Airport transfer are different than Cab/Taxi
Japan Airport transfer are even more expensive than EU, Japan airport transfer all using benz & Alphard, cost you Rm2000 - 5000  brows.gif
Japan taxi are famous for world most expensive.
*
You got a point there. Somehow despite being expensive (I guess even for locals) and many guides advicing against taking taxis as first choice, that industry doesn't seem on the decline nor threatened by Grab/Uber/Lyft competition. There are still tons of taxis whereever I turn to.

hi all, im going to Kyushu in late March for 8D7N. here's my plan, kindly give comments if you have a better idea smile.gif

Day 1 - touched down Fukuoka and drive straight to Nagasaki. Explore Nagasaki and stay there.
Day 2 - Unzen & Kumamoto. Stays Kumamoto
Day 3 - Miyazaki
Day 4 - Takachiho gorge & mount Aso. Stays Aso
Day 5 - Yufuin & Beppu
Day 6 - Fukuoka
Day 7 - Fukuoka
Day 8 - fly back
*
Wowzers! Packed like mad. You will spend a lot of time on the road and not sightseeing places.
And only spending the landing day at nagasaki before moving on is kinda wasted as there is so much more to see in nagasaki. Mine too is 8 days 7 nites but only at 2 locations. Since ur driving, I would suggest spending 2 days at each location. Fukuoka is nothing really special unless you plan to do shopping or going outskirts.

hmm i guess we would want to see as much as possible. Well my parents want to visit the Nagasaki bomb sites so I guess should be fine.
What is your 2 locations?
*
If you would like to see just the A Bomb related, you will want to go the A Bomb Museum, Peace Memorial Hall, the Peace Park, the Peace Statue and even perhaps Urakami church. That itself could fill nearly ur whole day lor. Then not forget other interest like Dejima old town, Glover Garden, Suwa Jinja, the various Chinese temples, Megane Bridge, Chinatown, and of course Mt Inasa. The Penguin Aquarium is on the other side of the peninsula where the city is at, so that could take 0.5~1 day itself.

Nagasaki & Fukuoka

PS. If you do go to the Memorial Hall, try spotting a bit of Malaysian involvement there. nod.gif

Our Immigresen sometimes might not allow print material back (h-nt-i brows.gif ), better to special order from Japan specialty bookstores like Kinokuniya.

"A Chinese woman visiting the Japanese city of Ito -- on a peninsula south of Tokyo -- said that a server at a restaurant shouted ā€œChinese! Out!ā€ at her, according to a recording shared on a Weibo account.

The recording, which included a subsequent phone call to the unnamed eatery, was shared by a reporter from Hong Kong-based Phoenix TV.

A woman who answered the phone at the restaurant said it was refusing customers from China and Southeast Asia because the owner was worried about the coronavirus, according to the recording. ā€œIf our owner contracts the virus and dies, whose responsibility is it then?ā€ she said."

If you're Chinese, don't speak Chinese lor  unsure.gif

My elderly mom want to defer date of travel (in March with MAS eco)

Do we need rebook the flight at same time we cancel the flight?

We cancel the ticket first and rebook the flight later right?

I think better call up MAS customer service and ask them for the right procedure. The good thing about these national carriers are you get better customer help and more lenient allowances for changes.

Anyone used Osaka's amazing pass before? Is it worth it?
*
Its a very simple cost comparison calculation.

With ur itinerary, work out ur travel cost if going by individual fares, tally up the cost and see which is more expensive. Go for the more expensive option because, you know, ur in Japan and all that. Its nice to spend more than necessary in an expensive country.

Maybe i should ask also since no harm

Not sure AA allow for refund / defer or not T__T
*
AA is really difficult to near impossible unless they trigger the options themselves. Otherwise ur ticket will burn or need to pay for deferment. AA is cheaper for a reason.

Then i still see AA kept promoting Japan >.<
*
There isn't a general restriction from Malaysia gomen on travelling so AA still business as usual. Sure, its morally & ethically wrong but if AA were to care about morals & ethics they wouldn't be the success story they are today.

Some airlines are taking precautions by wiping down and filtering the air after each flight but not sure if budget airlines like AA does that or not.

Reading some comments here, I noticed some ppl got worried over coronavirus. Well, one should worry of course, but....

I have always been wearing masks consistently especially in airports and especially inside the aeroplane even before the outbreak of this coronavirus.

Actually there's a much more dangerous pathogen out there compared to coronavirus but probably due to lack of media exposure, not many people are aware of it. Furthermore, some thought it has gone extinct but it's not. And that is Tuberculosis (TB).

TB (especially XDR-TB where there is no cure) is way worse compared to coronavirus. The number of cases in both Malaysia and Japan are in the thousands. Thousands as in over 10,000 new cases every year (both in Malaysia and in Japan respectively). You read that right.

TB grows very slowly inside you unlike coronavirus. Probably due to this, no one bats an eyelid.

So, some ppl who have been coughing for months probably don't realise they are suffering from TB until they get really sick and started coughing blood (after several months of coughing "normally").

And due to that, I always wear mask in the aeroplane because there have been several documented cases of transmission of TB inside a flight.

Compared to coronavirus, TB is very "airborne" unlike coronavirus which is mainly transmitted through respiratory droplets. Because the mycobacterium tuberculosis can stay suspended in the air for several hours, which is unlike coronavirus that is transmitted more similarly like influenza.
*
Understandably TB is more contagious but its curable and not quick to die from compared to coronavirus

Anyone managed to see some cheap ticket flights to japan fr the coming few months? i am thinking to take this opportunity to travel, but flight ticket prices are not reduced drastically yet

You won't find it yet as mid-2020 is Tokyo Olympics so they won't drop it unless forecast will continue to be bad or worse.

AFAIK, AA now has full refund cancellation for China, HK & Macau

Dear Sifu,

What is the affordable souvenirs recommended in Osaka?

Sometime, I feel buy souvenirs is not a good practice, because traveler need to think about souvenirs and cost. bruce.gif

*
Funny you should be obliged to buy souvenirs even if you don't feel the need to do so. Japan isn't like those super-cheap Chinese tours whereby you are 'forced' to buy things as you travel in the tour. The only souvenir I bought back when I went to Nagasaki is tons of Japan KitKats for myself and for gifting. biggrin.gif Oh and a local specialty ornament for my house deco.

Last time bought KitKats but colleagues doesn't take a single due to non-halal issue...

Lesson learnt, never buy food as souvenir.
*
I did thought about that so I bought the unique ones for my nonmuslim friends and kolik and the standard green tea & choco ones for my muslim mates. Mine seem to be more accepting those flavours that we can get in Malaysia, so they have less hesitance to take them as they are more familiar with these ones. Interestingly my boss who can't take sweet things is okay to take my green tea and dark choco Kitkats. So it does pay to know their acceptance level I guess.
