Just got back from Jogja. Engaged a driver for IDR2.3million for a full 4 days. Always reached hotel at night after dinner around 8pm to 9pm Jogja time. Worth the money and we tipped him IDR600K for his good service. Gave us free 30GB sim card. 5 of us also cannot finish using it. Also gave us free mangoesteen as my MIL craved for it.

I have just return from 6D5N Yogjakarta trip. It's trully a beautiful place. I have engaged with our fellow yogjakarta from lowyat, "masdojogja".

I have promised "masdojogja" that i will write a good review for him should our trip is marvellous.
and yes, we had a  great time in Yogjakarta. Thanks to brother masdojogja and here is the itenary and review.

Day 1 (doni aka masdojogja)
- Arrival at aduscipto airport, greeted by our friendly fellow masdojogja.
- first stop, local lunch delicacies, soto rice
- Gumuk Pasir, arrival in the afternoon
- Parangtritis Beach (beautiful scenery)
- Lunch at Base Camp, Ular Indonesia. (nice top view restaurant)

Day 2 (doni aka masdojogja)
- Embark at 4am to Borobudur temple for sunrise (truly immaculate view)
- Lava Tour Merapi (highly recommended place)

Day 3 (koko as masdojogja is unavaible, he assigned koko as our driver, he is indeed good as well)
- Gua Jomblang (an experience u will never want to miss)
- Timang Beach (it's beautiful as well but to me, i think it's a little overrated)
- Abhayagiri Restaurant (Nice view, restaurant is facing the active volcano, but that night, we could only see half of the mountain as it was raining)

Day 4 (koko)
- Batik Manufacturing tour
- Source for Batik (gift)
- Prambanan Temple
- Ratu boko  (to me, it's a just

Day 5 (doni aka masdojogja)
- Taman Sari
- Then we call it a day to rest as we are exhausted due to the previous day activity.

Day 6 (koko)
- Markets to buy avocados and salak.
- oleh oleh and then proceed to airport.

I stayed at the hotel grand ambarukmo.
the receptionist is good and friendly. however the service is not satisfactory.
it was a total big turn off especially when house keeping went into our room twice for cleaning and make up.
we did not request for those service and worst was, the second time we went in, room was fix, we couldn't bother more, but our room card was taken away from our room which causes souviner which we purchase, left in the fridge, spoilt. Ameneties provided is always shortage and breakfast was another let down when juice bar serving fresh juice...it's very dilluted and you can barely taste anything. i requested for soft boil egg and they deliver hard boiled egg instead. The list goes on and on.

As a conclusion, it's been a truly great adventure and exploration.
Except for the hotel part.

shall visit yogyakarta again as there are several places not visit yet.

till then, thanks to bro masdojogja aka doni and koko for the wonderful tour, explanation, sharing and adventure.

Thanks bro, hope you come again

Nasi Gudeg very weird for me too. Sweet jackfruit serve together with rice

Jogja best experience will be Lesehan & Angkringan

Lesehan can be found along Malioboro Street.

Angkringan Lek Man (Founder) & Angkringan Pak Jabrik (Harian Kedaulatan Rakyat) are the best one
Kopi Joss , Satay , skewer , nasi kuching

guys, dilemma here, don't know want to self driving onot at Jogyakarta to those outskirt attraction like gunung merapi and beaches

Been driving experience in Korea Jeju, japan Hokkaido, phuket, and Bali , but the road condition are still OK , for me they are more towards city and Kampung style driving

Not sure how severe the road condition over yogja there ,heard from my friends who been there, it is very uneven and bumpy road there, full of rocks and dirts , which is not my style of driving. It is more of those SUV , Jeep advantures style.

Anyone, can advise abit...... driving or not , it affect my itineraries planning greatly.

Hi guys,

Is it true that Borobudur Temple sunrise must join a tour package ? as normal ticket holder can only enter after 6am which already passed the sunrise timing.

Also, is it possible to do the following in a one day tour trip,

Borobudur temple
Rhema Church hill Chicken
Punthuk Setumbu
Merapi jeep tour (no trekking)
Rambanan Temple

Another Option was:

Stay at Manohara Borobudur Hotel, you can get free access to sunrise

I chcked the hotel price, quite expensive. Think about it, will give up on sunrise view, not worth spending extra money just for that.....

i just came back from jogja last saturday. overall road condition in outskirt is still acceptable but you need to cautious of bikes and school children crossing in the street.

if you go to Timang Beach you need to take a jeep from main road because the road condition full of rocks and quite challenging when i am decided not to take a jeep.

its not public transport actually but some villager at that area provide jeep transportation direct to timang beach. the journey start from the main junction to the timang beach and it will take around 20 minutes for 4km journey.

Wao OK, then I assume we "must take" their transport to go to timang beach ?

How much they charge ?

I got no issue to pay and take transport provided, as long as my car parked there is properly look after.
