 AM)
are your trip recent and the dates already release?
try look for someone who is selling buy 1 free 1 universal studio voucher(they got it from klook's bday like 1 month ago)
the voucher expires 31st august 2019(means need to claim by this date)

i bought the voucher and bought buy 1 free 1 USJ tix...save me alot of money

express pass though, that 1 i don't think so..it's more expensive than the ticket itself laugh.gif
*
As for the dates I wanna go to USJ, should be released in the next few days.. hmm.gif

Btw need to ask, basically for the buy 1 free 1 voucher to work, just checkout the 2 tickets and enter the code and that's it? hmm.gif

Which airbnb was that? Can share here or via PM so can avoid? My recent trip both AirBnB are really good. Also curious of the hotels you booked.  hmm.gif
*
The location on the Airbnb map is actually an approximate so imagine all the Airbnb located right at prime areas like dotonburi is not actually there. I had PM each owner for their location which are like 1-2 stations away.

In Osaka, I booked Ibis Hotel for around RM330/night for 5 nights. Right opposite Dotonburi.

In kyoto, the hotel is right in the centre of Gion for around RM370/night for 7 nights.

Oh man that sucks. Well TBH both my AirBnBs in Osaka and Tokyo also isn't prime but I went for an event (Osaka International Diabolo Competition) so just 1 station to the event place. In Osaka I stayed in Ajirokita which is near Shin-Fukae & Fuse Station. In Tokyo I went for summer sonic so I stayed in Funabashi, also all quite near 3 stations, Higashi-kaijin, Keisei-Funabashi & Funabashi staiton.

Will check out IBIS hotel next time I'm in Osaka.
*
I managed to get Ibis at around 35% discount after seeing it on hotels combined. I hope it isn't noisy as it's just across Dotonburi.

QUOTE(swn525 @ Aug 22 2019, 09:11 AM)
wow, thanks for the suggestions, i like shopping, haha
yes, promo ticket RM446 for return
*
Is that RM446 before adding in luggage, meals and seats? I was looking into it yesterday and it cost around RM700 ish for return tickets bteeern Jan and March next year.

Anyhow, it's still cheap but not a deal breaker to impulsively travel to Narita as expenses for accommodation and food is still high.

I wonder if it's possible to travel to Tokyo for 8 nights with a RM4k budget per person staying in a 3 star hotel with double bed and eating reasonable food (RM100/day)? Travelling with someone.

RM 300 per night? Challenging, maybe Airbnb or apartment.
*
Gonan be challenging for sure and the double beds in Japan are small so gotta be careful with that as well. A lot of them are like 120-130cm beds.

Like this for example, APA Hotel in Tokyo

Is IBIS nice? Can share some photos? Im choosing between IBIS or Holiday Inn, but IBIS is more attractive due to price and breakfast included. Holiday inn is however much bigger..
*
Can refer to their website. I haven't gone to Japan yet lol. Mine is the standard room with queen bed. Actually it's a 160cm bed, I thought it was 150cm.

https://www.accorhotels.com/gb/hotel-A0E7-i...mba/index.shtml

Checked the price again for my dates. Omg it's like RM624 per night now!!

I noticed Holiday Inn is right next to Ibis!

By any chance anyone can share a workable promo code as there isn't any on the internet sad.gif

For within Kyoto itself (including Arashiyama), just use your IC card (ICOCA/PASMO/SUICA).
No stress  smile.gif

I'm thinking of getting a Kansai One Pass for my travels in Osaka and Kyoto. I know I can get it at KIX Airport but there's no mention of operating hours as I am arriving at 920pm which is a bit late..

Also I would like to get it at the airport to get discounts for Haruka train to transfer to Osaka

for me it's purely
1. i cannot fully utilize them(due to my itinerary)
2. time constraint(cannot collect them)
3. location of collection is not in favour of my itinerary

so i end up did not even plan to use any pass and use pasmo all the way through my trip
sagano train, i just let luck do the part because the days i'm going there is china holiday's week laugh.gif
*
Those day passes are hard to utilise for me because I won't be visiting many places in a day. Prefer to take my time to exploring places and I don't really like the "touch and go" style.

check the operating time for the counter
if not wrong, most counter would have close by 10PM
which is why i don't plan to get any "pass" at all because can't collect any at all

can't even take the train to kyoto since the last train is 10.30PM laugh.gif

I think you get the Kansai One from the JR West office at Kansai Airport, which is open from 05:30 to 23:00 so you might be able to make it if there are no delays.
*
Thanks! JR West Office does indeed close at 11pm! rclxm9.gif

It was tempting to get Express Pass 7 but I read that you can really get on most rides without queue close to the closing hours. Got Express 4 in the end because justifying paying almost RM600 for EP7 was hard biggrin.gif

Peak autumn colours in Kyoto is around mid to end November judging from past few years history.

10-15C is bearable but not with strong wind :x

hopefully can get b1f1 la.. save some monehh..

When it comes to big discounts like buy 1 free 1 at events, don't expect it to be easily obtainable la.

I bought the b1f1 voucher for RM110 from someone who said below when I asked how he got the voucher:

U can still get klook's 15/20% site wide discount which I think is also applicable to the express passes (refer to klook's fb posting)

Good thing I managed to grab the discounts during 9.9 previously smile.gif

Edit: Forgot about kimono rentals. Hoping to get the 15/20% discounts brows.gif

Anyone travelling to japan this coming weeks or in the early November? I need help for carrying some light items like cigarette to here. As I'll be based for work in  few months. As I've checked online, it seems to be illegal to ship cigarettes by mail.
*
So you want someone to help you buy cigarettes from Japan? hmm.gif
