Nope. Just a Samsung FHD TV but unigitv picture quality is among the worst. Astro picture quality much better...

Mine is very good as well.

If it's the Unifi TV Multicast version (requires VLAN 600 one) then definitely no complaints in picture quality.

But if it's the Unifi TV version that doesn't need VLAN 600 one (Unicast), the picture quality looks rubbish especially during fast moving scenes, and the video frame rate is 25fps instead of 50fps (50i).

But you know la, if it's Unicast, the higher the bitrate, the higher the bandwidth cost they need to bear for the CDN servers.

If I'm not mistaken, the Unifi TV app (not to be confused with unifi playTV app) can be download right from the Google Play Store and install in devices running Android TV OS. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think he is comparing Unifi TV app with Astro Go, which he is correct, since Unifi TV App streams at 1080p, while Astro Go only streams at highly compressed 720p.

One of my relative uses Chromecast with Google TV, and he managed to install Unifi TV app in it.
And yeah, I've done a hands-on on the app myself, so I've experience the good and the bad about the navigating the app, as well as observing the picture quality.

Unicast = the one that does not rely on Linear TV VLAN such as VLAN 600 (or VLAN 823), can watch using WiFi connection.
Multicast = the one you experience by using the Huawei white/silver box to watch Unifi TV, that relies on VLAN 600 and must use LAN cable

For me, I won't compare the picture quality I see on Unifi TV Unicast with Astro Go's one, since Astro Go is meant for on-the-go usage rather than "fixed setup" like watching on TV without relying on Astro box.
And yes, Astro Go quality is merely 720p, so of course it won't be as good as what we see on Unifi TV.
In that case, do you see any picture quality difference when watching Unifi TV over Unifi Plus Box vs any Google ATV certified boxes?

i do not have all the devices, dun use UPB or ATV box or chromecast.

what i can say is:

.. unifi playtv on regular android box is POOR.
.. unifitv on ATV TV is good, has improved over time.
.. how good also depends on the smart TV - i have one PQ better than the other.
.. it can get very close to the old silver STB which i hardly use anymore since ATV PQ is good enough.
.. previously there cannot be direct comparison with astrogo (on compatible boxes) as the channels are different.
.. now, celestial, Hits movies exist on both - they come out BETTER on my unifitv ATV TVs than astrogo on my boxes.

perhaps users tend to ignore the hardware and optimization which i m now convinced to be impt.

that UPB is a low level box, probably average PQ since it uses the app.

maybe the touted new box will have better hardware and build... but i m not sure users will be thrilled to pay much more than the UPB now.

LoL.. Am using KM2 atv certified, connected wirelessly and still vlan tagged 🤔🤔🤔

Perhaps I should untagged it and see if there's any pq change which I doubt so.
